Check out btw the movie Choke Canyon from 1986, in that movie i noticed that in a lab they have the exact same two light up panels that are used in the Flag Semi. I wonder if not they are the same ones used for Knight Rider??, perhaps they could still exist as well??. Keep up the great work, from a Finnish fan of Knight Rider since age 7 :)).
16:01 There are two screens in the background when the oak tambor is being discussed. One shows the set looking like it is all one color, while the other shows two colors. Which is correct?
I understand it's a long process. I've been following you guys for almost 3 years. It's killing me. I wish the trailer was done already. Not slamming you just want it done. I do appreciate your hard work.
I'll admit I'm a bit impatient myself, but I'm glad Joe and everyone else is taking their time on this and not rushing it, makes the final product even better in many ways.
Thanks Joe for persevering…big fan from the UK…huge fan since 1983 in the Uk…your videos transport us all back to a mythical time…where one man can make a difference
How many of us were thinking how many panels can we cut at one time my guess is three maybe 4 max but put a board below 4ft panel cut off doesn't fall too far but might be better .great job and we are so many grateful for folks out there going above and beyond for this project.
Can you imagine, travelling in the trailer, while moving and no frame of reference, would be freaky IRL, Devon/Michael and Bonnie must have had great balance 😉
There was an outakes video from the show, They were holding onto the furniture and trying to keep their balance. It's on this channel somewhere. Pretty funny.
I think you're right that the corrugated panels look slightly too white/light. At 4:30 the originals look a little metallic, maybe a silver grey colour?
To quote a great Northerner and woodworker "Before we work with Power tools, let's take a moment to talk about shop safety. Be sure to read, understand and follow all the safety rules that come with your power tools. Knowing how to use your power tools properly will greatly reduce the risk of personal injury and remember this. There is no more important safety rule than to wear these, safety glasses." Quoted Norm Abrams of the New Yankee Workshop.
Oh yes now we're talking, great stuff joe, the finished semi is gonna look amazing, cant wait to see kitt drive into that semi once again like back in the 80s
One suggestion on your cutting jig, I’d put a hinge on one side of your clamping board so that you only have to clamp one side. It would save you time from walking around from side to side, making the process much quicker
I know this sounds like a weird idea, but for securing your KITT in the semi when traveling, may I suggest the idea of making the diamond plating that you plan on using the floor for KITT's parking area be something that you can move? I mean, if you're wanting it to look like it does in the show but still have access to the holes for transport, it'd make sense to have the diamond panels able to be moveable. That way, whenever you reach whatever destination you go to, you can pull KITT out, place the diamond plating into place, secure it and make it look like it does in the show without having to cut holes in it. But, that's just a suggestion and I know it would be easier to just go ahead and secure the diamond plating.
Oh wonderful!!! I'm really getting excited too. Each passing video update on this project brings the excitement. I'm also blown away by the kindness and generous help from people out there for this. I guess there is lots of us that want to see this happen! Thanks to Irving for his generous help as well. Awesome stuff Joe.
I seriously hope David Hasselhoff will get a chance to take a look at the trailer when it's finished. I know he's not used to see the trailer set he filmed on inside the actual trailer, but he will surely be completely amazed!
It’s actually pretty amazing that the tie-downs in the diamond plate floor will be there, quite possibly even the original holes used to hold down the hero car! Very neat, very accurate, and a very cool real-world combination of the fully functional trailer with the interior studio set which really should’ve also had the tie-downs on the floor for continuity. In an earlier video I even suggested possibly building the ceiling like it was in the trailer over the garage section only, then build it like the studio set over the office to get the best of both worlds. Although I will be happy no matter how you build it!
The new shirt/sweatshirt design will make a nice poster. Good idea of the series name from other countries. It's sometimes to easy to forget that Knight Rider, and other shows, did air in other countries.
This is so exciting. You are getting close faster than I expected. Can't wait to see the finished version. I'm curious how the design/fabrication of the ramp is going, cause black paint baby!
Funny, here in the Netherlands we never translate a serie like that. So it was called Knight Rider, also we had subtitled and no dubbed in Dutch. Is very cool.
Here in Sweden they called the show for both Knight Rider and Nattens riddare (the Knight of the night) . As a comment on the video, you are doing a good work with the trailer, truck and the cars . It would be nice to see irl 😊
Joe, when you get the fuel pump installed and the General running again, you should do a clip for your video of backing the General up to the trailer to do a mockup of them "uknighted" once again, that would be cool to see.
Fyi, before installing the injection pump bar over the engine to top dead center brother. Marks are located my Accessory drive pulley. On all Old school L10 and 855 Cummings. Owe you guys should upgrade brakes to Automatic Slack Adjuster, get rid those Manuel slack Adjusters period or not. Safety is 🔑
Thanks to the generous donators for this project . Not much we can do with time delays or unobtainium pieces... We all have to cultivate patience. Let me give the equivalent of a hug to the shining black beauty on wheels hiding over there somewhere. 😉 Have a great WE Knight Rider fans.
Hi Irving! Thx for the job you all are doing to bring the semi to life again! It is being amazin to see all the job you are doing and the findings all the "finders" are doing. As I'm assembling a KITT in 1:8 scale, my idea is to create a diorama where KITT is inside the semi. As I want to recreate also the corrugated metal walls, I based myslef on your findings and other images to figure out the measurements of the hills and valleys of the corrugated metal. But, as you find probably the one most close (99.99% as you mentioned), is it possible that you can give us these measurements or point us to where you bought it, so we can try to get the measurments from them? Thank you in advance and looking forward to seeing the next video! Regards from Spain!
Awesome progress, and awesome donations 🙂👍 With these panels, very interesting phase begins, namely very visible and visual part of the restoration, certainly will look amazing very quickly. Pretty good pronunciation of "Ritari Ässä" too 😉
What about the big steel Door leading into the lounge ? Did you happen to find the exact steel door leading into the lounge ? The work on the trailer and semi are exciting to see being brought back to life before our very eyes. Keep up the great work.
I was in Pittsburgh seeing my family. I should have sent you an Email to see if you needed any help during the weekend if you were close enough to drive too.
Thanks for the update Joe it's nice to hear that things are coming together. I have been curious about something maybe you have already talked about but when they were driving KIT off of the truck what was the process like? it seems that the car would need to be in neutral when it makes the transition from the ramp to the ground so would the just let it roll off then put it in drive?
Fascinating project. I'm a little confused about one detail… wasn't the studio set a lot wider than the actual Semi? So if you're building this INSIDE the Semi, won't this look way narrower than the familiar set?
Just a question, but are the walls going to be sitting on the diamond plate floor, or behind the floor. You need to take in account for the thickness of the floor if the wall will be on top of it.
Has Universal ever reached out with any comments on your work? Seems to me you're doing something that they should've tried to do quite a while ago for preservation, but didn't. Would be cool if they had some high praise or something?
Joe, I know you said the exact panels were readily available in Europe. What is the difference between what you have and those panels? I did a count of the of the slats between the Vertical black posts in the Set photo. I counted 15 assuming the black posts sit in front the panels. This would indicate the spacing between the black posts to be 5 feet x 4 sections being (20 ft). Is this what you meant by scaling it down to be 16 ft which is 12 slats between black posts?
Don't waste the scrap....cut squares and have all historians sign it and sell them for 10 bucks each. Cool way to own a part of something that's actually on the trailer.
Funny guy. First time ever pronouncing Finnish words and he says: "I'm not sure I pronounced that right". I'm pretty sure anyone can bet their life that they aint gonna get foreign language pronunciation right on a first try with no reference. Even the people who speak the native languages have different pronunciations due to different regions and dialects. Anyway, nice shirt, love the project.

Merch idea: Black coffee mug with Foundation logo. Simple, usable, awesome.
With gold pinstripes around the mug either below or above it.
That is one really cool idea yes please I'd order a few gold lines at the bottom as they should be I'd love it
Would need to license from Universal to sell their IP
@@waldokind They're already selling apparel with the logo on it, would the legal situation be different for a mug?
