    Generally I've found with matt finishes you have to very lightly mist the varnish on to the model and you'll get a much better and more consistent result.

    Thanks for the video? I learned a lot from it? I think I'll stick with the Mr. Color GX? It's readily available?

    What is the thinner ratio for Gaia flat clear that you recommend?

    • @mokanaman
      @mokanaman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thinner to paint a good start is 1/1 then thin further around 2/1 or 3/1. Yo can always go harder with thinner regarding clears.

    hey mokanaman you can use testors dull coat its very good. they have it in aerosol or in a glass jar.also there is mattlak from marabu,this stuff gives a dead flat surface. I hope it helps.

      Testors was and still is one of the best dull coats I've ever used. For some reason testors is no longer distribution or sold in my city. It is a brand in decline sadly. Thank you for the suggestion I'm honstly looking into getting clear matt in industrial bulk and show casing how to make your own in future.

      @@mokanaman if you want in bulk you can use automotive flat or clear coats. 1k or 2k, it is best to use hardener on the 1k also.

      @@nikolaosstavrou5327 Im in talks with a paint manufacture who sells to the public and covers Auto outlets. Smallest amount in 250ml. I've used auto gloss clear and primer with great results.

    Hello, a question, is GAIA EX-04 Flat Clear diluted with industrial thinner for lacquers or with thinner for acrylics? Can you use water to dilute?

    • @mokanaman
      @mokanaman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gaianote is lacquer based, it used industrial thinner as you put it.

    I wish you had used clear spoons so we could evaluate how clear the clear really is.

      honestly its not a bad idea or even plastic cups or something. I do spray most of these over decals and other details with out issue but never have I dulled clear canopy or window on a model.

      @@mokanamanThat is good to know. Thank you. I've seen people mention that GX113/114 won't leave a white film, but haven't noticed such a comment on other clears, so I was wondering if a whitish film was the standard or if true clear was the standard and there were some brands to avoid.

    I’ve never had a problem with ex4 flat from Gaia. I don’t ever see a satin.

      He thinned with an acrylic thinner that had a reducer premixed in it. I wonder if that had something to do with it?
