I hear what you are saying. Watching all these successful watch dealers videos at shows, with clients, on the phone with other dealers, all you hear or see are Rolex, AP or RM ad nauseam. Love seeing the complicated, traditional, well made historic watch brands that STARTED the watch industry over a hundred years ago.
Do you happen to know the watch brand he mentions at 31:55? It's a beautiful piece, but I couldn't understand what he said.

Adrian, not all people like RM…doesn’t make them haters if they don’t like RM. You buy and collect what you like. I own a Greubel Forsey and FP Journe so I can afford high end watches but I would never buy an RM…because I don’t like them…not because I can’t afford them.

Often feels on Grey Market that the watches are just a by product of the drama, hustle, cinematography, personalities etc. that make the show so appealing Really refreshing to see horology front and centre in this one. Fantastic episode....one of the best.

What an absolute legend that guy seems to be. What an amazing watch collection. Not sure how old he is. But he's absolutely killing it. What style and swagger.
He said he was around 26 in 1995. So born in 69, 54 years old. He was featured on the dink, a few years ago.
He has owned the most important Pateks of all time like for example 1518 in steel and JB Champion chronometer. The Hodinkee talking watches was such a class act from him

Love the detail around how the watch looks on the wrist, the size of the watch and how it wears is a really important factor
I love learning about watches that were made in limited production, or for a short period of time. My seiko 6217-8001 is only as rare as it is because it was only made at Suwa for 9 months in 1967 before the manufacturing moved over to Daini.

Many years ago, I was invited to participate in an artist workshop for several weeks in Long Island. Roy Lichtenstein was a visiting artist. He made clear that he wouldn't judge artist's work based on a single example. "I want to understand what you are trying to achieve before I can know how successful you are." Similarly, with a mature watch collection, there needs to be cohesion and purpose.

Icing a Patek is never a good idea. If it is factory, that is better, or a piece like the Timeless Treasure by Jacob & Co which is the Iced out king of all, but it was designed to be that way and it is more of a piece of Artwork. second half of this video is very cool.

Rainbow on a lighter metal for sure. White gold, platinum, etc makes the rainbow colors pop more. Yellow or rose gold kind of feels like the case and bracelet are competing for your attention with the rainbow pieces.
