all of their influences do....they're so young...all they had was the music they listened to for inspiration at that point....and it sounds GREAT...a clear mix of different styles....kind of original....they sound like one day they'll be stars.....Chino's vocals are a clue to where they would be headed one day.....his singing is very creative and ambitious here...that's the real sign here that these kids are on their way

Chi played Musicman Stingrays back then until after Adrenaline when he started playing P-basses. He’s doing a lot more w the Stingray here bc it’s a more diverse bass.

BUT, he's playing a G&L L1000 here, which does have Music Man-ish looks (it's Leo Fender's final brand after all) and a fat humbucker pickup, but that humbucker is in the P-bass sweet spot so it's a lot more like a souped up P-bass (with maybe just a hint of Stingray if he ever puts it in parallel mode).

When I first heard Hearts + Wires, I was so surprised by Steph's solo work but after first seeing this video a while ago I realized he's a shredder and a solid rhythm guitarist! 😂 🔥
They are close friends and from the same town, deftones were actually formed 3 years earlier than Far, when this performance was shot Far had only one year of existence , deftones had four, so it can be the other way around and Far sounded like early deftones. Anyway, both bands started palying at the same clubs in old Sacto underground scene and featured each other elements in their live shows, they still remain close friends to this day.
Their song Gift on their Like Linus demo tape reminded me a lot of Far as well, it's really cool seeing how many different styles they were playing around with in their early days.
Wow It's the Grungetones before they got the Def in their sound! They even seem to have a bootleg Layne Staley as a drummer. Amazing to see something so early in their career.
This is VERY 90s! Lol.. Great the band is humble enough to share it... Finding a sound is an amazing journey that we never appreciate enough, and most musicians hide their past to give an impression that they were always perfect... There are a lot of cues to what came later in this video. Great to watch!

The sound and character of the guitar however is quite consistent to later songs though. Chino touches on finding his voice, though then loses it.

Their song Gift on their Like Linus demo tape reminded me a lot of Far as well, it's really cool seeing how many different styles they were playing around with in their early days.

This is VERY 90s! Lol.. Great the band is humble enough to share it... Finding a sound is an amazing journey that we never appreciate enough, and most musicians hide their past to give an impression that they were always perfect... There are a lot of cues to what came later in this video. Great to watch!
