The base(support) for that truck can be made to resemble a road. The front stabilizators parts can be united in one piece and just a little elongated, with a white line in the middle like the lines on the road.
🤯The timing of this video is perfect for me! My P1S is supposed to show up this weekend and I was literally just googling SVG to 3D print when I saw your video pop up on a seperate youtube tab. Tinkercad slipped my mind. I was thinking of trying Blender, but I'll probably give Tinkercad a shot. Thank you for sharing your process and results!
you can also use Bambulab’s Keychain maker generator to turn any picture into a 3D file. Dont get thrown off by the word Keychain though, its simply just a 2D->3D generator 😄
Loving the videos/vlogs, keep them coming! 2 questions for you, if you don't mind! What was your first printer (I just bought an Eleogoo resin printer) and how did you choose the Bambu Labs printers to be your workhorses? Knowing the quality of your videos and how well you prepare yourself, I imagine you did a good comparison to determine what worked best for you. If you already mentioned this in one of your vlogs, just point me to the right one! Thanks!
Thank you for all the kind words :) My first printer was an anycubic vyper. I found the bambus luckily just watching an ad on instagram one day last year. Did some research and decided to buy it and try it. Loved the quality so I stuck with them and haven’t felt the need to look for anything else. They really are amazing printers. I told my full story in a previous video. Here’s the link :) My 3d Printing Journey - How I got to Where I am Now th-cam.com/video/UKbBLArDXv0/w-d-xo.html
Awesome printer setup, I’ve been watching some of your videos today, my one and only issue with your videos that I’ve seen is the audio level is not the same from your desktop mic to your wireless mic… just a fyi, I’ll still watch (and learn as much as I can) 😊
I’m new to the 3D printer World having bought my first printer a couple of days ago (Bambu Lab X1C). As somebody starting out I don’t want to commit to an Adobe Illustrator subscription and wondered if Affinity Designer will provide the functionality required for creating printable designs. Love the channel. I’ve watched lots of your videos in the last few days. Really enjoy the down to Earth approach and really admire what you’ve achieved.
@@macymakes3d Brilliant. Thank you for the very quick reply. Affinity gets good reviews and you get 6 months of full use to decide if you want to buy it.
WOW! Two new Macy videos in just over a week! SVGs drive me nuts! I usually separate the colors on a single layer to save each color....then re-assemble in TinkerCad to get the thickness/positioning correct for Studio for face down printing of the image. Sometimes I have gaps between colors that I didn't see. Sometimes it's hard to re-align everything precisely in TinkerCad. I've resorted to using Vectorizer to make my SVGs because it tends to give better results. Some work better importing directly into Studio. Some work better in Maker World's Maker Lab. One thing I never understood about TinkerCad is the 'quality'. Does it actually improve the quality or does it actually reduce the quality when importing and this just restores it? I know if you import certain things, like scans, TinkerCad can only handle so many triangles (100k I think?) so it will reduce the quality when importing. Not sure how it handles other things such as SVGs.
I had some extra time :) the next one might not be as soon though lol. Yeah I also wonder that about tinkercad. Is it importing at lower quality and then the slider puts it back to the original quality? Questions we might not get answers to haha
Loving your videos!! I don't know much about converting into 3D files so thank you for this. To save time with the svg would it be easier to select the whole worm and do an off set path to make a solid shape if it's disconnected like that one? I make a lot of stickers and have to do that action to make a bleed for cutting, just wondering if that would work the same?
Really nice prints. I was thinking for the #teacherlife if you filled in the spaces in the letters with a contrasting color to might make it easier to read.
@@macymakes3d OK cool I had made a purchase earlier on your Etsy store and forgot to add one to my order. So I figured instead of going back I’ll just subscribe to your Patreon so you get more money that way.
Do you ever tried to stop the print before top layer and fill the bottom with sand for a good stand? Just an idea because i always try to fix problems 😀
That’s a good idea. I just don’t know if I’m precise enough to pour sand in something while it’s still on the printer. Would eventually mess up and cause a giant mess haha
@@macymakes3d I´ve got no 3d Printer to do it myself right now, but maybe you can do it as content... But im planning to own one to do it so, and i think you are right, we need to be precise by filling up, or we need to hoover it. Most important is not to move the Build Plate... If you try it i would like to see it in an Vid. And Thanks for your Content!
Would be so cool if you could show us how to do that with a free or cheaper tool, like Inkscape! But nevermind me, great video again. Cool, that they are coming more often now.
Great video.... Question: why don't you export everything together from Tinkercad to Bambu Studio? instead of STL do OBJ and everything will be in different colors and in the right spot.
@@macymakes3d I mean just some sort of support from the back instead of a base on the bottom. A simple stick or something more elaborate. Into a press fit slot or hole. That's just what my mind came up with, but the base works too. I have more to learn from you than the other way around for sure 😀
I sold it pretty soon after buying it. It was a good printer, I just didn't have the space for it and the workflow in studio switching between printer types was more of a pain than I wanted to worry about. Decided to stick to just p1s
I'm kind of curious why you don't print color side down, the textured plate will give that color layer a nice professional look, and you can save the top layer from being super scratchy from the print head for the backside. The #teacherlife would look better that way, along with the school bus/beach vehicle. You don't need to "layer" everything. The first 2 mil of the print can be all the colors, and then use black for the thickness of the print or whatever.
Just a design choice. I like the look of a layered design more than the face down look. I print all of my nameplates face up also. I bought a smooth plate to try out bc I’m just not a fan of the sparkly texture as the face of the design so maybe I’ll like that better.
15:13 I’m not sure how I feel about this - buying someone’s digital file, making modifications then selling it on/giving it away feels a little like taking money from the pocket from the original creator. Printing products is a little different as there’s personalisation, production and logistics involved. I do like that you’re trying to support another seller instead of using generative AI though!
So - purchasing the files, purchasing the commercial license, modifying the files, creating a 3d model from the modified files, and then providing my audience the files for the 3d models... (not the original SVGs that I bought.) Not sure where the issue is. I paid the creator, credited the creator, spent time editing the design, showed how the item could be personalized. I'm not sure how this is any different than me personally printing and shipping the item.
@@macymakes3d like I said, I’m not sure. It was one of those things that I can’t quite say “this is why I disagree” and I didn’t want to sound negative I just wanted to provide perspective. Love the content as it feels more honest and less manufactured than many 3D printing content creators
Macy how are you pricing your prints? Do you price based on time, based on filament weight, or based on multiple factors? I'd totally pay you $10 a month for exclusive content specifically for selling 3d prints. Tons of content could be made on that. Efficiency/setup, advice on niches, all sorts of stuff
I have a formula for pricing that includes print time, filament usage(including loss/waste), my time whether that be for design or processing/packaging, and shipping costs. My lowest patreon tier does include discord access where you can ask any questions you want :) and then the other tiers include the live stream where I’ll answer your questions in chat, we can work through problems, whatever. It’s a cool thing we’re building over there :)
Did you watch the video? I used their files, with commercial rights, to create my own design, which I then provide the files for. Where did you see that I'm reselling their files?
Why don't you just add a leg to the back of it like a picture frame? Feel like that would not only save you product from redoing it but also very easy to make and attach
Hi, correct me if I'm wrong, but you're using the AMS in the wrong way, you're stacking layers/colours on top of each other, when in reality you can interlock them in one layer, that's the purpose of the AMS
The AMS is to use multicolors in 1 print. Her backs are 1 color, like the bus is black and only the top changes colors to put down layers and changes multiple times in that layer to put down different colors in each layer. She could not do this without the AMS. Check out Hueforge painting designs, those go down layer by layer with no AMS needed, but an AMS makes it easier so you don't have to pause the print and manually change the color. Hope that was clear😊
If you do it like she does on the book worm, then you save time on filament changes. Plus it a different design. She probably want to have a more 3D look and feel then just a flat multi color print, 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah what they’re saying is correct. I want it to have a stacked look, it’s a design choice. And by doing it this way I also save color changes and lessen the likelihood of a blemish in the print. Lots of ways to use the AMS. This is just mine :)
The base(support) for that truck can be made to resemble a road. The front stabilizators parts can be united in one piece and just a little elongated, with a white line in the middle like the lines on the road.
