Personally, I think Red was just toying with Yellow in the beginning, because after he was defeated, he became much more calm and focused on his opponent, unlike before, he was just acting like he wasn’t skilled to see his potential, and know how to properly prepare himself for the real battle.
In case no one else has said it, Shinji (yellow) is fighting to restore his clan while Jun (red) is fighting to restore his brother. Jun is not the one who massacred Shinji's village, they are simply two warriors with their own personal motivations. The battlegrpund they're fighting in is a kind of traditional arena, where warriors would battle to earn a relic that can grant any wish.
I wouldn’t say clones are cheating. Usually, in fiction, this is a type of thing that takes time and dedication to master. It’s not something that is easily done. Thus, it’s not cheating. Not using it would be holding back.
