    I don’t use it often and I think it’s overpriced but it’s also beautiful and if you’re shooting native lenses (and want AF ability) it’s the best option in this focal range. The 20mm focus by wire is AWFUL along with the 25mm. I would recommend just for the manual focus ring sensitivity.
    GREAT VIDEO!

    You did an amazing job creating the how you make product broll video. I would love to see a video that shows how you film your outdoor broll. I’m curious if you use a slider, handheld movements, or a gimbal. Your composition, exposure and movement, and narration work is all top notch.

    Just got this lens and love it :-) Using it on my new G95. Mitchell Kanashkevich (Lumix ambassador) loves it too. I encourage people to find his video titled 'Best lens for travel photography (If you could take one lens...)' here on youtube and watch that too. He's got some great work (pro photog).

      @@AlbertFasth I like it very much. It's a good size (small but not too small..and not too big either)...and same image quality as the G9/GH5 with a nice mix of features from the GH5/G9. It has all the basics I want. The only thing that I wish it had is the focus joystick, but I can live without that since this is not my primary camera.

      I had the Olympus 17mm/1.8, but was not satisfied. wide open it’s rather soft and that makes it somewhat pointless. Now I am very happy with the Leica 15mm, where 1.7 is totally useable and I believe that overall sharpness and bokeh are better, too. Only the limitation in background separation makes me thinking about the new Mitakon Speedmaster 17/0.95 for video.

    Do you use a variable ND filter for this lens when shooting in bright light, or do you just raise shutter speed until the exposure is good? I honestly get a bit sick of trying to get step down rings for these smaller lenses.

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlbertFasth Thanks, Albert. I think that as along as there's no excessive movement in the frame, high shutter speeds can look fine without a ND filter. Otherwise motion can look very 'brittle' and choppy.

    There is a much cheaper rebranded identical version of the same lens with same optical design manufactured by DJI for their mft mounted drone cameras. Works fine with cameras it seems with videos from youtube. The only deference is lens coatings which dji claims works better against flares since they are meant to be on drones.

    I have the ever best photo equipment. A Panasonic GM1 and GM5, and of course this Pana/Leica 15/1.7. I have also other lenses, cameraes and stuff in m43, but GM5 and 15/1.7 is the ever best m43 combo.

    • @protestagain
      @protestagain 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlbertFasth I don't miss IBIS on those cameras. GM5 with the 15/1.7, you can hold it steady to at least 1/30 sek.
      I use the GM1 with the portrait/macro lens Pana/Leica 45/2.8. That lens has 3 stop VR, and I often shoot it from my palm. They never expect me to shot that way, and I get much better and more relaxed modells/portraits.
      I also have the 12-32 and 35-100 and both of these have VR. I have those if I'm going for a travel as light as possible.

      @@AlbertFasth I've got a question for you guys--I shoot with a gh5 and I'm clearly not using it for it's autofocusing capabilities. It doesn't make much sense for me to spend a ton of cash on a metabones speedbooster that costs a fortune if I'm always exclusively manually focusing on everything. That said, can you suggest a cheaper m43-EF alternative that's worth taking a look at? I'm at a weird crossroads where I've gotta make a decision to support native or start speedboosting, but the cost of the adapters makes speedboosting less appealing. Great video, amazing content. Absolutely love what you're doing my man 😁

    Sadly that all features only usable on a Panasonic body, the beautiful aperture ring feature is not accessible on an Olympus body.

    I wish there was a 10mm or 11mm f1.7 version.

    • @artistjoh
      @artistjoh 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Albert Fasth The 10 and 11mm (20 and 21mm full frame) are a popular prime focal length in full frame, yet is neglected in MFT with only zooms or the Voigtländer 10 0.95 to choose from. In full frame 24mm is not even ultra wide, yet in MFT 12 is as wide as they want to go without going to a fisheye, or zoom. The zooms are either too slow or too heavy. We need an AF option at 10 or 11 and f2 or 1.7 would be perfect.
      It hadn’t occurred to me about a vlogging/MFT focus giving incentive for small and wider lenses, but it does sound logical. I am hoping that the new owners of Olympus will see the vlog camera trend and develop an Olympus vlogging model as well, and that would add extra need for small and wide lenses.
      I am very optimistic that new owners will push Olympus to be more inventive again. After the Yakuza links and arrests back in 2012, Olympus Corp became shellshocked and started to fall behind in camera development. Hopefully OM Digital will make the engineers feel supported again.
