Good video, however the suburban train yard was not a replacement for Jolimont, it was built much later....around 2010
Great stuff young fella
Good work, although was surprised to see an image of the Climax loco during the video considering it was made out of Pennsylvania in the USA! ;)
Yes, the Climax was constructed in the USA. However when it was imported it was assembled at Newport Workshops before being transported by Victorian Railways to Moe. Here it was transferred to the 2'6" track to run under its own steam to Erica.
Awesome video mate. Potentially you could try fix your microphone by getting a pop filter to help filter through background noise, and stop microphone noises?
Awesome stuff! A lot of history has gone in and out of Newport! Another great video!
Nice one: I worked at Newport WS in 1980 as an apprentice in the electrical training area. It was just north of the foundry.
Wish I visited the workshops, but I have visited the Newport Museum!
Wait, I thought V56 was the last locomotive to be made at Newport Workshops?
I'm pretty sure its M232
It's very easy to erase the past in the name of the future.
I've been to Newport, it's in Wales (UK) There's a lot of Victorian stuff there, but it ain't nothing like this
that was very interesting. I didn't know that Deniliquin had workshops of their own. Also very cool info about the Bendigo Workshops. Do you have any information on the workshops near Bendigo Station?
Im pretty sure you are referring to Bendigo Yard, and no I don't have much on them.
governor weld may not have been the first steam loco in wa. it is commonly thought that it is ballaarat, now on display in busselton. also, a steam traction engine was imported from uk in about the 1850's to pull wagons from a lead mine to geraldton. it was not very successful pulling 2 or 3 wagons along sandy roads.
I'm pretty sure the second image of "Governor Weld", was actually Ballaarat
