Idk if I'll make sense...but it's more like he took the whole top half and treated it like a quadratic formula rather than difference of two squares It looks Kinda like something you'd see in the first principle method ( x²+2xh+h²) but in this case it's (cos²x +2sinxcosx+ sin²x)
