I'm often asked what equipment I use to create the videos. The devices include the Panasonic DMC-G7 camera, Panasonic HDC-TM90 video camera, GoPro Hero2 HD camera, Tascam DR-05 audio recorder, Audio-Technica ATR-3350 lapel microphone, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W560 digital camera, the Kodak Zi-8 video camera, my iPhone 5S. I also got my CSCE with Dave’s help. I passed all three elements in one sitting last Saturday, there is NO WAY that I would have passed without Dave’s excellent teaching. I can’t wait to get a call sign so I can start talking. Now the real learning begins.
Thanks
A person with the First Phone license will have most of the tech material already all the way up through Amateur Extra. Year ago, I knew several hams who went the other way and said the AE ham license was good prep for 1st Phone. He would still have to learn the Amateur specific material, Rules & Regs, Frequency allocations, etc.
I have signed up for a class and am super excited.
In Poland, the exams are still on hold. They never did any remote sessions. I'm already waiting a year and checking few times a week. Still nothing. This is really frustrating.
Hey Dave. Love the videos and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I followed your General license series and passed the exam on Saturday. Thank you again.
A caveat on re-acquiring your General: You must PROVE that you had the license, and where you had it. My dad just went through this, and regained his General. He had to prove that he had the call sign (QSO cards) and prove that he lived at the address.
I passed my Tech and General exams last February. Now I am reading the ARRL Extra Class Manual. I have time to study, as the question pool referenced in the manual is good until 6/30/24. My problem is retaining the information I have studied. The Extra test is harder than the General. I wonder if trying to memorize the correct answers for the test questions is a better way to prepare for the test?
I'm from Lake City Florida
Tell me 3 times i tried online all 3 times in the middle of the test lost the internet - The real pain was when I lost it with only 2 questions to go
I have s disability & is hard to sit for long period of time even have to go to bathroom quickly when needed so how will that affect me when taking the test ????
Hey Gary, it may. When you contact the VE explain to them your situation and they may be able to accommodate you.
FYI: All the test questions and answers are published. The Technician and General are each 37 questions and you can miss 9. Calculators without a memory function are permitted but a mobile phone calculator is not. A minimum of 3 volunteer examiners must observe you during the test and grade your test. Leaving during a test or phone calls are not permitted. Leaving the examine room while testing would void that test. There are numerous computer programs and mobile phone apps that will allow you to test yourself to judge time needed for a test.
Forget asking public servants for permission, we are their masters, they utterly lack required Personam jurisdiction. Never forget that.
I’m an oggy!!
It's funny people pronounce Morse code as morris instead of properly saying more's.
