Well, democracy was not designed by Greeks the way we use it today. It was foolproof and Political and economic powers were separate: politicians had to study for longer years than any other person. But we don't have an alternative, do we? The PR system is time and resource consuming. It's not feasible for a country with millions of billion of people. For democracy to work, the citizens should be educated and empowered and should keep a check and balance. However what a common person needs is food, water, clothes and a home.
Mistakes can be made in a democracy. No form of government can stop that. Advantage in democracy is mistakes cannot be hidden for long as there is a space for public discussion and room for correction.
