I wonder if they'll stick with standard VIN procedures, and the letters I, O, Q, U, and Z will never be used. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration specification only says I, O, and Q can't be used, but a number of manufactures will avoid U (confused with V) and Z (confused with 2).
Thank you so much for this important Series number identification. I will keep this video in my records to help me (ID) Kubota subcompact Tractor. Very good information on series numbers. I never knew how to read them.
For the few years older ones and mine was a rental and got it at auction with 970 something hours, I just topped the 1000 hour mark on it! How do we tell the year from the 5 digit number?
Probably won't happen...Keep in mind in the "BX" lineup, you have the BX1880, BX2380, BX2680, and the BX23S....they probably won't build over 99,000 of each one of those sub-models would be my guess...the following year, those last 5 digits of course would start over at 00000, which I believe is not used, it would start at 00001 and go to 99,999 again, if they built that many...but the 5th digit I believe in the serial number gives the machine class, so each one of the sub-models in the BX line has its own 5th digit letter so Kubota could build 99,999 of each sub-model....which gives you close to 400k machines...they probably don't come close to building that many each year LOL.
I have always wondered why if I buy a tractor that never sold and sat on the dealers lot for four years it is new the day I buy it, but if I want to trade it in the next day I am told it is four years old ?
You wondered this, but was told that it's 4 years old? Confusing statement. In the video he states it would be returning a 1 day old tractor as the "model year" is the date that it was sold as new.
Does Kubota have records that show what year a tractor with the 5-digit serial number was built? Had an older L2500, BX2230 and M105X that I was wondering what year model they were. Thanks!
If a BX tractor is built is 2022 based on vin. Should I be looking for better price on that then the same tractor built in 2023 ? I noticed you mention model year is when sold but feels like if you traded it in or sold it. People would consider it a 2022 model.
Now with a 17 digit serial number I can find out that it took six months from manufacture of my tractor (at factory '8') before it was delivered to dealer.

I like the custom Messick’s grill on the BX 👍🏻

Thanks! I needed that.
Will this serial number decoder sheet be available online?

You can't
What happens when they produce the 100,000 BX?
The whole system crashes.

Interesting ty 😊 😮
I just acquired a T1400H lawn tractor. Can you help me determine its year/month of manufacture? Serial number 32742. Thanks! Dave
Where can I find how to decode a 5 digit serial? I can’t find it anywhere!
the 5 digit serial does not mean anything. Only dealers can look up the details in the computer.
@@MessicksEquip gotcha. Thanks
letter d you think it's for cylinders I'm not sure... On my l3560 mine is a A ?

You have to call a dealer, we can look up the retail dates

Just because it was built in 2022, doesn't mean it didn't invoice in 2023. It's not a guarantee It's cheaper.
My L5030 had that same style number.
What size grooming finishing mower and rotary cutter do you recommend for the L2501 tractor?
60"
Is that the RCR1860 and the FDR1660? I noticed there are several models to choose from. Such as a FDR25..
@@andyward3173 Yes, 15 or 16 series implements.
I have a number TC-xxxxYYYY and then a 5 digit serial number.. Can I tell what year it was manufactured frmo that.
My goodness! I thought med school was hard.😂😂😂

Not sure why they didn't just use a standard VIN format.
First 😊
