will these stats go well with your bard/paladin build? i was thinking of doing a bard as my main/party face or custom character build @@Cephalopocalypse
Interesting stats. I am going to give this a try for a Tactician playthrough. However I don't like to waste a spell slot on speak with animals because the potions are so common & easy to find. Also I prefer to have sleight of hand proficiency. I don't use Shadowheart but guidance is available from an easily acquired necklace.
Thanks, glad you liked it! And sure, for bards the most important combat spells are Cloud of Daggers (lvl 2) and Hypnotic Pattern (lvl 3). You'll want the heaviest armor you can find (full plate if you went life cleric, breastplate if you went knowledge) and a shield. Your melee weapon doesn't really matter, so anything with some cool effects - there's a sword with some bonuses for bard you get midway through act 1 that's pretty nice. And a crossbow for early game ranged attacks, though you'll mostly be using spells in combat. Also keep an eye out for an item that boosts your INT, available pretty early! It helps with a lot of skills :)
Some ppl dun realise the Charisma of the character talking to a vendor, affects the price also, so was I back then, I was surprised when I talk to a shop with Gale with Charisma 12 instead of my character's Charisma 8, and found the prices changed.. I imagined how much gold I wasted using the wrong character to buy and sell.. so now I use Wyll as my trader.. or just get a Bard Hireling to do the transactions.
I am late to the comments I did this build with 10 college lore bard/1 knowledge Cleric/1 thief Rogue. However I took Halfling for lucky. Any 1 got rerolled and I still had more than enough to get by on rolls of 2+. I had a harder time fighting though. I did play middle of the road, not tactician.
Nice! Yeah halfling is an excellent choice as well. If you feel like your bard isn't holding up as well in combat, one of the easiest ways is to get them Haste via Magical Secrets, and have them concentrate on that most fights to power up a martial class
@@Cephalopocalypse I finished the playthrough last friday night. I meant the class combo wasn't as up to duking it out as other choices would have been. I am going to try a combat type, and go tactician next. Melee, or caster not sure yet. Leaning on Cleric or cleric/sorcerer tempest. Along with Shadowheart doing the same. Time will tell. Oh when you getting back around to the game with the gith sorcerer?
Very true! I think the most important combat spells are bless and healing word, but the 3rd has a lot of fun utility options - Create Water is definitely a good one! Also consider Sanctuary, it has a ton of cool uses as well
@@Cephalopocalypse yep, learned about Sanc some time ago. I started new game this morning, 30 or so mods and all... and ofc we got new big patch 6 hour later :) Perfect timing damn it :)
You get it if you choose a different cleric subclass - it's a choice between the skill expertise from Knowledge or the heavy armor from Life (or heavy armor and martial weapons from Tempest)
With this build I wouldn't, though I do have a sorcerer build guide up ("Best Character in Baldur's Gate 3") if you're interested in that! If you want a little more physical power on this build you could consider a 2-level paladin dip, but that does come at the cost of reaching 6th-level spells. To be honest, for this build the best way for this character to have combat power is honestly just to keep getting bard levels, the bard spells are excellent, and this setup is already one of the strongest characters in the game in terms of combat as well as the skill synergy.
How would you take acrobatics instead of insight. When you got the insight from guild Artisan. And there isn’t a background that gives persuasion and acrobatics I don’t understand
Good question! Easiest way is to take something like Urchin and then select the remaining skills with your Bard skills gained at level 3. As long as you avoid getting Deception or Performance from a background, the level 5 Actor respec will still give you two extra skills. Alternatively, use Guild Artisan, take the Wisdom skills as level ups, and then use the gith astral knowledge on Intelligence for those proficiencies.
8 int characters should have limited dialogue options like in Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. :) It's a shame such old game is space years ahead of current "roleplaying" games. But I guess modern gamers would call it trash since you can't romance animals and choose gender identity.
Arcanum was a excellent game for sure. In neverwinter nights 1, there was special dialogue for being a troll - you could only be a troll using a mod, but they put the dialogue in anyways. Baldur's Gate hits a good balance I think - there's still a fair amount of weird hidden stuff like that, but it also comes with voiced NPCs and modern character creation options as you mention
Minor detail for stas : Go 10-12-13-8-14-15 and put +2 Charisma and +1 CONS to have the same stats, with +1 strenght and so you have no malus in rolls
Great call, the slight difference from tabletop stat spreads messed me up. This is definitely correct!

Awesome build guide! Very tempted to re-spec my lvl 5 bard now
I respecced my main character to make this guide and then was like... hang on, what if I just leave it this way?
Great guide, is there any suggestions for spells, equipment, weapons and armor for combat for this build as well?

Great video man. Keep it up !
Thanks so much, more every day! :D

True! You can also get a discount by using disguise self to make yourself the same race as the vendor - luckily, this build gets that bonus as well!
What about a Zariel Tiefling, Guild Artisan, 2 Ancient, 1 life Cleric, 9 Lore bard... supportive party face
Or same character, 1 bard, 1 life, 3 lore, 2 ancient, 5 bard

6:34 Create water is pretty useful, even critical during one event :) and it doesnt care about your WIS :)

What weapons did you use for this?
Bard life 4ever
I don't see where Heavy Armor Proficiency comes from on this build.

Did you not watch the video? Its literally the first thing he does.
Do you think this build could be mixed with warlock or sorcerer to make it a stronger fighter as well?

Any chance you can do a Dual melee swords build Bard??
Why? Swords Bard wants the biggest weapon possible to do the most damage with their battle inspiration.
ill go 1 cleric 2 paladín 9 bard
Also a strong build! That lets you get heavy armor while still going knowledge cleric.
just watched this aggian cuz mods, write a script. This was usefull more thanonce
dont think u can use bardic inspiration on yourself for the checks sadly.
It's true - the skill check math here ends up slightly off as a result, but should still be extremely high
