The Portable 3D OLED TV you can WEAR goes Full SPATIAL!! - XREAL Beam Pro & Air 2 Pro

- I think I tried and own pretty much every single AR/Smart glasses on the market, it's not a healthy thing to do, and it's arguably pointless, having just a single set of eyes available, but I'm gonna be honest,
I was really looking forward to trying this!
This is the Beam Pro, which is meant to be the start of a new chapter in the AR/Smart glasses industry.
It looks like a phone, it might act like a phone, but apparently, I can't call it a phone, because its purpose is actually to go through the limitations of our phones, becoming the perfect companion of our glasses, and making these glasses that we talked about so much, a new immersive platform, more usable and enjoyable, not just for media consumption, things that they were for sure best at, but well, for pretty much everything. Unlocking the possibility to use millions of apps, directly from the Play Store, in a full AR, Spatial way. is this spatial computing?
Hey tyriel here, welcome to the VR tech channel!
Let's discover together the XREAL Beam Pro, the Smartph.... device to get to power finally a real AR experience, with our glasses. with also, some very cool tricks up to its sleeve.
Let's get into it!

well, I'm saying it, if you have the Xreal Glasses, this is a must-have. ( shhhh the XREAL Air are on offer today o.O )
You need to do collabs with other youtubers if you want more subscribers.
😎
I have the og set. Will they worn with the beam pro like the new glasses?
@@JerameatC Hi there. XREAL Beam Pro is compatible with XREAL Air, Air 2, Air 2 Pro and Air 2 Ultra.
@@JerameatC Hey there! XREAL Beam Pro works with XREAL Air, Air 2, Air 2 Pro and Air 2 Ultra.
Thanks dude. You're so happy and love vr. Keep up the great work.
Tyriel, how long have you had that dark streak in the nail of your left thumb? This could be completely harmless melanonychia or possible sign of skin cancer called subungual melanoma. If you haven't had it checked, please do so ASAP!
Hey! thanks for the comment here! Actually from a few years now, I'm checking it every year with my dermatologist, and for now everything seems to be under control. fingers crossed
Hey Tyriel! Loved the way you showed off XREAL Beam Pro, from streaming to the spatial camera! 😎
Hello there, i got a question regarding the beam pro. Can you connect another console to the beam pro via USB c to have the consoles screen on the glasses with the spacial awarness?
@@5100-b5b nope
Ive got mine pre-ordered. Cant wait to review it.
Aaaaaaand I sent it back. For the 1% of you who are going to use this for emulation, don't. The video studder is horrendous.
Small note: great video…but the Xreal Beam Pro isn’t going to the be hardware companion to the Xreal Ar 2 Ultra glasses. Xreal has put up a small note on their website about the Ultra glasses, stating that a “companion device” will be coming out for them. It makes sense. The Ultra glasses will be working with 6 degrees of freedom (dof).
So it would make sense to put out a device (and likely a custom designed modified version of Nebula designed to work with 6 DOF) which would be custom-made to work with the Ultra glasses and their additional two cameras mounted to either top side of the frames looking forward and a bit down from the user perspective.
The Beam Pro takes all of the previous Xreal glasses (except perhaps for the initial “Light” glasses which had fully functional cameras that had 6 DOF AND the ability to take photos and videos) and gives them the Nebula experience to have two virtual apps running side by side, which are fully switchable from right to left and vice versa. But whatever other hardware “companion” device is coming to support 6 DOF should be an amazing game changer for the Ultra glasses. I have my Ultra order put in. After a couple of days they haven’t yet shipped, so I am left with the thought of cancelling my order.
Yet still I crave that extra fifteen DOF over the previous models, and am interested in seeing what 6 DOF means as apps begin to become fuly developed. What do you think? Would YOU like to be able to manipulate apps and their controls with your fingertips in the air right in front of you? I know I sure would, particularly when I find myself with the inability to send an outlook email straight out of Chrome with either the Beam Pro or my iClever keyboard!
Would be an instant buy for a lot of people if fully supported:
- emulators in 3D (3ds, or ps2 gc etc with stereoscopic plugin)
- feature-rich high definition 3d video player (360 mode, local stored files etc)
Something to add to the con list is that it's not possible to use it wired like the original beam. So it won't be too useful with devices which can't wireless cast. We could, of course, connect the glasses directly but we'll lose all the extra capabilities like anchor or resizing the screen.
no sideview either!
Is this only compatible with xreal glasses? Or can i use viture with these?
When are we going get a wireless version of this
All good but the FOV is to narrow for me, when it reaches 70+ I'll consider, thx for the review through.
What is the refresh rate output of Nebula OS on the glasses?
Can you watch TH-cam VR180 videos in 3D with this?
Thanks Tyriel. As I understand it, the old beam allowed the glasses to be connected to the pc and other devices with spatial appearance and multi-monitor capability. I gather from your review that this is no longer possible with this new device. That's important to me because I'm looking for a device that I can do office work with.
Yep, as It doesn't have a display in function
Great review! One question I have - when you watched the movie on the plane, was it a downloaded movie in app? I want to be able to download a movie in Netflix for example and watch it with my XREAL glasses. I currently can’t do that because of the DRM restrictions.
I hope this is a Resurgence for a 3D photos
Me too! They just hit differently
@@Tyrielwood Agreed! When I was learning photography many scenes I thought would make good photos turning out to be boring photos. I later learn the skill of seeing the world flat. The stereo aspect of sight is something I wanted to capture since I tired a ViewMaster as a kid. I might just pick up the phone just for that feature alone. Thanks
@@pgnewfoundland getting 3d shots is so different photography too, I noticed that keeping the right horizon is kind of a must, and the focus should be more on reviving the moment than composition, everything in the frame has to be on both cameras to avoid discomfort
Love your videos - thanks for the dedication to VR. Couldn’t help but notice discolouration on your thumbnail [like the one on your thumb, not the video thumbnail😂] - it’s a sign of vitamin or zinc deficiency, you’re probably aware - I just wanted to point it out, it’s so easy to get caught up in content creation and not pay attention to healthy eating, imbalances etc. Sending loads of love and gratitude for your work!
I'm wondering how the Beam Pro might work for photogrammetry.
I am also wondering when mine is going to arrive.
waiting for a phone version too
What do you mean by "full DRM free"? Which level of Widevine is it? Or what resolution, FullHD or 720p like on every Android phone?
Hey there! XREAL Beam Pro has Widevine L1.
@@XREAL_Global and what about resolution for Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Apple TV+ etc?
are 3D MVC MKVs supported or have i to convert it first to SBS?
Is it also a regular phone? Can i insert my sim card? I dont want to carry two devices.. Also can you share some spatial video sample? thanks
Hi thanks for the review.😊
A few questions, are the 3D pictures and videos compatible with quest or other glasses?
Can These files be exported for PC or other os ?
Can it support Rockid Max too?
How do you find it compared to new Rokid AR Lite + Max2? Which one would you prefer?
good demonstration, got me interested.
Are you able to use the glasses to shoot video? For example, can I record my son's basketball game by start video recording and using the glasses to watch the game?
The glasses don’t have cameras. You record using the phone and playback on glasses.
@@fronojo thanks
You''ll be able to shoot videos using XREAL Beam Pro and then watch them back in spatial immersion with XREAL Beam Pro and a pair of XREAL AR glasses! 😎
Are any of these types of glasses able to connect to a PC with head tracking for gaming? Would be cool to have something so lightweight for sim racing rather than bulky and expensive VR setups
Bought a Rokid Max last year and I regret not to choose Xreal now
How is the picture quality when compared to Apple vision pro
Do yoh know if the spatial video can be viewed on other devices like the quest 3, or is it locked to the xreal galleery app?
Hey there! Spatial content shot on XREAL Beam Pro can be viewed on other devices, should they be able to play the same file type!
@@XREAL_Global What is the file type?
That's what I'm looking for. I'd get it if it works with headsets.
@@JAHDUBProductions I've since purchased the beam pro, and the spatial media does work on a quest 3 but it actually looks better on the xreal glasses.
@@ItsFreeVRealEstate thank you
pls do a non sponsored honest comparison between xreal ultra and beam pro vs Rokid lite vs viture pro + dock station
Did you try with virtue glasses?
I just want a device to watch movies in 3D and 4k with hoops.
Hey Guys, I have an issue with my Air2Pro's. The issue is that I cannot activate 3D mode on my glasses. I have a spatial video that was shot on the Beam Pro and while playing it, I tried pressing Brightness + button on the glasses for 2 seconds, as per instructions in the manual. Supposedly there should be a beep and then the glasses should turn on the 3D. But nothing happens and I still see two side by side videos. My glasses have the last SW/FW version available, as I always keep my electronics up to date. I wrote to XREAL, but haven't heard from them yet. Anyone of you with some suggestions how to fix that?
this xreal beam pro works only with Xreal glasses i don't know if will work with my Rokid air glasses i want a answer please
I've pre ordered. waiting for mine.
How exciting!
Surface Duo 2! Yeah baby!
XD one of the few ahahah
I have the same skin on mine. I'm bummed they discontinued Duo.
@@MatthewWilliams-kh4ww daily driving it?
@Tyrielwood To be honest I use it more as tablet, secondary device. But I use it frequently. I think if I were to pick up another phone with a similar form factor, it would be the One Plus open. Us Duo users are a niche. I'm glad you are still rocking yours.
I used my duo1 daily for 2 years. Never could find a duo 2 to replace it with. Shane they didn't keep going
Hi Ty, miss shooting you in Onward 😂 does this work with other glasses ie Rokid Max???
lol XD it doesn't, I tried XD
Didn’t see a price. I’ve got the AVP and will have to settle for that.
I saw your video about the Rokid AR Lite. Considering the experience of the spacial computing with 3dof with each brand glasses: is it better on the Rokid station 2 or on the Xreal Beam Pro? Which one you prefer and any major pros/cons of each?
the Rokid station 2 is still in early development, so I don't think it would be fair to compare them for now, I would say the difference is that one has the screen the other one doesn't, with all the pros and cons of it. But I'll try to make a comparison video for sure if I get the full version :)
@Tyrielwood looking forward for that comparison video 🙂
Good explanation thank you! I want glasses to work on my pc. I think you said the monitor is not big enougth or the resolution is not enougth.
@@martiniac2 the monitor can be big enough, I just wished I could bring it closer to me for better readability :)
Preordered mine beam pro so hoping it will arrive before I go holiday
Sounds exciting!
Isn't DRM and black screen (sound only no image) an issue with the beam pro?
Xreal Glass with the beam pro, can we experience SBS 180° immersive video just like those VR headset just like Quest 3.?
cons - not a phone. I'll wait for the version that gets me cell service. Otherwise, thanks for the review. Looks like XREAL is making good progress.
The cellular version will be for data only… it still won’t have actual phone functionality. It’ll be no different than a cellular iPad or tethering the Wi-Fi version to your smartphone.
Why would you need a 3rd tier phone?
@@fronojo that’s a good point with tethering. I’d still probably wait for one with service to avoid having to always connect to another device.
@@Andy-ms7pu this is a great point. I need to be reminded of what it’s like to suffer.
Would you say it's better to buy these glasses over the meta quest 3?
I would say that I prefer the glasses for media and the Quest for gaming etc., they both have their use scenarios
@@Tyrielwood thanks for the reply but if you had to choose only one which would you go with cuz I'm about to buy one and not sure which one to choose now.
Remote desktop, portable keyboard you can work anywhere 😊
Nice description on this new phhho Xreal beam pro. 😆
Does the spatial recording have to be the Air 2? or can it be done with the Air 1?
Air 1 too
XREAL Beam Pro works with our line of Air series glasses - from XREAL Air to XREAL Air 2 Ultra!
can you try out some Emulators on the Beam Pro and make a video about the power of the Beam Pro chip. Thanks
I actually played some Diablo Immortal ( I know, bad game) in there and it was running just fine. I need ETA Prime for some actual benchmarks :P
how do you use this to play ps5?
No side view while doing other tasks, no deal!
Will it only work with Xreal branded glasses ?
Yes
* 6 or 8 gb of ram
Is there any audio lag when connecting to Bluetooth headphones?
Wait for gen 3 or 4 or maybe 5 when all pcs are in one glasses
Sounds like the technology is going in the right direction. I’ll wait for ones that are clear and don’t look like sunglasses. So I can wear them anywhere and not look out of place so much. Like the Rayneo x2 but with better resolution and thinner frames. So you can use to “spatial” compute.
there's screen protectors available in Aliexpress and Amazon
they moved fast!!
This is the camera spacing I was hoping we'd get on the iPhone 16. It looks like they're opting to keep them very close together, even though this majorly hampers its ability to provide adequate depth. No official announcement yet, so I guess we could still see it, but I suspect not. All of that said... these are still just basic 3D videos that we're CALLING spatial. But true spatial video is volumetric video, meaning that it is more like a pointcloud or 3D model... and that will likely require extremely high quality lidar as well as a healthy dose of AI to fill in the gaps. The only way to truly gather spatial video is to have multiple 3D cameras at different locations around a scene... and the solution there is probably an evolution of gaussian splats... which if you haven't heard of them... look it up!
True, I used the apple term to make it more understandable, but spatial videos are another thing
Too expensive for what it does. I've heard that the software is buggy and it's not available in Canada.
Have you seen the Goovis Art?
@@TheUberTrekkie I've seen them, but I've never tried them
No video input is such a disappointment on the Beam Pro.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M that was one of my fav features of the original beam for sure
The avp hate is dense without comparing quality
Can I watch a 3D movie with this beam pro?
@@corneliswilkes it does support SBS, as far as I know you have to download them and use the gallery app
Sure can!
Could you connect it to a Blu-ray player and watch a 3d blu ray?

It's funny how people complain about phones 📱 being to big and inconvenient because they take up too much space, now you're going to have a phone in one pocket & this devise in another...🙄
1. not many people are complaining about phones being too big (most phones are big and people buy them)
2. glasses add so much more to the experience
but how does it play pokemon go?... ;)
Can I get that "bad" phone of yours? Please? If it's a Surface 2 I'll give you $100... Hmm? Just think about it. I really want a Nintendo DS emulator 🤣
The Phone: O - O

*the made-for-AR device 😉

Being able to lock the screen and put it in your pocket is not a limitation of Android. People lock their phone and put it in their pockets, all over the world Bro, lol. The Beam Pro runs XReals varient of Android 14. Not quite sure why you would think that?
@@ShaunaMorgan android turns off the video out when turning off the screen, so no, you can't use the glasses with your phone if locked in your pocket
The Beam Pro IS an Android device. XReal programmed that functionality, for obvious reasons.
So, saying it's the limitation of the OS, is inaccurate. For instance, do you think if Samsung or Apple made XR glasses, they would be incapable of programming their phones to allow display out while the screen was off?
The wording means that the OS is incapable of that function, when obviously it IS capable. Just most phone manufactures don't have the motivation to program that functionality. XReal does, to support that device, thus more sales of the XR glasses and the Beam Pro.
@@Tyrielwoodphone dependant
If you were using Smart Connect on a Motorola Edge series you'd have full desktop mode which doesn't need to phone screen to be on. The phone can be used as a pointer mouse and touchpad like in the video too. Obviously you just get one window in the glasses and not AR Interface.
Please try to play warzone 2 on PC and share your impressions. I want to buy one of such devices as xreal air2, viture pro, rokid max 2 or goovis, but I don’t understand which ones will work better with a PC, because the opinions of bloggers differ on the Internet. Thank you
Except being a cool technology, how useful it is really?
too low resolution to enjoying media
I don't get it. Pretty scattered presentation.
Why don't they call it "Shameless AVP clone OS"?
Why doesn't AVP call there OS shameless PS vita clone OS?
All this is nice EXCEPT I use my beam for pc gaming and this CRAP has ZERO physical connection point for any devices. I was misled by xreal because they never said this so I bought one only to be let down when it arrived. THE ORIGINAL BEAM IS SO MUCH BETTER! I cannot find any use for this and wish I never ordered it.
The performance of spatial photography or video are very limited. Today they are really not useful for someone who is engaged in photography. It is a nice toy for people who want to see videos on train or abroad. But a camera for engaged people? No. Today not.
The fact that it has no video passthrough like the old beam makes this device utterly useless.
@@PhotoJohn80 the idea in theory is that you will not need the other device, having most of the functionalities with Android, but if you used to use it for the steam deck, yep, the beam is still an option
@@Tyrielwood yup. I was hoping for it to have video passthrough for the switch. The og beam does not put the switch into dock mode so I was hoping this would and could do it. But yeah big bummer for switch owners.
does it work with vr porn?
Can U watch real 3D movies??
Sure can! It supports SBS
Again. I don't see the need for this. It's not gonna catch on.
@@MadersPie mostly the full android and play store implementation, that unfortunately is not possible with our phones
@Tyrielwood I would rather just use my phone then. It's still just a flat panel either way. Or I would just get a Quest headset. The AR glasses are cool don't get me wrong, but the phone feels like a gimmick.
@@MadersPie totally understand your point, for me personally is very important to have at least a 3DoF experience, and with my phone is wasn't possibile ( at least not for everything I wanted to do, like moonlight or apps), about the quest, I actually use both, as the quest is better for gaming, but this is just better for media and portability :) that's just me tho, I like having options :)
Ty my friend, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way but that upward intonation at end of 80% of your sentences needs to go. I predict your views and subscribers will go up quite a bit if you can work on that and stop it from distracting from your otherwise great content and presentation.
Can you watch 3d Blu-ray if you hook this up to a player or does this not allow that pass through like the first beam did? @xreal_global
