As and old school guy hanging on to youth. Arm/elbow pads are a must, a surgeon told me once elbows are the worst joint to damage. Very difficult to repair and very long recovery. It may not be cool but armour up
True. I was seeing a girl who worked in A&E and when she found out I was into mtb she told me to wear elbow pads because she saw loads of elbow injuries.
Get gloves too. Had my finger ripped in half on a similar crash - an armored glove would have turned it into a glancing blow and I'd probably have ridden the rest of the day. As it was, spent four months recovering and was unable to drive for 3 weeks +
Got a double broken radial head. It is just complete shit as you can do literally nothing cause both arms are wrapped. Needed surgery on one of them and it took 6 weeks until I firstly drove again and they told me that this was unusually fast.

Awesome riding and video, glad you are OK. Another proponent for pads here. My wife got tired of me ending up in the ER so she asked me to start wearing pads. I hated it at first but now I love it. I've taken some extremely rough falls that would have ripped my knees and/or elbows down to the bone but walked away with nothing but maybe a bruise. Plus, it's kinda a rush to take a bad fall and then pop back up with no damage done. Now, I've got to figure out how to protect myself from vertebrae compression fractures. @@paulwilliamsd everyone’s budget is different obviously, I’ll always have a regular bike but I ride this one a lot. Tons of more exploring and super fun!
That drop is deceiving. At first glance it doesn’t look so bad… until you add it all up… tall drop to pretty flat landing into rough shale… big rock wall to the left so you naturally head a bit right… land with high speed in loose shale and need to turn hard left right away. Nah… I skipped it.
That drop seems to require an immediate and perhaps overly difficult left turn after landing. Would you agree, or is it common to have to turn quick after a big drop like that?

Glad you're okay bro. That was pretty gnarly riding! Question- who makes those brakes and levers? I'm building up a SC Chameleon and those fit the look and performance! Thanks and hope you're back on the trails!!
Back at it, thanks dude!
Those are Hayes dominion A4 in purple. Calipers are that Color too. I have them linked on the home page of my channel!
Unlucky with the crash!! Looks like you just went over the edge of the trail!! Would elbow pads have helped with the impact, maybe the arm wouldn't have been as bad as it was??
Good run...get better...subscribed
Thanks for that! 🙏
Tough break. Seems like everyone is crashing lately…
Yeah it does seem like that!
Watching that made me shake too, In a scared type of feeling. Glad you're okay! I bet tha adrenaline helped a ton haha!
Totally!! I figured I’d let my emergency contact know what was up right away incase the adrenaline wore off and it got worse.
Thankfully I just calmed down and it wasn’t an issue, but ya never know!
@@jordanchaplinmtb exactly. staying calm is probably the best thing that could've been done in that situation, which is probably what saved you from a lot of pain too!
OMG! Man, that was cool.
Risk a person take to the reward. As I get older less risk are taken. Most of the trail looked great till you hit that.I would defiantly go around it.
Totally, always balance of risks. Made the wrong choice this time around. Usually I’m pretty good with striking that balance. Still a great trail!
What a trail! Running a trail like that alone is pretty brave on its own too. Glad you’re OK.
The most important question of all though: is the bike OK? 😂
better then my 25 days ;)
Yeah I’m surprised it wasn’t worse. I’ve had less horrendous falls that put me out longer. Like not getting unclipped on a climb 🤣
wish you the best, it happens, better that than a broken bone
Totally, I’m so lucky!
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
yeah that happens when you run off the trail. lol. hey it got me too lol
oooof .. felt that
I felt pronounced disconfort start to finish just watching this. Riding gnarly trails where a slight mistake can mean broken bones, paralysis or death is horrendous and unacceptable to me.
What a trail though!
You’re a great rider.. but watching I couldn’t keep up with navigating the turns. I’m glad you’re ok! Did the bike suffer any damage? You sure were riding hard down that huge forever mountain 😎
Thank you!
The bike was totally fine!
Glad ur ok. Was that an electric bike u were on
Thanks, yes it is!
Do u think an electric bike is worth the high cost? Just curious? Thanks
Yeah risk to reward isn’t worth it imo
Poor dog
That drop seems to require an immediate and perhaps overly difficult left turn after landing. Would you agree, or is it common to have to turn quick after a big drop like that?
Nice riding. Hope u doing well. What settings did u use for ur action4 here? Lg
Thanks!
4K / 24fps, rock solid, ultra wide, auto everything
I’m gonna drop a tutorial on shorts and IG in the next couple days that show my mounts and settings!
@@jordanchaplinmtbthank you 😊
