I think DJI nailed it with that 70mm lens, such a great focal length for being able to really add additional shots that are dramatically different than the standard drone shot. Instead of an interchangeable lens phantom DJI gave us everything in one drone without needing to land to change lenses

I agree! Love the compressed look from the air 🚁

    • @MrTechcat
      @MrTechcat ปีที่แล้ว +1

It would have been nice to have a second 70mm lens but this is just a smaller sensor cropping the image. So the second lens is not even close to 70m, more like 35mm and 2x crop.

I wonder how much an optically zooming m43 would have weighed and cost instead of 3 cameras....and we'd have m43 quality at all lengths.

Great review. I’m really excited for these lens options. I just upgraded my Mavic Pro 1 to the Mini 3 Pro to save some money, they put so much value in it. I would bet the hyper lapses were being thrown off with wind, even the smallest movement at that zoomed in focal length will show through in the final video. We might need to rely on post stabilization if filming hyper lapses on those longer lenses.

I currently have the Mavic 2 Pro and have been looking for a way to replace it with the Mavic 3 Pro. One thing I really hope DJI does is to add D-LOG and D-LOG M to all 3 camera in some form or another. I have a feeling that those people who color grade in these color profiles are going to have difficulty matching them together seamlessly.

I often find myself hoping that the Mavic 3 Classic would have better object tracking capabilities. It tends to struggle with tracking cars on different types of terrain, from open sand deserts and beaches to trickier terrain like following tracks in the woods. Since I mainly take drone shots of nature and cars, I frequently encounter issues where I need to fly very close to a car for DJI to recognize it and track it reliably. Is it possible for me to use the tele camera and stay further away while still having the car recognized?

I’m new to drones and looking to capture great video footage. I am curious about a few things though. How or what do you use to edit and color grade the footage that has been captured. Also, the hyper lapse feature at the end of your video blew me away, and I’m wondering how you captured something like that. Any tips on how you can capture hyper lapse video with a light to dark setting or vice versa? Any tips or feedback would be appreciated. Love the video! Thank you so much for any and all help.

Hey Billy, 'm not feeling the 3x zoom - it was great to see all three camera shots side by side and of course, settings. time of day / available light will affect the image but the 3x zoom looks soft and lossy. I would compare that image to the 2x digital zoom on the previous Mavic 3. Thoughts?

I personally would prefer one improved camera than 3. Like one super 35mm sensor lens.
If you shot with the mavic 3 with the 4/3 sensor 5.1k then cropped in to 4k that would get you to what 45mm? Is the 70mm that much better especially being a smaller sensor.

Had a lot of time with the Mavic 3 and was looking forward to a future upgrade to the Pro version. And? Did DJI fix the 7x camera? No, it still requires a lot of light, is noisy, and 8 bits. 48 MP in a 70mm camera? I don't think so). Why not say that this is a sensor from the Mini 3 Pro (12MP)? Three different sensors, and three different profiles. Is this really PRO? Why didn't they add a green strobe on top, which is in the Enterprise series, if it still weighs more than 900 grams? Unclear. And yes, 900 grams in the EU is C2 with all the restrictions. Upset.
Anyway, thank you Billy for your review. You did an amazing job.

I noticed in this video that you can do Active Track in 4K60. On the Air 2S which I currently fly, I have to switch it to 4K24 or 4K30. I kept wondering why it kept telling me I was in the wrong recording format. Also if you have currently own a RC Pro, could you get the Mavic 3 Pro only and just link the RC Pro to it?

Do I understand that on the cine model the 7X zoom will have ProRes? That could help the 3 lenses to be more equal in (final) output quality, don't you think? If on the basic model the 7X zoom even doesn't have D-Log would mean that the cine model really is worth now. I was expecting the price being higher for the cine model. It is not cheap , but maybe it is the way to go...

Are the so-called 7x lens and sensor unchanged?
I don't see the "3x" lens being of much use to me, I'd always prefer the m43 camera (even if slightly digitally zoomed), and prefer 7x for playing around over the "3x".
BTW, "1x" is 50mm. The m43 lens (24mm - wide angle) is therefore about 1/2x "zoom".
The middle lens at 70mm is only slightly "zoomed in" (50mm is 1x).
The other lens I forget the length but the zoom is its length divided by 50...my recollection is it's around 3-4x.
