I have found AI very helpful when I don’t know where to start with a paper. I like to put in my prompt, tell it to include whatever ideas I have, and ask for an outline. Even if I don’t use the whole outline it helps me get started and stay focused on the topic. Second, I like to put my essay in and ask it to check spelling and punctuation. However, if I’m not specific in what I ask for then it changes too much of my essay, takes out my personal ideas, and makes me sound like a different person.
I don't use AI for grammar. I can google rules of grammar, and check my essay for any grammatical errors. However writing essay using AI comes out to be bad because AI doesn't represent the personality traits very well. I agree it's better to write essay on own.
Unfortunately nobody cant stop that, and that said, I think its more uppon to Universities to addapt themselves. I do also think its a grey area, using it to improve the grammar can be great.
I think it's ok to use AI for essay brainstorming but NOT for essay writing. I have had issues where I didn't even use AI for editing, and a checker said I used AI :( Not fun to deal with! So the more I stay away, the better for me personally.
Each organization has their own rules on AI use. Some organizations might have some flexibility in its use, while others may have stricter rules about it.
computer assisted help is more of a spectrum. Is AI cheating if you write the essay but have the AI improve your grammar? i think a super powered spell check should be allowed. not everybody has access to my mom. I think there is way more gray area using AI for ideas and outlines. then the clear overstep of the AI coming up with the paper whole cloth.
I went to say Thank you.continue it.I'm from Ethiopia.and very interest to Apply scholarship.now I will prepare Recommendation letter & an essay.I hope you help me.
I have put my original work through an "ai detector" and it said it was 80% likely that I used ai. I'm afraid of any ai detector that can't differentiate between good writing and ai!
Did you run it through just one or through a few different ones? We compared a few different ones a while back and one seemed to mark everything as 80%+ while the other one (while was through a more legitimate source) was more accurate.

Thank you for sharing how you use AI.

Yes - AI-generated essays are usually evident pretty quickly because they are so generic and lack personality.

Good point. It would be hard to prove you didn't use it.
Quick question, what if I wrote my essay and then used AI to edit it/make it sound more academic. Would that be allowed/something you would recommend?
