thanks a lot for this, i am making a shoes of my own in blender but i didnt know the basics for it but now everything has cleared up because of your video.
friend, thank you very much for this tutorial, it helped me to guide myself to make a sample for a client ... now I contract to make 20 models and if everything goes well I will do about 80 more ...
The tutorial is awesome, Just one thing , in the 26 th minute , Instead of scaling and pressing -1, If we press "s + x+ -1 " it mirrors in the x axis , sooo that we need not rotate the object afterwards .... Again... the video is very high quality and interesting....
I did try that, expecting the same results. But then I realized it isn't supposed to work like that. The scaling by -1 along all axes, basically mirrors the objects along the world origin. But if it is constrained to one axis (x) it will mirror along a plane (xz-plane) instead of a point - which will not work as intended at least for our purpose. I hope that I was able to explain my rationale behind the move haha. Anyway, thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you on future videos too :)
what new i learnt: 1. short cut of selection face edge and vertex - 1 2 3 2. adding crease - SHIFT+E 3. xray thingy - ALT + Z 4. ctrl+shift+z to hide controls n get clean view
This deserves so many more views! This has helped me so much and has inspired me to start making blender tutorials to! I already have done some on my channel!
Thanks a ton! This serves as motivation and inspiration for me in turn. I checked out your channel. Keep going. I also like the reaction video edits you did. Welcome to the channel :) -Sayan
Blue Inversion while I am not as good as you at blender, I would like to improve my modelling skills and do tutorials similar to this. Although, I have a long road ahead.
Do I have to worry about the ngons that emerge when using the knife tool? Thank you so much for this great tutorial, this really helped out a ton. I really enjoy your videos man.
No the ngons in this case actually end up becoming quads when the subdivision surface modifier is added. But this is a special case, so I should have taken care of it. My bad. There is a better way to do holes. You need to enable an addon called "LoopTools" in Edit > Preferences. Then you will have access to new editing options. Check description to understand what I mean. I had someone suggest me this and it is a much better solution. Let me know of you got it or I will explain further. Thanks for watching man. It is awesome to have you on board! -Sayan.
Thanks for this nice tutorial! I really liked it. By the way I did the laces with the drawing, with help of bezier curve. I found it that way more fun to work. Thanks again! 😊
Hey thanks a lot for checking out the tutorial series! I'm glad you liked it. I haven't tried using the draw tool for laces but sounds like it worked quite nicely. Keep going
Okay, so make sure you are in edit mode. From there you first need to switch to wireframe mode. You do that with 'z' --> pie menu pops up --> wireframe. Now you need to select both vertices using a selection area method (instead of point and click because that generally results in one vertex going unselected). So there are several area selection methods - box, circle, lasso, etc. Here I think circle is best. Press 'c' and that turns on the circle select mode (cursor changes). Now you can click and select vertices which are within this circle. It's additive which means subsequent selections keep adding up to the previous ones. Now you can press 'c' to turn off circle select mode. Then as usual you can press G and do all the following operations from there. Hope this helps you out. I have improved my tutorial style a lot after this video, from feedback similar to yours. Thank you :)
Very good tutorial 15:41 I would have been lazy here and select and edge loop (hold alt and left click on a loop in edge select mode) of the sole. Then just separate that one pressing P and chose Selection, go back to object mode make sure only the separated edge mesh is selected and on the top left on the viewport click "Object" then go down to "convert to" convert it to curve from mesh/text.
That would be another way. I tried that but the kind of topology our model has here, it took way more manual adjustments that way. I would say a matter of preference. Thanks for watching man!
You talked about how to move, cut objects, etc. But not a word about the topology at the stage of creating the lower part. The lesson is great, but I hung out there for a long time and had to redo the model.
Hmmm you are right, this was an older tutorial. Definitely skipped a few vital points there. I tried to focus a lot on topology in the car series. You can watch the 1st part if you are inclined enough. But contrary to popular belief, topology doesn't always matter unless your animation if going to "deform" the mesh. You can get away with a lot than you imagine, especially in games. Nevertheless, thanks for watching and the feedback. Appreciated :)
Okay! I will add that to my list. But you see I have a few others lined up already so I won't be making a promise. Thank you so much for watching :) -Sayan
Hey man, I am stuck on 5:20 , moving it along the z and shaping the dots like the sole. it either pushes everything down and just messes up the whole sole
This is so nice Mr Sayan. One thing with the holes for the laces maybe cylinder> bolean> egde split>Smooth Normals would be easier more accurate way? How long did it take you to become this good, cliche question I know :D
Thank you so much sir! Yes you are right, but I got so paranoid about the topology I ended up using this. In fact, an even better way using loop tools, was pointed out in the comments. I have included the method in the youtube description for this video. I have been doing 3d since 2013-ish.. but it has been a very unfocused experimental way of learning. I'm sure you can get to this level in a couple years or so if you are dedicated. Thanks again! Welcome to the channel :) -S
It doesn't work for multiple separate objects. You know, the way each object has different origins, things fall out of orientation. Especially notice the eyelets. Scaling by -1 is the solution I have found so far.
Thanks sir. I believe you can follow this series and make high heels model too. The workflow will be the same. Having a 3D leg / feet will make it easier to maintain the shape. Let me know if you have any further queries. -Sayan
I do talk about it later in the series. The thing is since these are multiple separate objects, they fall out of orientation when you try to use mirroring. Instead scaling by -1 keeps the relative positions intact.
