This is one CD player that I have been looking at. I want to replace my 25 year old Denon Multi -Disk player that's starting to act up. Apparently, this has a good DAC in it, plus you can use it as a CD transport as well if you have your own DAC. Anyone have one of these you can give me a little review on?
Actually I sold this; and the poor DAC is why. Everything is very good with the CD-C600, but the DAC is the weakpoint. Also the USB only plays .mp3 and does not play .flac files. I prefer connecting cd players with the analog outputs, and found the CD-C600 to have a very dull DAC that cuts off a lot of the higher detail and frequencies. Otherwise it is a great cd player and is very good connected digitally with an external DAC or receiver. I have several vintage Yamaha, Sony and Nakamichi cd players and they all sound better (DAC) than this. But if you like cds and cd players, my recommendation is Rotel - you won't be disappointed with used or new, they are absolutely fantastic. I have an RCD 1520. You can get the newer 1570 for a reasonable price used now.
I have the CD-C600 with some pretty nice gear and it sounds ok to my ears. I hooked it up directly to my Bryston BP-20 preamp with the phono jacks and while it isn't the equal to the Bryston DAC or my Rega 1000 planet 2000 what can you expect? The main thing is it seems ok as a changer and is pretty well laid out and quiet. I got mine for 329 from parts express so stoked on the price.
@@JohnDoe-np3zk I enjoy listening to the different sound characteristics of different cd player DACs, and the CD-C600 was simply the weakest of the 5 or so that I have, so the good features weren't enough for me to keep it. I have a 20 year old Sony DVD player that I got for free that has a markedly better DAC than the Yamaha.
