    Wow! Great taste in decks . I never thought I’d see anyone else with a Garbarino! I think it may be the only 20th century-designed Etteilla. There’s very little info on the Etteilla system in English, most of it is in (not surprisingly) in French. That should change next year (?) or whenever Benebell Wen finishes her Etteilla and provides a big doorstop of a book for it that I hope will help all us English speakers who are attracted to the Etteilla system. Cheers!

    Balbi Tarot is amazing! I love how rich its color is. I had a similar reaction to Tabula Mundi. It is an easy read for me as well. Its back is my favorite of all of my decks.
    I really enjoyed seeing such a wide-ranging collection. Thank you for sharing!

    lol My largest deck is the The Lovers' Tarot by Jane Lyle. I wanted to learn Tarot learning the Majors only back in the late 80s. I ordered it online thinking all Tarot decks were the same size 😂 I keep that in storage not wanting to let it go since it's my first. My second deck was the 1986 Barbara Walkers Tarot. Being that I was still a newbie and a teenager back in those days, certain cards scared me so I really don't think I used it much. Don't know what I did with that. What you shared brought me back to the past when I knew nothing lol

    Balbi Tarot is so gorgeous! I agree with you it's a bit difficult as it has its peculiar system for the pips (the one by Eudes Picard), but it also serves for other decks as the Gran Tarot Esoterico (Fournier) and a few others.
    OMG! A White Box A Thoth Deck! WOW! 😍
    Many thanks for participating and doing this fantastic VR. Loved it!

      Yes, agreed, but the Balbi doesn't always follow the Edues Picard, it veers off somewhat. There is a small paper in the box that has some direction. It perhaps was not the best deck to try and learn to read on. It was exciting to try though. Great tag you created by the way!!

      I am wishing a Tarot Belline for you now. I went and looked to see if I could find that old link to French amazon but I don't have that account any more. If I find it, I will send it. I looked around and everything is crazy priced right now, unfortunately. I hate that there are so many people buying tarot to make money on it nowadays. It seems to be so much worse sense the pandemic. If I run across one anywhere for a good price, I will dm you. I am assuming you want the old version?

    Oooh, what a lively visual delight that Tarot Balbi is and how special your first tarot deck belonged to your mom!
    The glittery Carol Herzer Tarot is very pretty indeed and I of course especially loved seeing the Marseille card backs you featured! 😍
    Absolutely! Marco’s Mitelli shuffle-ability is utmost delightful! ✨💛✨
    Such a fun video to learn more about your most special decks and your tarot journey. How so very amazing to have been taught Thoth for such an extended period of time! 🤩
    Thank you so much for the kind mention too! 🙏❤️

      Hi Mascha, I always love your deck choices too. The glittery Carol Herzer decks are so special, I always am in love with them. I wish I could find some of the old ones, but they are rare and hard to find. Marco's Mitelli is so fun to have, I am so thrilled to have it. I was with a group of women who would only use Thoth, it was the only deck for them. It is kind of funny how extreme it was. I had a good friend back then always telling me I should learn RWS too, and she would have taught me, but I always said no because I liked the look of the Thoth so much more. Now I regret that, and that friend somehow disappeared from my life one day. Thank you for watching my video.

      @musingsbymascha 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@tarotgeek8494 I think learning tarot with one deck for a longer period of time is the way to go. And it’s wonderful that you focused on Thoth for that long. These days with such a huge array of tarot decks available (which feels like a new deck being released and marketed daily), for many it’s not easy to focus on one and one tarot only. I’m guilty of that too. I feel blessed to have such a pull towards TdM, which has been my preferred tarot lineage for a while now. 😊

      @@musingsbymascha You are very blessed to have had that time with TDM. I feel like it is so much harder to study one thing now. There are so many distractions, in ways that I couldn't even have imagined 15 years ago. It is hard to feel like part of the community without watching videos and if you do, there are a million new decks to see all the time. Much harder to focus on one thing. I stopped watching most TH-cam for a bit, just to give myself some space to think for a while. I don't want to be too out of touch for too long though.

    Excellet VR! I always wondered what the Tarot Balbi looks like. The cards are very pretty but I did not realize it was a different system. The Efflorescent Tarot is so cool, I have that one in my collection. Love all of your cards! This was just so much fun to watch. Thank you!!❤

    • @tarotgeek8494

      Thanks Zoey. The Tarot Balbi is based on the Eudes Picard system but it also uses the Spanish Qabalah system. Sometimes it veers away and does its own thing. I have an additional book for it, but it is just a complicated deck, but beautiful. I adore the Efflorescent, the faces are the best!! Thanks for watching.

    Gorgeous decks!! Thank you for sharing! I'm thinking of getting a Carol Herzer deck, I know she hand cuts every card, are they easy to shuffle as I imagine the cards will be very slightly different sizes x

    • @tarotgeek8494
      @tarotgeek8494  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes they do. They shuffle great, but some of the decks are large so it depends on the size of your hands. You can always get a size that is smaller. The non glitter versions are amazing too.

    Have I been pronuncing Thoth wrong this whole time!!! 😮

    • @tarotgeek8494
      @tarotgeek8494  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Any way you say it is fine. They think it might have been pronounced like oath with a T but they aren't sure if it is was instead pronounced tote like a tote bag. I think there is not clarity on how the Egyptians pronounced the name, but I have always heard it with a long O sound like in Oath. I learned it the first way from more experienced people than I was, and that is how my family said it. I honestly think any way you want to say it is totally fine. Sometimes I just call it Thoth like moth and pronounce the th at the beginning, because so many people on TH-cam say it that way. I think it looks like it would sound that way.

    I wish I had gotten instruction from a person when I started with Thoth. My early Tarot learning was so frustrating. I am going back to the beginning and doing some hard reading to enhance my first love, Thoth. My friend sent me Mirror of the Soul for my birthday. The Tarot of the Spirit is definitely my choice for esoteric as well. I am also thinking of doing some research into the Masonic. I feel like there's more to the Maconnique than meets the eye, you know? Your minis are to DIE for! I didn't know Lydia had a tinty Itty bitty - cuteness aggression! 😵‍💫

      Glad you are going back to do some deep reading, sorry your early journey was so difficult. I am amazed you stuck with it, impressive. Tarot of the spirit's gentle esoteric voice is amazing. I need to spend some more time with just that deck this year. Love the videos. Let me know what you find out about the Maconnique, another one of the decks that is a bit of a mystery. Om my gosh, I love minis!! I collect them, the Lydia one I only saw once, but she has done one just a little bigger a few times. Haven't heard much from her lately, hope she is doing ok.
