I've always said that usually singers just sing the song, not Angelina. This young woman lives it, heart & soul, whether it's a cover or an original, the emotion just weave out & grabs you. Sadly I found myself addicted, as two years later she put a spell on me, and now I must have my daily fix of AJ. She brightens up my day. I'm 72, an ancient hippie stuck indoors because of this damned virus, I have COPD, so to have Angelina singing in my living room really helps me through the day.
An unbelievable song written and performed by an extraordinary young woman. The more I listen to it the more captivating the lyrics become. My take on the meaning of “forgive me for all that I am” is that Angelina knows that she has an inherent talent that is being revealed to a world that is embracing her and begging for more. It is not so much that she is chasing a career as it is having the career come to her. She realizes that whatever “normalcy “ her family will try and maintain will become impossible as the world asks more and more from her. She also realizes the many dangers lurking in an industry known to devour talent. She will need the “fire” and support of her family to help her along the journey and keep her grounded and safe along the way. A remarkable testament to her understanding and maturity at such a young age. I have no doubt her journey will lead her to joining the pantheon of vocal greats alongside Holliday, Sinatra, Elvis, Garland, Franklin, Jackson, Houston and Freddie Mercury. Her journey has only just begun.
I have to start by saying that Angelina is my favorite singer-so maybe my reaction is influenced by that. But, I think she’s written a song here that shows the deep soul that she can channel like no one else, and it combines it with a modern rhythm and instrumentation. I almost never like a song the first time I hear it, but the chorus on this is haunting. It’s immediately catchy without being simple. I still am amazed at how Angelina can tackle so many different styles with complete ease and confidence-and just kill them. On her covers, I realize that I’m listening to and understanding the lyrics for songs that were just background music to me before. And especially with a song like this that she’s written herself, as well as all her other songs, you feel her living the lyrics. Combine that with a voice that still startles me when she begins-I’m really hooked.

Angelina has quite a few more originals, but the corona virus delayed her new album release. She was visiting New York a lot in the Winter probably recording for the new album. The album is supposed to be with jazz songs. Only time will tell. I hope the vaccine will come this year so we can see her resume her career soon after. She has so much great music to show to us. She said that in an interview in Norwegian just before the virus lock down.

Then consider that at five she told her Mother that she wanted to be a superstar. The line “forgive me for all that I am” she is asking for forgiveness as she had realized all of the stress she had put on her family and particular her Mother. What twelve year old thinks these thoughts and then writes and arranges a song. I know she had help with the music. She also shows that she is aware of the pitfalls the industry presents. It is my opinion that her arrangement and singing of “Beyond the Yellow Brick Road” was deliberate and intended. She is not a present to be opened and a penthouse has no allure for her. I am going back to my beginnings. Quite a thought process fo a thirteen year old. There is far more to Angelina than a pretty face.

Many people give Angelina too much credit for this song forgetting to mention the co-writers, but I think you give her too little saying that she _gave them her wishes_ and implying that she only wrote the lyrics. I think the truth lies somewhere in between. I'm quite confident that Angelina is responsible also for the melody and probably also the main harmonic progression in the tune, but that she had help finalising the orchestration and adding all the electronic sound effects. But of course she had the final saying regarding all components of the song

I'd just like to add an acknowledgement to pa1189j who helped me equalize the the audio level in the many clips and also did some distortion & noice reduction on some tracks. pa1189j is also the original source for some clips I used. Regarding _Sheild_ I just wanted say that I think Angelina had her hands on the steering wheel throughout the whole process of writing, composing and mixing, but probably had some help with the technical details, and that she of course listened to suggestions and incorporated the things she found fitting for the sound she was looking for.

Not just that, but " ... *all* that I am". I have a feeling it's an apology for all the times she been a bit troublesome (as all kids are, more or less), and the song is to me a declaration of never ending love and gratitude towards her mother, who's always there for her, in sunshine and in rain, this becomes clear by the lyrics in the bridge

I believe she is the youngest ever published author in Norway, and the book details the giving away of the shoes, at the age of six, and the promise to perform barefoot until all children have shoes. From what I hear she has also given away a good deal of the proceeds from her talent show competitions to charity. as much as she has done she would do a lot more if her family weren't so adamant that she have a relatively normal childhood with a normal school experience. This girl has performed for Quincy Jones's 85th birthday celebration, at a Nobel Peace prize concert, and has had the Royal orchestra of Norway perform for her on her 13th birthday. She wrote this one herself. What I heard, and I don't know if it's true, is that she wrote this as sort of a tribute to her parents. Listen to the lyrics and it fits if that was her intern, but I as I said, I don't know that's true. No matter, she's great regardless of why she wrote it.

You are right that once you have heard a lot of her, the age thing is really irrelevant. Her voice is something so unique and so seasoned, you could have someone listen to it with no information about her age, and they are still going to hear how good she is. It's not that she's really good for her age, it's that she's just really good... and she happens to be young. Really the only part the age plays in her overall evaluation is that she is still growing and still progressing. She's already incredible... It's hard to imagine what she will be in 10 years.

I never heard about that band you mentioned, but you're right that it's a lovely mix of the old time jazz influence and modern rock, pop and electronic music. Regarding _Sheild_ I just wanted say that I think Angelina had her hands on the steering wheel throughout the whole process of writing, composing and mixing, but probably had some help with the technical details, and that she of course listened to suggestions and incorporated the things she found fitting for the sound she was looking for.

Song is for sure about her mother and probably family in general and those that keep her from harm. The line "forgive me for all that I am" is probably Angelina knowing that chasing her dream comes with some hardship for family.

I have a feeling it's an apology for all the times she been a bit troublesome (as all kids are, more or less), and the song is to me a declaration of never ending love and gratitude towards her mother, who's always there for her, in sunshine and in rain, this becomes clear by the lyrics in the bridge

An older dude is walking back and forth in front of the stage and finally steps up on it. Michael quickly intervenes, but Sara later appears to be reading the band leader the riot act in capital letters.. the shield.

I believe she is the youngest ever published author in Norway, and the book details the giving away of the shoes, at the age of six, and the promise to perform barefoot until all children have shoes. From what I hear she has also given away a good deal of the proceeds from her talent show competitions to charity. as much as she has done she would do a lot more if her family weren't so adamant that she have a relatively normal childhood with a normal school experience. Kudos to her family. I am obsessed. A 64 year old former dance school owner and teacher who is obsessed with a 14 year old singer. This girl has performed for Quincy Jones's 85th birthday celebration, at a Nobel Peace prize concert, and has had the Royal orchestra of Norway perform for her on her 13th birthday. I'm divorced, unemployed, and living with and caring for my 89 year-old mother, isolated during covid, and this girl is saving me from the depths of depression. Thank you for your reaction videos. This is a very nice reaction, for an exceptional song, for the choice of musical style with a beautiful fusion of pop and jazz, for the lyrics, however well balanced and to finish because it was made by a 12 year old girl. The topic of the texts is certainly not what every twelve year old thinks, but instead it is natural for her to understand that she is still very young, even if unique, and therefore needs a shield, between her and the world, which can easily ruin her or destroy it, just as happened to many talented young artists, including those he admires, such as Avicii, Amy, Whitney. This is why I believe that, after all, the texts refer to her mother and perhaps also to her grandmother, they are the ones who defend her, especially from the dangers of the entertainment industry. 👍

What I find hard to believe is that she has written 3 songs that are all amazing by the time she is 12 years old. I've seen many comments that this sounds so James Bondy. Hey if Adele and Madonna can do it Angelina will probably become the youngest to ever write a theme song for Bond. There are a couple more young lady's I think could sing a Bond song if not write one they are Daneliya Tuleshova from Kazakhstan, and a Welsh lass named Gracie-Jayne Fitzgerald they are both 13 and both have voices that are big, but can also carry a softer song well. Daneliya won The Voice Kids Ukraine at 10 years old. Her rendition of 'Stone Cold' fro her blind audition went viral and to date has over 55 million hits. She wrote this one herself. What I heard, and I don't know if it's true, is that she wrote this as sort of a tribute to her parents. Listen to the lyrics and it fits if that was her intern, but I as I said, I don't know that's true. No matter, she's great regardless of why she wrote it.

You are right that once you have heard a lot of her, the age thing is really irrelevant. Her voice is something so unique and so seasoned, you could have someone listen to it with no information about her age, and they are still going to hear how good she is. It's not that she's really good for her age, it's that she's just really good... and she happens to be young. Really the only part the age plays in her overall evaluation is that she is still growing and still progressing. She's already incredible... It's hard to imagine what she will be in 10 years.

I never heard about that band you mentioned, but you're right that it's a lovely mix of the old time jazz influence and modern rock, pop and electronic music.
