    Given that the steak and eggs breakfast at Ellis Island is 8.99, and the steak there is good, I can't justify paying 10x that amount for a tiny rib cap. I don't drink, so would lack the enjoyment James obviously gets from his. I did have a laugh after he showed the macho steak knife and followed up with the super-tender steak.

    Thank you so much for the review. I've considered eating here a few times, but it seemed they were still finding their way and Resorts World's restaurants have mostly failed to impress me. This place looks gorgeous. I'm going to try it when I have a chance. I LOVE the choose-your-knife schtick too. They had that at a place in Mexico I ate at a few years back and my partner and I both loved selecting the perfect blade to fit our mission and personality. If you get a chance to eat at RAKU on Spring Mountain, they do a similar schtick with letting you choose your sake glass.

    I ate at this place on Sunday, September 29. I had won $700 at the Poker table and decided to splurge a little. The previous day I ate at BREZZA next to Carversteak and it was OUTSTANDING. I had high hopes for the Carversteak house but was disappointed for the overall price. With tip I paid $180 for the ribeye ($88), Sautéed Spinach, Potato Gratin and a Beer. The Spinach, Potato Gratin and beer were outstanding. However, the Medium Rare Ribeye steak wasn't impressive at all. There was a lot more fat on the edge of the Ribeye than I normal get from the regular supermarket. I couldn't really chew the fat at all. The steak was juicy but not as flavorful as I expected. I think a medium steak may have been better to sear on the top and maybe could have added a bit more flavor. I love steak and try to cook one every week at home and maybe I'm jaded. However, I was a bit disappointed at the price.
    My only complaint about the servers is that I had to ask three time for ice water. The water they poured wasn't really cold and only after asking for a glass of ice for the third time did they bring something around. It was also a little confusing on who was waiting for me.
    If I hadn't won the money at the Poker room I would have been disappointed with this experience. However, since I was eating on house money, it was OK.

    It's interesting, because I've seen quite a few other Vegas VLOGers throw shade at Carversteak because of the lack of value to the food especially as far as portion sizes are concerned. So when I saw your take on it, it is a noteworthy aberration from most hot takes on it.
    Granted I'm a vegan so steakhouses generally aren't something I can personally really relate to unless they have vegan options, but at least as far as atmosphere and ambience is concerned it definitely looked awesome. Objectively Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres' has the far more imaginative and original menu from what I've seen in your reviews, but Carversteak just looks unique as a steakhouse much like ONE at the Virgin.
    Can't wait to see the detailed Kusa Nori review! 😊

  • @Bananafish606
    @Bananafish606 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video as usual. The rip cap is undoubtedly a favorite. But don’t let the steakhouse marketing get to you - there is not one rib cap steak per cow. The rib cap comes from quite a large muscle that runs the length of a number of ribs. A restaurant will get a large number of the steaks from the whole muscle

    • @Coolist
      @Coolist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      As the son of a butcher, I can assure you there is only one small 12" (1.5-2lb) ribeye cap per cow. Yes, indeed, that footlong potion is usually split to 3-4 cuts and sold separately as 8oz pieces (usually).
      ,
      But the very small and solo 12" portion per cow isn't what makes the ribcap cut so rare, impossible to find, and sought after. VERY rarely is the rib cap cut ever butchered and taken from a cow, because doing so ruins the entire prime rib/ribeye set to cut it away!!!
      That's why you never see it and it's so expensive, as selling the rib cap with a big premium has to offset the wasted cuts of meat that were sacrificed in order to produce the rib cap.

The restaurant is smaller than I was expecting, it is a bit of a weird dining room, didn't like looking at the entrance to the kitchen so the wife and I ending up eating at the bar. It was great!! Started off with the crab cake, yellowtail sashimi, which was incredible and then the rib cap that you recommended. That was an incredible piece of meat, one of the best pieces either of us has had in the past couple of years. I highly recommend anyone coming here to try it. The sommelier was decent and all the staff were excellent, would come back here again. Thanks again for the rib cap recommendation!
