  • Taken on a trip to York for another reason this unused video is now shown for the first time Mary Queen of Scots is still active on the man line but not for much longer. There was a problem with the brakes releasing which looks to of been something that could be solved from the engine room so the engine was shut down while that was done. I was lucky to get her being started up twice. Not sure why but the first attempt the engine died then with all looking good they headed off to Derby.

      Yes we only have one type left working on the main line that has a single cab. They were not popular here and drivers insisted they ran in pairs nose to nose. Also it was started up from in the cab as you see

    Nice video. Sadly the hours are getting high now for 401. Hopefully she gets preserved. DRS are not going to spend more money on it. Also i hope Caroline is eventually preserved she was a buffet car for a 203 at first. Fun fact she was the first Carriage that entered the channel tunnel i believe. It would be nice in preservation if she was put back to original inspection saloon specifications all be it minus the modern lights.

      Thank you axl Yes we thought the 37 would not be around by this year but this really does look like the last year we will see them on Rail Head Treatment duties. I hope 401 is saved and not just dumped out of running hours. This and other large logo always remind me of hols in Scotland and my favourite livery for them. Caroline will surely be preserved with such a history being also Lady Diana Spencers saloon in the Royal Train. I saw a lovely model of it at a model show this weekend.

      @@axldelticwalton1238 It is a ready made model and at around £150 too much to justify buying for me. You could get a loco for that not long ago. I got a 156 unit for £250 at the show making each car which is motorised less than Caroline. It is still going to cost me a bit more as I need to buy a chip for each car around £25 each.

      @@cedarcam £150 is way too MUCH I would say £90 isn't bad but that's with outstanding detail and the right weight and going on today's pricess which shrug .y shoulders at

      @@axldelticwalton1238 Prices have gone nuts on most rolling stock now. I will buy very little in future because I have plenty of stock already and upgrading to new stock like the new 37 with working fan and lights in the drivers desk are just costly gimmicks Even on my video of D213 leaving York you cannot see the fan going round from Holgate bridge. I will buy more kits than railway models in future but they have also gone up dramatically and the cost of a tin of Humbrol is nuts now £2.70

    nice, shame Caroline and Hastings will never be part of a Hastings DEMU again, but thats how it goes,

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is yes as no full DEMU's were preserved. Caroline does have a lot of admirers so I am sure will be saved from being scrapped so at least not be a total loss like most of the other thumper stock. I only got to ride on two thumpers as far as I remember.
