Watts actually did start to turn Scott heel in 1992. He beat up on Bagwell after a match and then won the TV title from Steamboat , but then the Steiners were suddenly gone from WCW because of the problems with Watts and showed up in the WWF near the end of the year. The TV title was dormant for several months until they had a tournament in the spring of 93.
@@TheLaughinginthedark. He supposedly terrorized his wrestlers in Mid South, cussing them out, punching and kicking them, constantly fining them. He had the reputation of a tyrant and a bully from back then.
The smartest move Vince made was making sure Crockett got that Ted Turner tv deal and not Watts. I think Watts was the only promoter Vince knew could be a problem.
Yep... Bill was very tactical & smart about the business. He's the only promoter who pushed a blk man Sticking to Vince until JYD crossed Bill and went to the WWE then Vince killed JYD'S career
What Bill fails to mention is how him cutting the salaries of the performers is what triggered Scott's disdain for him. It is what led Scott to leave WCW for the then WWF which Kevin Nash would later reference in a worked shoot promo in the NWO.
I remember clear as day when Steiner went off script on Nitro to call out Ric Flair for no reason when it wasn’t even a part of his program. Before that his look and attitude had my attention. This was the first time realizing he wasn’t actually good at cutting promos OR Wrestling for that matter. Then WWE gave him the chance to be a main event draw, but he was never going to go outside of his box and kept doing these nonsensical rambling promos on his opponent with the same 4 or 5 catchphrases throw in. Rick was always the better wrestler.
Scott has some of the best promos and best heat during his renaissance. What the hell are you talking about? in WWE, he feuded with HHH and he had ‘drop foot’. The fact he was still able to get in the ring with this injury is amazing. It’s also been speculated that HHH sabotaged his matches to make Scott look bad. Rewatching these matches, I believe that to be true imo.
@@theredwrigglerI have long believed that if Scott had been on Smackdown in his WWE return, his run would have been much better. He and Brock given the nature of the B10 rivalry of Michigan vs Minnesota could have been a great post WM 19 program.
I love Dog Face Gremlin, but come on, Scott was revolutionary inside the ring. He did things that nobody did before or since. He was a freak athlete. Your dislike for him is coloring your opinion.

watts talking about Steiner intimidating people. the irony. watts didn't like Steiner because he was one of the few guys watts couldn't bully
Irony of Bill Watts calling someone a bully.
When you come across someone who “keeps it realer.”

Not good at promos? The dude is legendary. Watch Steiner Math, it’s hilarious. Agree he was out of control though.
and yet Scott is more beloved and recognised than his brother. the fans loved him
