I do have the 108 from 2016. The only thing who ever went wrong was the wheel hub after driving over a massive pothole. The mechanic did not notice that the hub was bent and chewed 3 bearings in 3 months. I drive around 400miles per week. Change oil every 5k and so far nothing wrong with it. 67k on the clock so far. I’m very impressed with your soundproofing endeavor. Maybe maybe next month I could try. Best to your channel!
I bought my MK2 Facelift Aygo brand new! I only had once a problem with the tire pressure warming light because one of my tires looses some air. Lucky my dealership solved it! Never had it again😃
I have my Aygo mk2 for almost 3 years and done around 50000km with it. Engine, Gearbox and Clutch are all still perfect. The only faulty things i had were the Radio/Touchscreenunit (got replaced under warranty) and the USB charger (got replaced under warranty). I have the wet Tailgate issue but i get some silicone and try to fix it. I just love my little Aygo. I had it on several very long roadtrips (1000-1600km) and never dissapointed me. Soundproofing helped a lot :)
It's such a bullet proof little car, isn't it. I just had my first MOT and it sailed through. Only advisory was two of the tyres were on 3 mil of tread, but I'll replace those fairly soon anyway, so it's a none issue.
I had TÜV (german MOT) last year and had 0 issues. They havent even said anything about the soundproofing-mats I installed in the wheelarches. Next TÜV is in 2026 and im not worried about it, since i have warranty until 2028 (if i do my yearly maintenance at the Toyota dealer). @@jamieaygo
quick update.....after going mad with the clear silicon and after heavy rain overnight no leaks are visable. I'm thinking of spraying clear lacquer over the 3rd brake light just to be sure. I've also drilled a small drain hole under the 3rd light inspection cover and cut groves in the foam gasket...so far so good
@@jamieaygo I guess it depends how well you know a mechanic too my friends a mechanic and it cost me £150 to buy a LUK branded clutch for a 2008 Yaris and he charged me £120 labour to fit it. 3 hours worth of work at £40 an hour.
From another TH-cam video, the clutch is unusual as it’s not self adjusting. It has to be adjusted with each annual service by winding the large plastic nut on the clutch cable. The clutch pedal should be about level with the brake pedal when correctly adjusted. I think the clutch pedal level rises above the brake pedal level as it wears? Not 100% sure about this.
i think the clutch pedal should be above the break pedal, but the freeplay should be about the distance from the pre adjusted stopper to the height of the break pedal. garagewire.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/INF140-Toyota-Aygo-Clutch-ADT330246-UK1.pdf?subject=Blue%20Print%20tech%20bulletin%20to%20fix%20Toyota%20Aygo%20clutch%20failures%20via%20Garage%20Wire
I've just bought a Toyota Aygo X in part exchange for my old Mazda 2. It's a nice car to drive, the engine is louder than I'm used to though. I'm sure that I'll get used to it in time 🤞
Nice one, Ashley. The engine on these cars are known to have a bit of character, but the are fiercely reliable. An easy way to quieten it would be to pick up an engine cover if you don't fancy doing too much DIY. If you do fancy doing a bit of DIY, I have an hour long video on the channel showing you how to soundproof your car, which does work wonders.
My MK2 keeps getting a wet boot. Again like the MK1 I think it's getting in around the high level brake light. I've put a little silicone around the edges to see if that helps🤞🏼
My 2008 Aygo Platinum was fine for 18 months but then the clutch went. Repaired that then 6 months later the alternator and drive belt. Git tgat repaired then another problem came up. I have decided I will probably just get a new car instead of throwing more money into a seemingly bottomless pit.
Sorry to hear you are pumping money into yours. It reminds me of my old Audi that ate £1,500 a year with all the fixes I had to do to it. Sometimes you have to cut your losses and upgrade.
All what you mentioned here are some of the known problems, the 2016 and above model is a bit better, but it still have water leak in the boot, from the brake lights, prematurely clutch waering problem. The clutch has to do with how you drive, and vibration problems on a hill when taking off.
I managed to snap my wing mirror the other day when i was folding it in. Not sure what happened, think it must've been the hot temperatures made the plastic brittle.
I was going to update my K11 Nissan Micra which I've for 23 years ... but don't know which car would last this long with Original parts, and never broken down ..
still have it - only bought it 5 months ago. I just spent 3 hours taking the boot/lining/rear lights/3rd brake lamp etc apart and went mad with the clear silicone sealer...time will tell if it works.....still think the Yaris is the better car 😩
Yeah, you wouldn't expect this kind of degradation on something that has only got 64k on the clock. I've got about 55k on mine and I'm hoping it's not going to follow suit! Let me know if the silicone sealer ends up doing the job or not👍
They solved the clutch wear issue with the mk1 Facelift. My Aygo has 100000 miles (160000km) and it has the original clutch🤞
Nice!

Thank you!! I am due a service soon and I am thinking that I might just do it myself.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
i had the clutch replaced in mine last year and cost me £650 local garage , but the Toyota garage wanted £1030
Ah, compared that's a decent saving there. In my head I thought it would have been cheaper. I kind of hope my clutch has some more life in it now, ha!

Did it sort it for you? I haven't noticed it with mine yet, but will certainly keep an eye out.
I had this issue. Removing the high level brake light and adding silicone has resolved it for me.
my mk2 has the same 3rd brake light leak but not sure how this is getting into the boot as it's a sealed unit....Toyota should know better

Thanks for adding to this. I've been lucky so far with these issues but will definitely keep you kind folks updated if anything goes wrong.
I managed to snap my wing mirror the other day when i was folding it in. Not sure what happened, think it must've been the hot temperatures made the plastic brittle.
Oh, no! That is definitely something I will look out for. Did you end up getting it fixed?
I was going to update my K11 Nissan Micra which I've for 23 years ... but don't know which car would last this long with Original parts, and never broken down ..
That's a solid car is the K11. Well respected for it's reliability. I've had no issues with my Aygo, but sadly can't offer you 23 years to compare!
K11 (manual) is outstanding. There is no possible way an Aygo will last as long with all the corners they have cut
fell out of love with my mk2. Should have bought the Yaris 1.0. Toyota seem to have cut so many corners. There shouldn't be this much water leakage
Ah, that's a shame to hear, Matt. Do you still have your MK2 or did you get rid?
still have it - only bought it 5 months ago. I just spent 3 hours taking the boot/lining/rear lights/3rd brake lamp etc apart and went mad with the clear silicone sealer...time will tell if it works.....still think the Yaris is the better car 😩
Crazy that it perished like that.I'll keep an eye out on mine, so thanks for the heads up! Has it got a few miles on the clock?
64k on the clock. I had a 2002 1.3 Yaris MK1 with 100k and no problems they build them better back then....now a lot are made in France 🤮

Ive had my 65 plate aygo for 3 years with no trouble what so ever
Nice one! I'm hoping to replicate that.
