    I’m glad you are posting vids again Man. Hope your holiday was cool. Two clutches in 21k miles, did I hear that right?!? My wife’s truck had 200k and the clutch was still fine! What gives?

      It's how its driven. Drive it properly and the clutch will easily do over 100,000 miles

      @@pistonbroke I was thinking that exact thing. I have a 2012 Toyota aygo with 105,000 miles and still have the original clutch. I was thinking it's maybe time to change it as there doesn't really seem to be much of a biting point anymore and I'm convinced it's pretty close to slipping with the clutch engaged.
      I don't think it helps that I've recently been driving a brand new car as a courtesy car (it was literally less then 1 month old). I'm convinced that car had an electronic clutch though 😅 (it didn't disengage when the engine was off but still felt exactly the same to press, I only found out when I tried to roll it down the drive, I ended up having to force it out of gear as the clutch wasn't operating and the car had rolled and put pressure on the gear making it hard to shift to neutral). It was the 1L Hyundai i20 mhev (6 speed manual).

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I never use one, never have. I've always done it by eye. In over 30 years of doing this I've never failed to get a gearbox back in due to a missaligned clutch.

    Cracking video, top bloke. Only part I didn't quite get was what you were using the hammer for round the top of the bellhousing after the clutch was installed... tapping the starter into place?

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was tapping the gear cable retaining clips into place. Took me ages to find out what you meant because I didn't tap anything after fitting the clutch, it was after I fitted the gearbox.

    My Toyota Aygo MMT had got new clutch a month ago . It drives fine now, but start ti make squeking and whistling noise when accilarating. High pitch noise, could be heard from out side. The noise only comes when car is engaged in gear and running. Not in neutral. What could be the reason pls.?

    Was it me are are the gearboxes heavy in them? We have an Aygo and it need two clutches in 40k, fitted the Blue Print one now like the owners club recommend and no problem 30k later. The clutches from the cars leaving the factory are utter crap and its a common problem in all the city bugs

    Thanks for the video. I bit the bullet and did the clutch replacement myself. It's all back together but it won't fire up. Starter's spinning but nothing happening. Any advice what it might be? Cheers.

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Without having the car in front of me it's difficult to say but if the starter spins but the engine doesn't, then the first place I'd look is the starter motor. Is it in properly?

    • @darrenrmoss
      @darrenrmoss 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is turning the engine and it seems to nearly cough sometimes. Someone suggested checking the earth and other wiring that was removed. It's almost like an immobiliser's kicked in - have they got one?

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right ok. I take the crank sensor out to avoid damage when removing and refitting the gearbox, did you take it out? If not then I'd suggest you do and have a look at it.

    • @darrenrmoss
      @darrenrmoss 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After several conversations reassuring me that I wasn't breaking anything and rechecking all the connections, I just turned the starter over for ages and it eventually reluctantly started up! Now it's running fine. So, no panic after all. Thanks for your time.

      The first gen c1, 107 and Aygo from 2006 were the ones with the weak clutches that the clutch cover straps were breaking and failing on, as the clutch plate was not large enough to cope. So they upgraded the clutches to a larger diameter friction plate from about 2009 onwards, using the same clutch kit that was used in the Yaris. I have a 2007 C1, and managed to get mine to last till about 60,000 miles before the clutch cover straps had broken, and on getting a new blueprint clutch kit to fit, found out that the kits have been upgraded to cope with having a larger diameter friction plate same as used in the 1.0 Yaris.
