Anonymous Vlogger I see the video quality is nice but I'm more looking at photo quality is this worth it as a significant upgrade over say a galaxy s7?

Thanks for the great video. It has helped me decide to purchase the G7X for my upcoming Asia trip. I am a novice. With my older camera, I always held it and many times after a short pan would move so the camera was not in one place. Is it likely then I'll need a tripod? If so, in what situations? I'm sure if was placing it on a table top and shooting the scene as it passed by yes, but I really haven't had that type of opportunity in Asia before.
We started using the G7X Mark II for our videos as well. It is so much better for vlogging (portability, ease of use (no lenses to switch out if I want a shallower depth of field), and for low light conditions than what we were previously using; the Canon 80D.
I kept rubbing my phone screen trying to clean off the scuffs on the wall behind you.... Anyway Cool video.. I'm researching the Mark II. Sounds good. Great video.
Hey Martin, Just wanted to stop by and say thanks! About 6 months ago because of your review I ended up buying my own g7x mark ii. It was the best camera I have ever owned and I took some amazing photos when I traveled to the Philippines. Unfortunately, I didn't take very good care of it and as you mentioned I got the lens error. I had to return it and luckily got a full money back. I am defiantly going to buy the gx7 again for my next trip and man am I glad I saw this video so that I can go out and buy the right accessories. Thank you for your guidance.
Great video. I have one and recently took it up mount teide on tenerife along with my EOS60D. I gave the G7X2 to my friend and i set it up for him, manual white balance and about a stop of + EX comp. that was about all and it coped well with the situation, mainly being tons of light but high sun. My SLR I did find took longer to set up and get the pics I wanted, the G7X did cope very well and the pics came out great and with rich colours with good saturation and exposure, my friend obviously didnt know how to use a camera so the aperture was generally fixed, but between the two the G7X did really well, for what is a difficult filming place, many people take thousands of photos up there but I suspect many would be later disappointed with under exposed faces etc, because of so much light.

Have the same camera and mini tripod. Did not think about the pocket trick. However... what do I do with my pocket watch if I use that for the camera. :) Agree with the touch screen being a pro and con. They need an option (physical button) to disable the touch. Really good review as I've notice that exact same things. I had mine on the beach when the wind picked up to 25mph. Blew sand in the lens mechanics. Had to send it in and they replaced it for $200. Reasonable but I think it's a poor design over-all.
You can use an external mic: personally I would recommend the zoom h1n... I use it all the time and it's a very cheap option. I like it. Otherwise love ur vids man... Continue like that.

Thanks Martin for the 6 months review. And I just bought this bad boy for 2 weeks as I will go to Osaka with my wife late this month to have some Trip Vlog. However, I found the major draw back is the tracking focus (hope I used the right terms) which make some noticeable noise from the G7x. But if I don't use this tracking feature like M mode to shoot video. No noise was found. Draw back is it can't really focus fast. Anyway, I hope I can share my thoughts here with all your subscribers. Cheers!

Melissa Torres I search myself for other kinds of photography, but with that money you can find for sure plenty of options. It seems that video blogging cameras is what is selling nowadays more.

When you're blogging around a lot of noise in public it's a way you can do to have good audio cause when I get my camera I'm going to get me a microphone when I'm out in public with too much noise!!!!

the furry thing is a wind breaker, so you wont catch those wind noise when you re recording

Great tips. If you don't need the flip screen the G9X is virtually the same camera without the flip but way cheaper and more compact.
scanspeak00 There are actually many differences, you are sacrificing some better features and quality for smaller camera and less price

+Larissa Zellmer I just made it out of fake fur and glued it on. The sound it good unless you are in a very noise environment. I really like it!!
