@@KelliGrayoffroad Thanks Kelli! Sounds like you’ve been out there enough to know how bad it can get!!! So glad you came by our vids! If you see a white Jeep and a guy with camera on the trail, please come say hi!!
Grew up literally below Graveyard Point. It gets wet fast but seems to dry fairly quickly too. Hit and miss. Spent tons of time running all those roads and been caught by them too 😉 Sans Basin has always been a favorite.
My first and only Owyhee trip to date was two years ago in mid September. Solo. I drove 10 hours to get to Rome OR. Then east on 95 to the turnoff for the Three Forks Recreation Area. It was a sunny afternoon but you could see it had just rained. Hard. Maybe its Dumb to go solo... But there was one fresh set of tire tracks in the dirt going in. So I followed. I have a really stought first gen Tundra. Access Cab. I made it all the way in to the Three Forks area. The fresh tire tracks went through the ford and up the west bank. Spent three days in there solo. Saw a huge badger. When I left it was starting to rain again. Never saw a single vehicle/person in the three days I was there.
What a cool story, thanks for sharing. We have three vids as can think of that cover 3 Forks th-cam.com/video/psTSRlprvQI/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/zoDgCd7QNmM/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/Ki0CftIjAAE/w-d-xo.html

@@Venture2Roam you are creating killer content bro. If you keep it up, this channel will be huge. Let me know if I can help or if you want to hit some trails 👊
Owyhee's are a great place to explore. You are lucky only 80 miles away for you. For us in Central Oregon it is a good 300 plus miles away. At least we do not live in the Portland area. That would be a lot further. We have made three tips there in the past and tend to set up basecamps in safe locations then take 4wds out to explore. Love the geology, wildlife and general remoteness of the area. Normally we travel on off or shoulder seasons avoiding the crowds of the summer weekends. I am thinking about our next trip approaching from the west. It appears to be much more remote. Geocaching is one of the activities we enjoy when exploring remove locations. The often take you to places you would never go.
I think your basecamp approach is really smart out there. I've been out there a ton...and still feel like I just barely scratched the surface, it's so massive and has so many surprises. The west side is less traveled for sure, the roads are more severe, and there is a LOT of room to find yourself completely alone. Cheers!
Thank you! I agree...this part of the country is just so amazing...part of me hesitates to share it...but I'm inspired to try and create the essence of the trip and find the beauty in the land...it's just too good not to share!
Great video! Loved the views, and your little group too. Thanks for sharing the history of the area as well. You definately made me a bit envious of this trip. Thanks for bringing us along!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. We just got lucky with the weather on this trip. That area is always beautiful..but it really showed off on that trip lol.
The ground looked like Porus, volcanic soil. No standing water. But when you drove through it, it was semi liquid. Sitting on top of a serious hard pack. First rains of the year and the clay was still baked solid. The luck of The Lucky!!! My battery died a week after I got home.
Hahahaha...I don't know...that shot of the fog on the trees at the beginning of your last SCAR vid was epic. But ya - we are blessed to live around so much public land, and have access to so many different terrain types.
Seems like an absolutely great group of friends and family to go Overlanding with, and getting out to enjoy the peacefulness of nature in such a beautiful area. Awesome video buddy.

Hey Martin thanks for watching and for the great comment! What a great trip that was…can’t wait to get back out that direction this Spring when it’s green. We so appreciate you following our adventures!!!
Just went out there yesterday. Got absolutely poured on as soon as we got to the Gulch campsite. It was quite the experience with a ground tent and no awning to cook under. But it absolutely made for some great memories. This morning was sunny and beautiful taking a walk down into the gulch. So glad I saw this video. I had driven past the trail heading down to that site a few times but never took the time to take a look. We almost missed out on a beautiful little site. Thanks!!
How were the roads after the rain? I bet it’s green and gorgeous out there right now! Glad you got to experience it…it’s truly a gem of a place. Thanks for taking the time to share!!
@@Venture2Roam The roads were slick as snot. We took the long way in on Saturday and the shortest way possible back out to avoid getting stuck. I’ve got some extremely mild A/T tires on right now and the road kind of just took us where it wanted us to go. It’s beautiful out there right now though. Well worth braving the mud to see!

Terrain looks tame but scenery is a ten for sure. Thanks for sharing. As those that have done this for a while know, a big rain back there would make the terrain change rapidly, glad you guys had favorable weather.👍
So glad you liked the vid!! Yep, we didn’t set out to find technical terrain on this trip..especially with the kids along. There’s plenty of that out there if you want to find it. That said, Owyhee Mud is like nothing else I’ve ever encountered. The clay mixed with volcanic soil is treacherous when muddy. Hoping to get back out there this Fall.
It can go south really quick out there. I remember watching the vid where you got snowed on out there and thinking "Yikes." We're close enough that we can kind of watch the weather and pick times where it's not too harsh. Thanks for watching! Love your channel.
@@Venture2Roam Thank you, we so appreciate it! It’s quite a distance from us so we have to plan carefully and yes like you said it can go south fast. Our kids’ spring break is mid April so we may give it a shot then. 😬
Bravo - well done! Would you be able to share the GPS coordinates for the Three Fingers Gulch campsite? I've explored Leslie Gulch and some of the easier to access points such as Succor Creek and Three Fingers Rock, but I am looking to do more. Thank you!
I've spent my entire life in oregon and have never been to that corner of the state. Grew up going on family hunting trips in Central/Eastern Oregon and it never ceases to amaze me what the landscapes hide from us. I should meet you guys out there some time to explore more.
The Owyhees are so deceiving that way, they are boring until all of the sudden...you're at the foot of a 1,000 foot cliff or massive river canyon. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!!!
My first time out there I was in a stock Ford explorer. The trails were great. The buzzy time I went out after a rain. Man it was slick I really don't think bigger tires or deeper tread would help in the strange mud much
Haha! That’s a great response! Glad you didn’t take that comment as criticism. God’s creation is amazing and it’s wonderful to see different parts of it through your lens that I may never see in person. Thank you for what you do! (And i will try to proofread a bit better next time lol)
Looks like an amazing trip. Boise native here, I do a lot of fishing on the Owyhee River never been out this deep. Video production was outstanding btw great content. New sub!
Thank you so much! I'm an Idaho native too (Weiser) I'm constantly amazed at how vast the Owyhees are, and what is actually out there when we go looking. So glad you liked the vids, and I really appreciate that you took the time to leave a comment. Cheers!
Idaho/Oregon and Hawaii are connected in many strange and interesting ways! I never new the origins of the name Owyhee until last year! Mahalo for taking the time to watch and comment!
Thanks Matt! Still very much learning how to color grade...but it was fun to experiment a little with this vid to try and bring out the essence of the images. Looking forward to your next vids!!!
lol i know that area well, i go camping and atving there often, and i just have to laugh because at 6:22 where you are camped used to be an outhouse at the top of that little hill
Great comment! We do that sometimes too...but it's harder on your tread...normally if we're like hitting a 10 mile stretch on less traveled roads, we'll keep them aired down...I think this was like 20 miles on well traveled roads so we were just being a bit conservative.
I think the whole route was about 60 miles or so on dirt. Probably 100 miles total before getting gas. This could easily be tacked on to a longer trip.
I moved to the Treasure Valley area almost 2 months ago from AZ. Before I left AZ, I traded in my fiesta for a 2022 Tacoma TRD off-road. Your videos are inspiring me and after each one, I plan a new trip I want to take (up tp 3 planned now). My first one was this weekend but it was only a day trip to ease into going off grid. I explored around the Chalk Basin area after I watched your Birch Creek Ranch video you recently posted. I guess if I ever see a couple Wranglers out in the Owyees, then I'll come say hi haha.
This trip was in October/November...which is a great time to go because there are less people. Another great time to go is in mid April or early June when everything is still green. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and comment!
Unreal! I'm making the trip from Vancouver BC to Moab in May and planned to spend a night at the Succor creek campground along the way. I was going to go through Leslie Gulch on the way back to the interstate but is this area an easy enough alternative? I'll be in a lifted Xterra on ATs
Just found you guys on TH-cam love your channel that was a great video thank you for sharing!! Do you have coordinates to where you guys are camping I would love to put that on Gaia and go there this summer with my family.
We’re so glad you found our channel and enjoyed the video! The Owyhees are near and dear to our hearts. We don’t post coords publicly, but you can DM us on IG for more specifics.
Loved your stunning video and watched it back to back several times seeking information on the route and road conditions. I want to add Three Fingers Gulch to my itinerary to Owyhee this fall. Can you provide a few more details on the road conditions and the specific route you took? The road looks rough, but not particularly steep or off-camber, and I never saw any evidence of steep rock ledges. Also, checking on my maps it looks like there are two possible routes to Three Fingers Gulch off of the better gravel road that passes through Succor Canyon - which way did you go? If I decide to go, I will be taking an F350 with Cooper AT3 XT tires and a lightweight popup camper on it. Thanks, on my way over to your TH-cam channel.
So glad you liked the vid. Our route can be found on All Trails...just look for the 3 fingers loop. Trail conditions are easy to moderate. No gatekeepers, I think an offorad trailer would do just fine.
This was filmed in October. It’s been quite wet out there here recently, so I’d just advise caution with the mud out there! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!!
Hey, we’re looking at going to the Owyhees over memorial day. Any suggested route that’s not just gravel roads ? Curious if the water crossings will be impossible?
I haven't been out there yet this Spring, so I don't know about the water crossings. The Owyhees are littered with fun trails. If I were you I'd look at All Trails or something like that and find a route that interests you. There's something for everyone out there.
@@Venture2Roam hey thanks so much I’m sure we will enjoy it! I always try to get a little information first, because we primarily travel solo. Since I got into this Overlanding gig, it’s been almost impossible to try to find people to travel with. Have a great holiday weekend. Hope you get out for some fun.
I see that you found my favorite campsite on Earth. Great video. I love the Owyhees and it’s a privilege to travel and explore there. Let’s keep it open for everyone.
My wife and I have camped at that dead-end big wall campspot several times in the last few years. It's a gem for sure. I have mixed feelings about there being a (fantastic) TH-cam video showing it haha please don't share coordinates or how to get there.
I have the same mixed feelings to be honest. It was just too beautiful not to share in the end. We never ever share coords on any of our videos and I can't imagine us ever doing it. I think anyone who really wants to find one of our spots can put it together by watching our videos, but we do care about leaving things better than we found it, and that's not the same for other people. I really appreciate your comment.
I use an ARB single piston. I'll use the double piston on my next build though. The single is fantastic, never had a single issue and it also runs my air lockers..but I'm airing up so many times, I think I'd like to save a bit of time there.
Wil, my husband and i love your channel, we just bought a jeep this year in lieu of selling our utv. We live in Kuna: your channel has given us many ideas of where to off-road. Where can we purchase a sticker for our back window of your logo for venture 2 roam?
Just found your channel. The cinematography is out of this world. I'd like to make a suggestion. I hope it's not taken as negative. You might want to consider talking less. It would be so relaxing just to watch you go through these stunning landscapes, hear the trucks do there thing w minimal music and talking. The shots lend themselves to be epic and amazing..but I keep getting yanked out of the moment you've created by narration that's usually unnecessary
So glad you found the channel! I love feedback, so unless folks are just being mean, I rarely take it negatively. Thanks for sharing your perspective...noted. I will say that I probably narrate less now than I used to, and have made at least one vid that you might enjoy more - it was almost entirely sounds with hardly any talking of any sort: th-cam.com/video/qDYP7-705ww/w-d-xo.html
If you've driven the Owyhees in the mud, you know that even flat dirt roads can be a nightmare out there. That said, it's all relative to your risk tolerance I think. When I have my family with me, my risk tolerance is usually very low.

That area is massive and there's so much to see. So glad you liked the video!
Wow, as always another incredible video. This inspires us to give the Owyhees another shot. Both trips so far have been disasters haha!
April can be great..it will be super green...but could be muddy. DM us if your heading out here next time!
@@Venture2Roam Definitely will!!
The adventure keeps going awesome man
And on and on and on 😀. Thanks for watching!!!
Great video!
Thank you!!!
My first time out there I was in a stock Ford explorer. The trails were great. The buzzy time I went out after a rain. Man it was slick I really don't think bigger tires or deeper tread would help in the strange mud much
I agree. The Owyhee mud is an equalizer. It super nasty stuff.
Love the Chanel. Earth is only about 6 yrs old-not millions.
6k
No matter how old the earth is, I’m stoked to hear you are liking the channel!!
Haha! That’s a great response! Glad you didn’t take that comment as criticism. God’s creation is amazing and it’s wonderful to see different parts of it through your lens that I may never see in person. Thank you for what you do! (And i will try to proofread a bit better next time lol)
Your content is amazing! Being in Oregon, I hope to run a trail with you guys!
Thank you so much! If you ever see a white jeep and nerd with a camera on the trail, please come by and say hi!
Cool vid! Looks like a great place to explore.
Thank you! It’s a really underrated area.
Very inspiring bro....
Thank you!!
Awesome Video🤙🤙
Thank you!!
Cheers!
I plan on taking my family there.... being Hawaiian I feel like I need to explore more of the Owyees!!!! Aloha aku nō!!!!
Idaho/Oregon and Hawaii are connected in many strange and interesting ways! I never new the origins of the name Owyhee until last year! Mahalo for taking the time to watch and comment!
How have we not seen your videos before? Great voice over and story, and making me realllll jealous that I haven’t been out that way yet
So glad you found our channel!! The Owyhees are waiting for you!!!
Great storytelling Will and the edit is clean. Also like your use of filters. The quality is solid and I enjoyed watching.
Thanks Matt! Still very much learning how to color grade...but it was fun to experiment a little with this vid to try and bring out the essence of the images. Looking forward to your next vids!!!
Great video, and incredible views. Liked and subscribed. Recommended by a friend.
So glad you found us! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch..stoked to hear you subscribed!! More coming soon!!!
lol i know that area well, i go camping and atving there often, and i just have to laugh because at 6:22 where you are camped used to be an outhouse at the top of that little hill
I wish it was still there…would have been nice 😂
Consider bringing chains next time🙌🏾. I have found success using chains. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea. I've never thought of using chains for mud! Thanks for sharing...and for watching!!
Once we air down, we don’t air up till we’re heading home lol. Just run em low, they’ll be just fine even for extended stretches on pavement
Great comment! We do that sometimes too...but it's harder on your tread...normally if we're like hitting a 10 mile stretch on less traveled roads, we'll keep them aired down...I think this was like 20 miles on well traveled roads so we were just being a bit conservative.
So that’s where our paper towels went!!! Mystery solved!
Hahahahaha! Pilot is a rapscallion.
How many miles of dirt roads in did you get to go ? Looks like a awesome place.
I think the whole route was about 60 miles or so on dirt. Probably 100 miles total before getting gas. This could easily be tacked on to a longer trip.
I really believe you could replace David Attenborough as a commentator your storytelling is absolutely amazing
Thank you so much, that’s a big compliment!!
That’s so awesome to hear! Welcome to the Treasure Valley!!! Definitely do come say hi if you ever see us out there!!!
Thanks, great video, I keep getting close and am determine to get there this year. Question, approximately what time of year was this trip?
This trip was in October/November...which is a great time to go because there are less people. Another great time to go is in mid April or early June when everything is still green. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and comment!
Great video guys can't wait to go explore, I'm going there in May .
Where was your second entry point ?
Thanks
May should be a great time to go! Sorry..I’m not sure what you mean by entry point.
@@Venture2Roamafter turning around because of the mud @4:03 in the video you guys got back on a trail. Where was that?
@@keithrichards8695 ahhh yes. Thank you 🙏🏻. It was Succor Creek.
Unreal! I'm making the trip from Vancouver BC to Moab in May and planned to spend a night at the Succor creek campground along the way. I was going to go through Leslie Gulch on the way back to the interstate but is this area an easy enough alternative? I'll be in a lifted Xterra on ATs
Possibly. There’s a ton to explain more out there…no need to stay in the campground as far as I’m concerned.
@@Venture2Roam Thanks! REALLY QUICK TURNAROUND.
Fantastic trip - how many psi do you usually air down to?
Thank you! We usually sit down to 15-20 depending on the terrain.
Outstanding job. Do you miss the Jeep or do you like the Bronco better?
No Broncos in my garage. I am 100% Jeep. But my buddy has a Bronco and he loves it.
@@Venture2Roam my bad, got you mixed up with another guy.
Took me to my home
So glad. I love it out there. Home for me too.
What time of year did you do this? Planning to go this week.. May 15 - 20 ish :)
@@jerrymarkee4269 Thanks! It's Kate's birthday this weekend...so fun is mandatory :)
I see that you found my favorite campsite on Earth. Great video. I love the Owyhees and it’s a privilege to travel and explore there. Let’s keep it open for everyone.
Great video, nice place, how do I get in on the next trip ?
Thank you! We haven’t done any open trips yet, but maybe this year??
@@Venture2Roam
I usually love exploring, but not trying to go too deep with only 1 vehicle
@@team2146 That’s a smart approach if you are solo.
Awesome video! I'm also in the Boise area. Would you me willing to share the location of the trail?
Hi Brian, you can DM us on Instagram or Facebook for more info.
What compressor do you use ?
I use an ARB single piston. I'll use the double piston on my next build though. The single is fantastic, never had a single issue and it also runs my air lockers..but I'm airing up so many times, I think I'd like to save a bit of time there.
Wil, my husband and i love your channel, we just bought a jeep this year in lieu of selling our utv. We live in Kuna: your channel has given us many ideas of where to off-road. Where can we purchase a sticker for our back window of your logo for venture 2 roam?
That’s so awesome. DM me on Instagram or Facebook for a sticker!!
Would you be willing to share the waypoints for that last campground you stayed at in this video? TIA.
Hey Veronica, I don't publicly share waypoints...but I do help my Patreons find good campsites :)
🤯 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great, thank you…cmon people, don’t be too lazy to hit the like button…
Thank you!!!!
A bit too much drama for driving some dirt roads.
If you've driven the Owyhees in the mud, you know that even flat dirt roads can be a nightmare out there. That said, it's all relative to your risk tolerance I think. When I have my family with me, my risk tolerance is usually very low.
14:55 She is drinking coffee from a $30 Yeti cup and cooking Spam for the kids? 🤦♂
What’s the conflict there??
