Installed my ghost subs today. Install was easy I had zero problems. I noticed a big night and day difference. Can’t wait to hear them when they break in.
Great video and information for BMW owners. Your product looks solid and a high end woofer design. I personal believe that if owners are willing to pay for the upgrade the packeage should come with enough deadening materia for the floor and at least the bottom of the enclosure except the stock rubber mount for decoupling. I myself would deaden the floor with a product like SoundSkins. 3-layer product- butyl rubber adhiesive w/ aluminum backing, topped off with a layer of closed cell acoustic foam. I believe a 10" x 20" sheet would be enough to make a nice improvement and at a low cost, charge like $25-50 extra on the kit but sell it as redesigned for SQ listens or some shit like that. My current project, a 2012 Malibu LS, has $2k in deadening materials installed in it by me so that my time isn't factored into that price. It was a complete interior removal except the dash w/ 95% coverage of Second Skin Damplifier Pro. Topped with 95% coverage of SoundSkin Pro. Luxury Liner Pro & OverKill, Fast ring speaker systems, Factory harness TESA taped by me, Acoustic foam for decoupleing where needed. All interior panels covered with SoundSkins for mass loading and decoupling from metal body. Speaker Gasket material, Butyl rope, Sound deadening seem tape, Gaf tape and i think thats it. Anyway, huge fan of deadening beacuse every little bit helps and in the end it all adds up to what kind of system you want. High end customers with money will always pay a bit more for deadening package where a guy like me who wants the same system has to learn how to install and apply all the SQ knowledge to make a system at a attainable working mans budget. It's only taken a decade to get to this level, 30 yrs of being a audiophile and dreaming of system of this caliber.
I just did this job myself. For the F30 sedan, the following tools are required: T50 for seat bolts T20 to remove grille from speaker housing Lever-style metal clip removal tool to loosen harness from speaker housing 10mm socket for two bolts holding speaker housing to car body T10 for four screws holding speaker to speaker housing As far as removing the housing from the car, getting it out is not too bad, but getting the damn thing back in is a nightmare! The side port of the speaker housing has to contact the door sill in just the right way. Getting that angle correct while dodging the seat hanging over you is a real bitch.
This guy has done this many times and yet never learned anything to make it easier. I did this to my car and its a lot easier. You can have difficulty accessing the inner area because of the seat, as you can see its digging on his arm and using his arm to lever it. All you have to do is recline the seat forward before tilting it back, so that it tilts backward even more and lever a long tool or tyre wrench to keep it aback.
@@bavsound Okay thank you, i was worried that the airbag could maybe activate while working on the seat or the Airbag lamp lightens up or something I have a 2017 BMW G30 530i xdrive with 2 Years warranty left. Obviously you can't put the battery off because of the electric seats.
HI...just curious...if you where able to reinstall it with both speakers and housing together....why not remove it altogether earlier and not removed speaker first and then the housing?
My Mini Cooper Countryman F60 came with the Standard Audio System.Do U know if there is a Ghost Subwoofer in the Standard configuration of my vehicle?.I can see the panel for the Subwoofer under both the front seats but am not sure if the subwoofer is under it?.Can anyone enlighten me?.
hello love the video, I would like to no what would be the bust way to update my stereo, and my speakers, + would like a subwoofer added to it + a amp to it to......can you help me out with this as in what would be the bust head unit to use and bust speakers etc I have a E46 bmw 325ci convertible 2004 ?
hello! Is it possible to install this subwoofer even if i have the basic hifi sound in my car? i think i dontk have actually a subwoofer installed with the basic hifi sound in my car.
Josh - depending on your BMW, you may or may not have subwoofers under the seats. Shoot us an email at sales@bavsound.com with your BMW info and we'll go from there.
Awesome videos and very informative! I have just bought a 2013 X5 40d here in Sweden and I was wondering what upgrades I could possibly do for the existing Audio package installed. Can I purchase kits for all 4 doors, ghost woofers and the center (Middle IP speaker) with Amplifier in one package? Is it possible to ship to Sweden? or would it be cheaper to have it sent to my parents in the US and they can care package the shipment to me?
Cool video and everything ! But please never ever leave your tools you’re working with on top of a customer uncovered and unprotected seat ! That’s so unprofessional and quite frankly in the case of this car, with leader interior just careless...
Generally love BMW.. but they make the stupidest stock speaker layouts. With the weirdest sizes. Like I know it's a performance car and they want to save weight. But a 4inch speaker? Really. I do love the Bavsound kits though.
The sizes are odd because most of the hk systems for these cars is totally custom and optimized for the acoustics of the car- as opposed to most vehicles, where they just pick spots for speakers and throw in some off the shelf shit that they rebrand.
Seeing you pealing off the foam out of carpet made me cry. I'd never let someone like you to work on my car. And the way you tucked the carpet back in.......so sloppy. Just like the door tweeter in G30 that i saw you installing.

Great info! I almost took the car back to BMW to replace the driver's side subwoofer. With the proper tools, it does take 15 minutes. Thanks again.
How do those speakers sound? Is it much difference
Thanks for the videos, I think I am going to go for it and do this on my M2, sound is decent stock but I hear your upgrades are well worth it.
Good info. Also, manual focus and a light under the seat would to wonders for this vid.
A bit late to respond here but we are working on an update now! Should be released in a few weeks!
Does an 08 650i convertible have these floor speakers
I’d like to install these on rear arm rests of some classic cars. I know these are made specifically for a handful of makes. Is this possible?
Very difficult to say as our stuff is chassis specific. Did you ever give it a try?
What about the airbag in the seat?
What would you like to know about it? You don’t need to deal with it while installing these subs.

What happened to the shiny cover that woofer came with? I didn’t see that get installed.
Thx for the question. This is an older installation video. We are working on an updated version with the shiny cover in the weeks to come!
What size is it ? And if you can go bigger
Can I add this without having to change anything else and or add an amp?
Yes!
I have an 2018 f90 w the B&W system. Do y’all offer a sub upgrade for that system?
Send us an email at info@bavsound.com and we will talk about your options!
I have the standard system in my m4 (no amp etc) I've read that my subs are 160mm not 200mm. Would I need new enclosures to add the 200mm subs?
im having issues with a 2011 bmw 528i. would anyone happen to have the exact speaker wiring diagram?
Wish we could help you out with that. What are you trying to achieve?
WHy dont you just take the seat out of the way? What are the implications with that?
It is just not necessary. We like to keep things simple. Just lean it back and you are set.
Will this fit in Bmw 6 gt g32 ?
Does the 2017 Cooper Clubman have anything such as a floor mat that covers that sub woofer under the front seats?
HI...just curious...if you where able to reinstall it with both speakers and housing together....why not remove it altogether earlier and not removed speaker first and then the housing?
Grate job !
Do all BMW’s have underseat subwoofers?
Depends on the year!

Should he not have disconnected the battery, once the seats were lose

nope. seat has to be removed
What about the E36? Do you have ghost subs for the E36 M3?
No we do not …
@@bavsound a little late on this. I sold this car a few years ago. 😆
@@DPCPhotog yeah - we’ve been pretty bad at responding to our TH-cam videos… We are better at product development :)
Do these fit the HK F56 Mini's as well?
What size are the door tweeters in 2004 e46 sedan ?
Raheem - the OE tweeters are ~18mm in diameter. Our upgrade uses 25mm silk dome tweeters.

You really should add audio comparison to your videos so we can see how its compared to stock...
Comparing audio over you tube is nearly impossible. The bass response will likely not be represented.
Lmao
do u have to unplug if you dont remove the enclosure?
bpatel1498 yes you unplug speaker
Where exactly do you install the dampening dynomat? On the metal frame at the bottom?
I believe he said people have been putting some in the bottom of the plastic housing that holds the subwoofer.

Website: "no need to remove seats!"
Video: *removes seat*
😑
He didnt remove them, he just moved them.
I suggest better lighting to see whats going on. Hard to see when all I'm looking at is a dark hole under your seat.

You buy BMW for the engine noise, you want a good audio - go Japanese..
BMW's speaker layouts aren't stupid. The sizes are odd but that doesn't mean they can't sound good.

skinny jeans and then politically correct....turn in your pass to touch any BMWs
Give up and stop removing enclosure, it's just dumb.
The enclosure is tuned to the speaker. If you use the new enclosure you will get the best performance.
There's no "new enclosure".
He just showed how it looks
