I feel that the way Peter Pan is structured is how being a kid is like.
    1. For a while, you just enjoy the playfulness around you and get invested in it.
    2. But when the seriousness hits, and the kids have to make serious decisions that could affect them permanently, I see that as a metaphor for life.
That’s why I feel like a lot of people enjoy the film so much because it reminds people of how they felt growing up.
Oh and Captain Hook and Smee just steal the show!

I agree with you about Chicken Little. The animation in that movie was so creepy and weird-looking, and there were so many bad messages in it that made the movie unnecessarily mean-spirited. For example, the dodgeball scene where the rules were literally the popular kids got to hurl dodgeballs at the unpopular kids while they didn’t get to have anything to defend themselves with. And I understood that the whole thing about the sky falling is the whole premise of the movie, but the fact that an entire town didn’t bother to look up and go “Oh wait, no it isn’t. Haha, very funny.” And then continue with their day and then bully him years after it happened…just…ughhhh

Well, one thing I think you're overlooking about Peter Pan, Brian, it's this: It's about Wendy.
See, Wendy get saddened that her father says that it's time for her to grow up, so she wants to run away to a land of endless childhood fantasy, yet when she gets there, she finds that after a bit, it doesn't bring her as much pleasure as it would if she were younger.
She starts to realize that her father's right. She spends a good portion of the movie jealous of mermaids and Tiger Lily which shows that her mind is less and less on playtime and more on boys and romance. She starts the movie afraid to grow up, but comes to realize that since this land of endless childhood fun brings her little pleasure, it's already begun.
Same concept is in Alice in Wonderland too.

So, I get why people hate on the Black Cauldron, but here are at least three reasons why it's my all time favourite Disney Movie.
1.) The animation is the best of this era hands down.
2.) All of the characters have something I like about them. Taran and Gurgi's Arcs are well handled, The Horned King is one of my all-time favorite Disney villains and needs more love, and Eilonwy is the most supportive Disney Princess in their movies.
3.) I think this did a much better job at getting me into the books than the books did.

The major change I would've given to Good Dinosaur is to actually make it to the watering hole with them. Peter Pan is my dad's favorite movie, which is kinda funny as he is a full blood Indian (1/2 Cherokee 1/2 Choctaw). He loves What Makes a Red Man Red and called his favorite daughter (not me) Tiger Lily as a term of endearment.
We didn't move to SoCal until I was 15. We went to Disneyland when I was 16 and I saw the Main Street Electric Parade and loved it. Any time it comes back, I will go and see it.

Yeah, I get it. I love what makes a red man red! It's so catchy. It's a total highlight of Peter Pan. I am a South American Indian, specifically the Aymara on my mother's side. I always question why are other people offended by this, but not me? I've always wondered, but will probably never get why I don't mind it. The song, I mean. Kind of an old soul, maybe that's it. I don't know. Ok, well. Goodbye, and have a blessed day.

  • @liamtheman2099

Brian, I think you and I are kind of in the same boat when it comes to Peter Pan. I don’t think it’s awful but it’s not one that I’d pop into the dvd player every day. The animation’s decent. I always laugh my head off when it comes to Hook and the crocodile. Though something I realized was that there were 3 things that I mainly remembered. One was Peter, Wendy, John and Michael are flying to Neverland with the song, “You can fly” playing. Another was all the scenes with Captain Hook and that’s mainly due to Hans Conreid as the voice. And the third is Hook’s ship covered in Pixie Dust as it flies off Neverland, it’s a great visual. If it really wants to show the Neverland kids playing games before it’s time for Hook, there should at least be fun games. At least in Return to Neverland, it shows the kids playing in the mud or jumping off trees or interacting with the animals.

I love Treasure Planet so much. When compared to Atlantis, to me it doesn’t compare much. I like Atlantis but my thing with it is a lot of the duration of the movie is just traveling to Atlantis and then they barely spend any time there before everything starts happening. Like we barely get to see the place. I guess the same can be said about Treasure Planet but I see a lot more character development happening on the journey, and it’s a lot more individual between Jim and Silver.

If I ever had some Disney hot takes it would be these
    1. While Wish is obviously a flawed movie and could have done better in a LOT of areas, it honestly isn’t “the worst Disney movie ever made” as many people over-exaggerate, even if they self-righteously say it’s “without exaggeration.” And its animation, while not the best 2.5-D animation in film history, is also bashed too hard.
    2. Cars 2 is NOT the worst Pixar film, while still flawed, I honestly liked Cars 2. And I’d honestly say Lightyear is a worse Pixar movie than Cars 2.
    3. The Force Awakens is the ONLY good movie in The Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars. Unlike TLJ and TROS, this movie honestly feels well-paced and not rushed, and knows when to introduce a character old or new. And it wasn’t even trying to fix the problems that its predecessor had unlike the next two movies. Though I’m just going to say it….. Both Rey AND Finn should have been the main characters/force-sensitive and should have been a Jedi duo (with Rey wielding Luke’s first lightsaber and Finn wielding Luke’s second one).
    4. Pandora, Galaxy’s Edge, Rise of the Resistance, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind are the only good recent additions to the Disney Parks IMO.
    4. Not all of the late-Eisner era stuff in the Disney Parks from the late 90s-early 2000s was bad; I know this is probably my nostalgia speaking, but still.
    5. After experiencing what WDW was like during the pandemic without FastPass or the dreaded Lightning Lane, I now feel that fast-passes shouldn’t be a thing at all as they made stand-by lines even worse.
    6. Disney didn’t “make The Simpsons worse,” they were already on a decline after the movie. And with the exception of Blue Sky Studios being shut down and a name change, 20th Century Fox was the LEAST effected thing after being acquired by Disney.
    7. While Disney’s live action remakes were never needed to begin with there are some good ones like Jungle Book (2016), Aladdin (2019), Christopher Robin, and Mary Poppins Returns.
    8. Onward is the most underrated/overhated Pixar movie ever, and I’m honestly tired of the whole “Jack Black should have been Barley instead of Chris Pratt” stuff. I still hate how the pandemic was the BIGGEST reason this movie got banished into obscurity.

That's just my theory but I like it. I think her gift is the house 2.0. Her abuela had the gift of the house and to have her children having power. She lost it after the house was destroyed. Mirabel was the reserve maybe😅

The reason why the people mover exists for me is for what you said here… to take a break for 5 min. I pretty much agree with everything you said here, except Chicken Little (I’m biased since my cousin worked on the animation for it) and Peter Pan. To me Peter pan is all about childhood imagination. One thing I think is dated and should retire is Figment, that is one terrible ride with still incandescent light bulbs. Great video btw!

I absolutely love The Good Dinosaur. It's not perfect, but it really just works. Peter Pan feels like it was thrown together by kids, but I guess that is the basic idea of it? I also love WALL-E. I fully agree with you on Chicken Little.
No arguments from me on that one.
I'm also not even an average fan of The Black Cauldron.
A couple months back I got lucky enough I found a DVD copy at a Salvation Army store, still in its original wrapping and a special edition copy.
Hadn't seen the movie yet, so, since it's a cult classic, thought it was a great chance.
Finally got around to watching it 3 days ago and... it's okay, I guess.
I don't see it as bad or anything, but, after seeing it for myself, I can understand why it bombed.
I don't DISLIKE it per say, but I don’t see myself rewatching it as often I do most other Disney movies.
Taking the other cult classics into the mix, I'll see myself easily rewatching Atlantis: The Lost Empire far more than The Black Cauldron.
Heck, I'll watch Atlantis: Milo's Return more than it.
I'll also agree on The Good Dinosaur. Not only do I like it, I'll definitely choose to watch it over Toy Story 4 any given day of the week, without a second thought.
Heck, my last statement in context, I'll gladly choose to rewatch The Black Cauldron over Toy Story 4 without a second thought.
And I agree on the Peter Pan ride.
Went on it back in 2012 (can't remember if it was at Hong Kong Disneyland or Tokyo Disneyland) and, for how long we waited to ride it, it went by way too fast for me to consider it worth waiting that long.
I've only seen the Disneyland Electric Light Parade once (again, don't remember if it was Hong Kong Disneyland or Tokyo Disneyland), but I did see it and... the lights are impressive, I'll grant it, but it's not something I see myself wanting to see too often.
And, if that travelling around the world ride is anything like The Voyager ride in Dreamworld in Queensland, which takes you over multiple areas in Australia, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it over the one you weren't a fan of.
Most of your Hot Takes I'm in agreement with it seems

I respect your opinion, but I love
Meet the Robinsons and think it’s an underrated masterpiece! I agree that the family aspect is extremely goofy and haphazard, but it doesn’t bother me that much. Plus, there are so many hilarious jokes, Bowler Hat Guy is a funny and threatening villain, and I absolutely love the message it teaches about not giving up on your dreams, learning from your failures, and

Chicken Little the movie is questionable, sure, but what about Chicken Little the character? I think he's adorable and deserves a second chance.
I didn't get why Living With The Land is so popular, but I understood when I realized it's the last edu-tainment attraction left in Epcot.
And yes, I agree, I don't get why Peter Pan is always such a lengthy wait in the parks. What makes it so special apart from its unique, suspended ride system?

To your hot take on Main Street Electronical Parade - I'm 26 and I watched it when I was 4, and so it is one of my earliest memories. It was cool. But I don't really feel nostalgic for it. I think all Disney parades are great.
Peter Pan. I devoted 5 years of my life to the story while writing and then publishing my own fanfiction. That being said, not a huge fan of Disney's take on it, and even less a fan of the live action remake. I agree, in the original book there is a lot more going on, and they should have added that.

I 100% respect all of these, everybody has their taste when it comes to these things, but I just wanted to say:
