I heard that Don Bluth left Disney during production of The Fox and the Hound because it was “a cute story instead of a meaningful one”. I don’t know what he was talking about. This is the movie where a widow is forced to abandon her pet in the woods. It’s a story about how friendship can overcome what society expects of you. What’s not meaningful about that?
@@jacksonsay37 Copper and Tod were great friends! But they had to separate because of the fact that they live different lives. I love this movie! It is heartbreaking and truthful!
I remember that, he didn’t like the film because Disney was straying too far away from the original source material, that was one of the reasons why he even started his own studio, essentially Chief was not supposed to survive the train, but Disney higher ups kept pushing to have him survive it despite the Team saying it was a bad idea to change one of the more pivotal moments of the Book so when the higher ups got their way, a bunch of people left I think that’s why The Secret of Nimh was so dark To an extent, I kinda see it, Disney can make really good stories but, they stray from the original source material a lot, like Jungle Book is a great film but it really doesn’t take the source material that seriously and it sorta cuts out the ending of the Book and then Hunchback, it’s a masterpiece even though it has a message that is so different from the book
The worst thing I hated about Toy Story 4 is how Jesse, along with the other OG toys, are sidelined. Like, idk how 5 is gonna work considering how the last movie ended with Woody with Bo. But whatever they do, some of the other original characters better get some kinda moments to shine. And yes, I know sadly the Potatoe Heads voice actors have passed away. At the same time thought, I'm sure they can find away to make it work.
I love Toy Story 4 but yeah I'll admit it's not my favorite of the franchise there's 3 things I hate of it, Bonnie neglecting Woody, the gang being sidelined, and Buzz being dumb down.
Agreed. Bonnie LITERALLY promised to Andy that she'd take care of ALL of them. Then the one she CLEARLY loved the most she neglects? Even for a little kid that doesn't feel right... There SHOULD have been more of the gang involved in the movie, helped Woody with his journey rather than doing basically nothing. The BIGGEST failure of the movie is Buzz... Sure he's never been the smartest out there... But he's smart enough and tactical genius, they seriously dumbed him down to thinking his pre recorded voice lines were "his inner voice" when... He's never thought that? And he KNOWS they're there because he's a toy...
That is correct. Good sequels can exist, but because in those cases it's the original source material which has expansion possibilities. Not every franchise has. It's also about the execution itself. Sometimes a good idea can be executed superficially.
I do love toy story but i completely agree with toy story 4, it wasn't necessary, toy story 3 is a PERFECT ending, it made me cry to see woody's best friend *andy* leave to college and woody saying "see you later...partner" that was perfect! >:^
I agree it should have ended with Toy Story 3. But now there making a Toy Story 5 which I don’t understand why. I feel like the more sequels are made after a movie the more people lose joy for those movies. And personally I think that the originals are mostly better than the sequels.
Definitely read the book The Secret of NIMH is based on. If I remember correctly, it is called "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH". The movie departed a lot from the story in the book. Plus, the book spends much more time explaining what happened to the rats and mice in NIMH.
I think I’ve watched happy feet once as a child in the theaters and your take of it is spot on to how I felt. I don’t even need to rewatch it but I know exactly the turn you are talking about. As a kid I was like oh dang now I’m sad 😂
I hate the way Toy Story 4 regressed Buzz's character development. And the way that Buzz and Woody split up in the end?! So many strange choices were made. I just pretend that movie doesn't exist and I hope 5 is better.
Pretending something doesn’t exist just because you hate it is one of highest forms of toxicity. It’s honestly annoying how people childishly pretend things they hate “don’t exist”. I understand why 4 was unnecessary and its problems, but still, even if I agree that 4 was unnecessary, pretending it “doesn’t exist,” is honestly a bit much.
I'll be honest, the Happy Feet part caught me a little off guard, but I'll respect your opinion. 😌 9:42 This part made me laugh! 😄 Keep being awesome, Brian! 😉👍
I don't know about the rest of you, but for me, the first animated movie that comes to mind here is The Polar Express. Sure, the animation looked good for the time, but the Conductor kind of killed it. I just really don't like how Tom Hanks comes across as being all stern and seemingly annoyed with the kids the whole movie. It's very off-putting and it kind of raises my anxiety to hear him speaking. He's not an enjoyable or likable character at all in it.
I get where you're coming from. Until last month, I'd only seen it once. My friend was telling me that it's one of his favourite Christmas movies so I decided to watch it again and it's a very mixed bag for me. I do like the main protagonists but my thoughts on the conductor are pretty much the same. Plus, quite a few scenes felt rather pointless (the girls' ticket getting lost, only for it to return 5 minutes later, the Steven Tyler elf) and only seemed to exist to show off what they could do with the animation.
lucy and gru are meant to be together!! lucy is quirky and defensive to people she cares about, while gru is typically more serious about life and tempermental sometimes... they are honestly one of my fave cartoon couples!!
Me too! I really liked Hidden World and considered it a masterpiece. I was shocked to find out that people hated it or disliked it compared to HTTYD 1 &2. And I preferred HTTYD 2 to 1, but that's apparently not a thing most other people do. And I heard so much hate for certain Disney movies like Frozen 2. I loved Frozen 2 and preferred its soundtrack to the first one. I might just be wired. And a lot of people hate the anime Fairytail and it's popular to hate on. But I thought it was just a fun ride, sure it had issues, but I loved the friendship message.
Family Guy - UGH, totally with you there. I also struggled with adult sitcom animated shows like it until my husband started watching Bob's Burgers, which has probably the most loving and supportive family I have ever seen depicted in a show like this. Toy Story 4 - People liked that? Lmao I also feel like it disrespected the ending of 3. Despicable Me sequels - I liked the first movie, it was cute. The rest are forgettable. The Minion movies are atrocious. Happy Feet - I keep forgetting like 99% of Happy Feet lmao, it's fine in concept but I agree maybe the execution could've been better. Secret of the Nimh - Ooh you kicked a hornets nest lmao. I haven't actually seen it yet, so I've got no comment until I see it for myself. (Before the aforementioned hornets turn on me, my friend is going to be showing it to me once he gets the chance, it's already being worked on lmao)
Happy Feet and The Secret of Nimh are both childhood classics of mine! The realistic animation, musical numbers, and cast was what hooked me with Happy Feet. Plus, it was my first drive-in movie experience. The Secret of Nimh is just one of those Don Bluth films that I loved watching as a kid and still do as an adult. No further explanation needed.😅
I got my fair share as well. The video "How Toy Story 4 Destroyed Everything" (y'all know the one) is honestly exactly how I felt during Toy Story 4, a film I was fairly excited about. A lot of people call it a video of spiteful meaningless nit-picks (which is a very non-constructive and pointless way of shrugging of a passionate breakdown and critique of a film regardless) and but like I said, that was very reflective of my experience watching the movie too. A fumble by a thousand cuts is still a fumble, and A LOT of Toy Story 4's cut were deep and fundamentally destructive. I hated something about every scene pretty much, that film is irredeemable to me. I'd say Big Hero 6 as my second pick but honestly I think people have started disliking it nowadays so it's not really beloved anymore. With that in mind, another film everyone loves and I hate is How to Train Your Dragon 3. Nothing about it was a satisfying resolution to what was seen in the previous films and 3 shows, in isolation it's a boring plot, the characters are terrible and shallow, it was so bad bro, can't understand how people like it. Imo it's DreamWorks biggest modern disaster. Then there are certain films everyone adores and I just like, not particularly passionately, just think they're solid. There I'd place Kung Fu Panda 3, Shrek 2 and both Spiderverse films (I find all 4 of these OK enough low 7/10s).
Toy Story 4 is okay but I have to agree, it is nothing like the rest of the series. Now with Toy Story 5 on the horizon, I am more skeptical than anything. It’s a shame really.
I like both Despicable Me and Toy Story series, but did not understand that Jessie and the others were placed aside, while Woody and Buzz were with Bo Peep in most parts of the film. Also, I am not a fan of Family Guy, but only watched the first part of Happy Feet (I love Robin Williams), so did not understand anything about the film and the show, and never heard of The Secret of Nimh before…
You hit the nail in the head with Toy Story 4, dude. All of the characters were acting out of character, the B plot with Forky was heavily undercooked, and the ending message went against the message that was shared with all three of the original trilogy!
I think the biggest one that I heavily dislike, but everyone seems to like is Shrek. I can not STAND Shrek himself, his ogre human wife thing; and especially Donkey. The dragon is cool though. The animation is horrifying, the stories and plots don't make any sense, the characters are just weird. The whole thing is an acid trip. The only good thing that came out of that series was Puss n' Boots. He even rightfully got his own movies which were amazing.
I agree with you on Family Guy being your first pick I always thought that it was made only cause of the fact that The Simpsons were around and I love the Simpsons a lot ngl. It’s like when Descendants came out when Ever After high was still around to Ever after high and I believe Monster High would’ve been continued with the major crossover movie and I wish they did cause I loved Ever after high cause there was a lot of potential with the show to. The new Monster High I really dislike compared to the original one I believe they got like that since competing with Descendants still. It sounds like a long rant I just did lol. Also with Toy Story 5 hopefully it gets better I did like number 4 but they should’ve done it better.
I actually don't like cartoons that are only for kids or only for adults. I enjoy all-audience cartoons like the ones disney puts out. You'll never see me watching a preschool cartoon or an adult cartoon. It's sad to hear you don't like the despicable me franchise. A lot of people seem to hate the despicable me sequels, and I don't understand why. I love the whole franchise, and I have no complaints. FIGHT ME! But I respect your opinion. And about toy story 4, I understand why it feels disconnected from the others. Andy isn't in it. But still, isn't it nice to see a toy story movie from bonnie's perspective? Surely we were all curious to see how bonnie was doing with the toys after andy gave them to her, until we got the 4th film. So i'm glad we got it.
TS4 is not only an unnecessary movie, but it’s also a bad movie and one of the worst Pixar movies. It has a director of the movie REALLY despises the Pixar Theory, addressing of making a toy (out of arts and craft) to life WITHOUT showing any of Andy’s arts and craft coming to life, using songs from previous movies, Forky being able to freeze in front of Bonnie, & the worst of them is character assassinations. Bo, Jessie, Buzz, & Woody suffered from this. -Bo’s character is completely different from the first two movies Toy Story movies. -Jessie getting over her claustrophobia (in Toy Story of Terror) to only get it again. -Buzz was dumb and kept on replying on his “inner voice” when in the previous movie clearly shows that he can achieve his goal intelligently and handles the situation without any “inner voice”. -Woody chose to stay with Bo and not go with his gang (his family) to be with his kid, Bonnie. He betrayed all of the lessons that he had learned by giving up on Bonnie after Andy entrusted her to take care of Woody. Without even realizing it, the ending of this movie proves that Stinky Pete and Lotso are both right about toys not lasting forever.
I see why one wouldn’t like Toy Story 4. After all Bonnie broke her promise to Andy. But I thought it was a wonderful way to end the series…and now Andrew Stanton is working on a 5th one 🤦🏼♂️ I think Despicable Me 3 literally saved the series. I never tend to like when the main character is despicable despite the title and after seeing all El Macho had done I was super close to giving up on the series but the third one was super adventurous plus I love 80’s music. It ended up being a movie where I ended up loving the protagonist and the villian! Best combo ever imo. I neither liked or hated Happy Feet. I definitely relate when it comes to not blending in. But I agree with you that many rising actions ruined the most of it.
So here's my unpopular opinion: I hate the 1st Despicable Me the most out of the entire franchise. Two reasons why. One, the animation kinda looks bad to me. Yeah, it was Illuminations' first big movie, so the budget wasn't as big compared to the future movies, I get that. It still just looks bland to me. And my second reason? I hate Vector... SO MUCH!!! Like, I'm sorry, but I find him so annoying and irritating all the time. More so than the Minions at their worst moments. And apparently he's like everyone's favorite villain in the series which I just don't see the love.
The reason people love Vector is because he’s funny, so more likely it’s not your type of humour (tiny toilet in particular is why I love him), but I do agree with the animation, the minions are definitely the worst part, I personally say it’s a passable movie and that goes downhill with each movie moving forward, so I’m curious on what order you would put them in?
I don't hate Despicable Me the first movie I enjoy the Despicable Me movies I'm not hating on them but there are some things in some of the Despicable Me movies that I do not like
I don't mind any of them, but I cannot stand 4. I thought the villain was weak and not at all likeable, the Minions were at their worst and felt too much like the main focus of the movie, Gru Jr was an unnecessary addition, and I thought the plot was extremely boring. 3 wasn't all too great either
The animated film(s) I hate the most that everyone else seems to like are the Trolls films. Yes, they're colorful and visually creative, but I don't like the characters, not a fan of the jukebox musical aspect, and I hate the message all the movies are going for cause it seems to me like they're promoting toxic positivity. Hence why I love the Inside Out films SO MUCH more cause they show how important ALL emotions are as long as we keep them in check. Btw, Secret of NIMH was kind of a big surprise (although you're not the ONLY youtuber who disagrees with the consensus that it's one of the greatest films in animation), the rest weren't as much of a surprise though cause I know there are plenty of people who don't like those or find them overrated or both, and I can see why and honestly I don't LOVE them per se, but I casually like them (maybe except for the first few seasons of Family Guy cause I still personally found it funny at the start at least) And I also admit, while I never hated it per se, it also took me a while to really get what The Secret of NIMH was going for, I was actually introduced to it by the Nostalgia Critic (yes, yes, I know he's aged poorly and he's not very reliable as an actual critic but hear me out) and it's one of the very few times today that I took his critiquing a bit more seriously, cause his love for the film (or most of the other films he loves for that matter) felt more believable and made sense to me as opposed to a lot of his criticisms. Edit: With all due respect, you seem to have forgotten that the reason they were moving the house in Secret of NIMH was because they were being threatened by the humans (and of course, Brisby's family couldn't just move out cause one of her kids was too sick to go out). And idk if this makes much of a difference, but another thing about the experimented rats and mice is that they had the ability to live and stay young longer than regular ones as well as do more advanced stuff like creating their own electricity, and as for the "deus ex machina" ending, I just kinda go with the NC's explanation where he called the stone and the magic a representation of "the unknown".
To me, it seemed like they made Toy Story 4 just because the franchise is so popular, so maybe making money was the driving factor-but I don't know that for sure. My favorite part about Despicable Me is the minions. I would like to have minions working for me and doing all my chores.
I love the Minions/Despicable Me movies because they lift my spirits and make me laugh, plain and simple. Gru's character development in the first DM was particularly good for a non-Disney animated film, and his search for parental love, support, and acceptance was echoed in the girls' storyline, which tied it together well. That said, DM3 was a bit disastrous. If the sibling-rivalry plot had been echoed in the girls, it would have been better. Or, an even bigger improvement would have been going with a bullying angle (i.e. the new AVL director making Gru a scapegoat and how his firing is a blow to his self-esteem), instead of the "long-lost brother" story. I don't have strong feelings on the others in your list.
I generally feel the same way about these movies... maybe not for family guy, but I completely understand your opinion. Even though you talked about movies that you don't like on this video, i just feel like talking about it just to get out of my chest. There is one particular show that I honest to God just do not care for or even like at all, but everyone likes it, and it's TADC (the Amazing Digital Circus). I can not, for the life of me, understand why so many people like this show. I saw the first episode when it first came out, and I thought it was ok... not the greatest, but it was ok. But then, later on, people kept treating this show like it was the birth of Christ and saying how it's like the "greatest show of all time" and I'm just like what's the big deal. The hype around this show was just so annoying and underrated for me that I didn't even bother watching any other episodes from that show. Why watch something if you're not gonna like it or find any enjoyment out of it? And listen, I have nothing against people who like this show, I just don't like the fact that this mediocre show is getting more praise than any other indie animated show that came before and after. I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this comment, but to be honest, I don't care. I just wanted to get MY opinions about this show out of my chest, and I hope you can at least respect it.
Toy Story 4 I agree with. Woody completely put aside his “be there for the kid mentality.” I don’t like Forky at all. He’s annoying and unfunny. I liked Ducky and Bunny, but the story just felt so grounded. If they wanted to prove that life goes on, they could’ve done anything else. Bonnie not caring about Andy’s toys made her seem like the wrong choice. Bonnie’s chatacter just seemed like “let’s make the girl take an honorable ending to an awesome franchise into an “I don’t want these.”
The Secret of NIMH made me angry as a child. I watched it shortly after reading the book. I loved the book...and they were nothing alike. They should have stuck with the original story.
Happy Feet will always have a special place in my heart, as it’s what made me wanna start taking dance classes, but I do agree that the tone of the movie definitely shifts drastically halfway through and it kind of comes out of nowhere
Despicable Me was the first (other than Ice Age) to do the cute funny side character thing. It's way overdone now but it was funny as hell at the time. Same with the characters. They acted like real people but in some villian world and the kids actually acted like funny kids. Most movies at the time were just chock full of character tropes and followed the same plot lines. Kinda like when someone comes up with an original idea today instead of just making the fiftieth sequel
I felt Toy Story 3 was the ULTIMATE conclusion to Andy's story with the toys, a beginning for Bonnie's stories, and overall, a genuine love letter to the fans. The 4th movie wasn't too bad, and I say that because, while it is unnecessary, Woody got a great send-off to be with Bo Peep at the carnival, even if she didn't have a major role like characters like Buzz, Mr. Potato Head, Rex, or Slinky Dog.
Spirit Stallion of the Cimeron herd. I know I mispelled that. Anyway, my girls were the same way about that, as you are about Happy Feet. As soon as Spirit was adult, they were done watching. The full time Spirit was a baby, they were on cloud nine.
One movie that everyone likes, but I don’t is Encanto. It’s rare for me to dislike a Disney film, but Encanto was the first. Apart from the songs, which were decent, the overall plot did not get me fully invested. In turn, I was mostly bored with it.
I like it, but it’s not one of my favorites so I understand where you’re coming from. But one movie I really like that some people seem to hate for some reason is Luca. Like, Luca is such an adorable movie. I don’t understand!😅
You’re not alone buddy I am not a big fan of Toy Story 4 either in fact I am so against that movie so much that I label it as none cannon and just never happened
I cannot STAND Toy Story 4. Much like Wreck It Ralph 2, it just leaves me saying, "If that's the path you're taking, then what was the point of the previous film then?" The fact that Woody left the others when they said they'd be together forever just rubs me the wrong way and it's one of the many reasons I hate this film
Agree with you on Happy Feet and Toy Story 4. Honestly, Toy Story should just have been left at 3 and Happy Feet I've always preferred in its first half. However, I have to disagree with you on Despicable Me. The "Lipstick Taser!" moments of the 2nd film are still my favourite moments / quotes in film history, and I've always loved Gru's mum. Still enjoyed the 4th film, but I just wish they had've had a different ending. Gru is not meant to be weak.
Its a great video but I know I've already watched it a few months ago. I don't know if Brian is reuploading or if TH-cam is doing the casual TH-cam thing and glitching saying the video is brand new. Either way love your stuff! :)
I honestly liked Happy Feet two more cause it was way more funnier and Erik is adorable, and bride of light is such a wonderful song, every other song is jukebox musical but the sequel has an original song, also under pressure as free penguins was so epic and satisfying Though I don't really like that the humans tried to help but decided to just abandon the penguins In hindsight that is unintentional dark comedy Also the baby walruses are so adorable they're voiced by little Australian kids and their accents omg I don't know if you seen sequel but I hope you give it a try maybe you will like it I bet you will enjoy the krill Bill and Will
I didn't like Happy Feet either. You're not alone there. I went to see it because everyone else said it was amazing, but I was a bit, "Meh...wait a second, what happened in this movie again?" I completely forgot it after I saw it.
Pixar always makes sequels because they feel they have a good story for it. It’s not all about the money. Cars 2 got greenlit because it was something Lasseter really cared about; the merch money was merely the impetus to justify making the film.
Here are 5 Shows/Movies that I myself don’t like Shows. 5: SideKick 4: Dora The Explorer 3: Fairly OddParents 2: League Of Super Evil 1: Steven Universe Future Movies. 5: The Good Dinosaur 4: Justice League Dark Apokolips War 3: Brave 2: Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 1: The Boss Baby
Toy Story 4 isn’t exactly a controversial pick, because a lot of people bashed it for assassinating its characters and going against the messages of the first three movies.
I agree with everything you’ve said except the last one (but only because I watched it 1 time and I was a small kid then, haven’t been able to find again to rewatch it as an adult)! 😂
I’m with you; Family Guy I’ve never found entertaining, Toy Story 4 should definitely have stopped at 3 (especially with how it ended…goosebumps), Despicable Me (totally understandable), Happy Feet was weird
I love Secret Of Nihm!!! I respect your opinion on it and I kind of get where you're coming from. But, animation is and always is to take us to places and do things you can't do in reality. I think that's one of the things animation is missing these days!?
Well let me see here. I might have some animated movies or series I do not like but since I like MOST of animated movies and series I gonna have a very hard time to find some I don't like. But here is some: 5: Lightyear - Technically I do like this movie...But I have a love/hate relationship with this one since this is the movie Andy was suppose to have been watching to be head over heels to get a Buzz-Toy for. Lightyear is suppose to be based on that movie Andy saw on Cinema...But the lore is just thrown out the window here. So I just feel that Lightyear is a good movie but lore-wise it doesn't make sense. 4: Puss in Boots - The Shrek-movies was amazing all of them and I feel that the Puss in Boots 2 might be cool but the first Puss in Boots movie...Wasn't really a movie I felt anything for. I do like Puss in Boots as a character but just not that movie. 3: Bambi - Like it is not a movie I do remember foundly and I just felt that I had other movies I liked better then this one but I feel like Bambi isn't A movie I would say speaks to me. I appritiate the meaning of the movie and all but just...Too boring of a movie for me. 2: 101 Dalmatians - Except the song "Cruella the Vile", this movie was just not that great in my opinion. Cruella isn't even a good villain and just want to make clothes out of fur and that is just...No... Just no...There are so many better movies with animals and aspecially dogs that are much better than this. 1: South Park - Like South Park is much MUCH worse than any other adult-animation like Family Guy. At least in some of the episodes of Family Guy you can see a kind of better tone. But South Park...Just nothing for me.
I agree with you on all these. I'm on the fence about Happy Feet because Elijah Wood, Hugo Weaving, Hugh Jackman and Robin Williams. But I agree. Plus The Secret of NIMH scared me as a kid...
Hey Brian, with you on Toy Story. It should have ended after 3. You might like an old show called Sons Of Butcher. They are a band based out of Hamilton Ontario. They had an animated show of themselves on late night teletoon. It’s Canadian made also. Was considered an adult show at the time. Pretty mild compared to family guy. Characters are Ricky and Soul Butcher, they own a meat shop and are a band also. Their Janitor Doug is their base player. You can find episode here on TH-cam if you wanna check em out.
Finally someone else who doesn’t like Family Guy! I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels that way. Plus I get why you feel that way about Toy Story 4; I’ve always felt that way about it too, I didn’t think it was necessary to make either.
For me, it would have to be The Swan Princess 2 and 3. The first Swan princess was decent, but the sequels can suck it. I know fans say the movies got bad once it went to CG, but 2 and 3 were very bad. The voice actors sound almost nothing like the original actors, the songs are cheesy and forgettable, turning Odette back onto a swan for both movies was completely unnecessary, and having both villains be Rothbart's former partners until he betrayed them, while good on pen and paper, should have been for just one of them. Otherwise, that feels like they're running out of ideas. Really, with The Swan Princess, they really should have just stopped at the first movie and let it be one decent movie.
I think as just a movie, Toy Story 4 was enjoyable, but as part of the whole story, it just made no sense for the characters. I liked Forky, but it should have ended with Toy Story 3. I'm scared to see what they're gonna do with another one!
All valid opinions! I also don’t really care for Family Guy, though it’s made me laugh before at times. I personally don’t enjoy any of the characters. No strong opinions on Toy Story 4. Looks good, but yeah, it’s a movie! I did like the first Despicable Me, just not really anything after. Haven’t seen Happy Feet, so I can’t judge. Always thought there was something uncanny about its animation. Haven’t seen Secret of NIMH either. I’ve heard it’s terrifying? Haha might have to look into it :D
Yeah I'm not a fan of Toy Story 4. Toy Story 3 had the perfect ending. We didn't need a 4th BUT I didn't mind the idea of a 4th one. I thought it would be intresting to see things from Bonnies perspective with Bonnies OG toys getting a bit more spotlight/backstory. I didn't expect Woody to be her favourite toy but Bonnie would never abadon him! She was this confident little girl in 3, then in 4 she's a shell of her former self, all the OG gang get sidelined (including Bonnies toys) in favor of new characters that just weren't that exciting and Buzz was dummed down to his Toy Story 1 self. I really liked the return of Bo. I thought maybe Bonnie would be the one to find her, patch her up and create this new persona for her and honestly I would have much preferred that direction.
This isn’t animated, but one movie that everyone else loves that I can’t stand is The Muppets Movie from 2011. It seemed like a cheap knock-off of The Country Bears which premiered in 2002.
"Kubo and the Two Strings" and "Big Hero 6." "Kubo" is absolutely stunning, and the monkey and final act are boss. However in my opinion it thinks it's so much smarter than it thinks it is while being incredibly condescending towards the audience. "Hero" is trying to be "Lion King" and failing miserably. It tries to say something about grief but outside Hiro after the funeral and the one scene where he sees Tadashi's video, it's basically just a typical superhero film. The only part that I actually went oh it's getting interesting is when Hiro tries to kill Callaghan, but it's such a small part in a muddled picture. Baymax is baby though.
1. I can't stand Family Guy either. It's not funny. 2. I'm with you on Toy Story 4. I liked a few things about it (like the bunny and duck characters. They were hilarious.), but the rest was mostly "meh." 3. Despicable Me is...okay. It's not great, but it's not terrible either. Megamind is superior in every way. 4. I've never seen Happy Feet, and I don't ever want to. Both my parents enjoyed Cars far more than Happy Feet. 5. I actually liked Secret of NIMH. Like you've said, the animation is beautiful. I guess the story makes little sense, but it's not really supposed to. It's based on a book. In some stories, magic and science are one and the same. This is one of those. Also, Secret of NIMH is BY FAR better than Chicken Little. It's also better than that train wreck Troll in Central Park, which I prefer to pretend doesn't exist.
I'll be honest... I somewhat agree with you on everything other than Toy Story 4 (I 100% agree with you on that one). I'm not a big fan of Family Guy. I only have a limited number of its seasons on DVD and only up to the season with the Simpsons crossover and only because of specific episodes from each season instead of each season in their entirety. Despicable Me 1 and 2 are the only ones I like and it's just like, not love. Happy Feet. Again, I like it, but I'm not gonna fawn over it any time soon. It's a movie I'll watch now and then and especially NOT during summer, like it is right now in Australia, since it just makes me miss the chill of winter while dealing with boiling Aussie summer heat. And Secret of NIMH? I'm repeating myself, but it's a movie I just like and will occasionally watch if the mood strikes me. And Don't even get me started on that abominable excuse for a sequel it had🤮
Okay for me toy story 4 was alright I had fun watching it but I totally agree that they should have ended with the 3rd movie. Family guy...HATE IT WITH A PASSION! 😂 Don't understand the point of it and I don't like the cursing and the meanness of it so I'm with you on that one as well. Happy feet I had fun watching until it got sad and depressing! The only thing I l really liked was of course Robin Williams! And the songs I really loved the songs. Despicable Me I had fun watching the first movie and the sequels were okay but I was never crazy about them the minions always made me laugh though also I wish that the girls would age because they're still pretty much the same in the last couple movies The secret of nimh beautiful art and colors jeremy made me laugh a lot but I also agree with what you said about that one too. Thanks for another great video can't wait to see the next! 😍
I can give you a hot take that’ll probably get me shot. I did not like WALL-E. It was the first half of the movie that killed it for me. It was so boring. By the time the second half came around where we get into space and onto the the Axiom, I was just so drained from that drawn out first half that I really couldn’t care less about the rest. I just wanted it to be done already.
You're not alone: I don't like toy story 4 either, and also think it should have ended at 3. xD; Like...what was the POINT of having Andy give them all to Bonnie, and then just have her turn around and do what she did in 4. -.-
I always wondered why you never covered family guy (i like the older seasons best) And that makes sense!!! Good on you I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME WITH HAPPY FEET I DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT IT IS SO MEAN
I feel like the only one I can see people genuinely disagree with you on is NIMH (even if I've noticed a handful of people retroactively critiquing the movie as of late). Otherwise I feel like a lot of the choices you picked are pretty justified in one way or another, so don't feel too bad about disliking them
Here are a couple movies that I don't like that everyone else seems to love, I could be wrong, could be right, either way I get the feeling that A LOT of ya'll got opinions. Leo. Basic plot, A class pet in the form of a lizard voiced by Adam Sandler gives children life lessons that helps them improve as people, in his attempts to live his life to the fullest before he dies. The concept, awesome! It's creative, it's different. The execution, personally I hate it. I’m gonna be honest, I was disappointed in the film. A lot of the jokes were just awful to me, and I DESPISE gross out humor so that didn’t help either. What was worse to me was the advice he gave to the girl who enjoyed science, “please don’t cry.” Or “Crying is annoying.” Or something like that. It’s possibly one of the worst pieces of advice someone could give to a kid. Crying is healthy, and not enough people understand that. So if you need to cry just freaking cry. I don’t know if it was supposed to be funny in a dark humor sort of way, but it’s just NOT funny to me. The Spongebob Movie Sponge Out Of Water. I don't like this movie (Despite the fact that supposedly Steven Hillenberg returned for this one), for one specific reason. I watched the trailers thinking it was a movie about Spongebob and the gang, on the surface world, fighting an evil pirate as superheroes! HOW AWESOME OF A CONCEPT IS THAT! I thought to myself. SPOILER ALERT INCOMING. It's that, for the end part, the TRAILER, the thing you watch before you watch the movie itself SPOILED THE ENDING. 80% of this film, has NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU SEE IN THE TRAILERS! And that's how I got my first taste of false advertising. I'm sorry Steven. I'm sorry nickelodeon. It ain't my cup of tea.
I can understand why dislike them, you try watching rock-a-doodle and little nemo, adventures in slumberland. Good movies that no talks about or heard of
I'm one of those people who thinks that Toy Story 3 should have been the end. It has a real THE END feel to it and Toy Story 4 feels disjointed - it's desperately trying to stretch the franchise past its natural ending point. I can't come up with five right off the bat, but one animated movie everyone else seems to love that I don't is The Land Before Time. Yes, I can appreciate the animation and the gusty move of killing Littlefoot's mother, but I think I don't love it the way other people do because I first saw it as a pre-teen. I was at precisely the wrong age to enjoy cutesy dinosaurs. Then, of course, it got more sequels than Ice Age to the point where the franchise just got tired.
I absolutely hated how Buzz Lightyear was treated in Toy Story 4 😑 His character arc wasn’t well-developed and the writers basically made him a bumbling moron who had to keep listening to his “inner voice” 🙄
One animated film I dislike but everyone else likes is the Land Before Time. Even though I'm no fan of the film's franchise it is beautifully animated, well scored, well voice acted and I'm fully aware of what happened to the the poor Judith Barsi (may she rest in peace). The reason why I dislike it is because that I'm not a fan of dinosaurs, it was made by Don Bluth who I have personal issues with (even though I actually did grow up with some of Bluth's other films), it eclipsed Oliver and Company at the time and some people say its superior to Bambi, the Fox and the Hound and The Lion King in which I politely disagree.
Absolutely hated TS4. I feel that TS3 was the perfect ending to the franchise. Never got to like Frozen. Like... ok? I don't get the message, the whole meaning behind it?? Didn't cared for Rio at all. Never liked the whole anime thing, specially Saint Seiya or however it's called. And of classic Disney... never understood Fantasia. I feel it's all over the place and says absolutely nothing.
Yea... I like his films but I heavilly disagree on this take.
@@jacksonsay37 Copper and Tod were great friends! But they had to separate because of the fact that they live different lives. I love this movie! It is heartbreaking and truthful!
I remember that, he didn’t like the film because Disney was straying too far away from the original source material, that was one of the reasons why he even started his own studio, essentially Chief was not supposed to survive the train, but Disney higher ups kept pushing to have him survive it despite the Team saying it was a bad idea to change one of the more pivotal moments of the Book so when the higher ups got their way, a bunch of people left
I think that’s why The Secret of Nimh was so dark
To an extent, I kinda see it, Disney can make really good stories but, they stray from the original source material a lot, like Jungle Book is a great film but it really doesn’t take the source material that seriously and it sorta cuts out the ending of the Book and then Hunchback, it’s a masterpiece even though it has a message that is so different from the book
I actually loved that.
I think toy story 2 is the best of the series
Also Buzz was dumbed down SOOOO much
I hate toy story 4 because of the dolls i mean they literally took away one of Woodys best things his voice box i mean come on!!!!
It should have ended after 3
@@shenran9164 or at toy story that time 4got
I love Toy Story 4 but yeah I'll admit it's not my favorite of the franchise there's 3 things I hate of it, Bonnie neglecting Woody, the gang being sidelined, and Buzz being dumb down.
I can see that
The Secret of Nimh is one film you should never overthink about, otherwise it would scare you.
For sure you're right about that
That's true
I can't stand The Secret of NIMH because it was nothing like the book.
But what I'm saying is The Secret of Nymph movies are creepy in some parts and they scare me
The sequel scarred me for life because I watched it as a child and it scared me so badly.
What the problem is with too many sequels is it's like tracing over a perfect piece of art over and over until it no longer resembles it.
That is correct. Good sequels can exist, but because in those cases it's the original source material which has expansion possibilities. Not every franchise has.
It's also about the execution itself. Sometimes a good idea can be executed superficially.
Good analogy.
I do love toy story but i completely agree with toy story 4, it wasn't necessary, toy story 3 is a PERFECT ending, it made me cry to see woody's best friend *andy* leave to college and woody saying "see you later...partner" that was perfect! >:^
I love the Toy Story movies too but I still enjoy the Toy Story 4
I 100% agree with you. Toy Story 3 was the perfect conclusion. It was unnecessary to make a 4th film. I didn't like it, to be honest.
You might hate the sequel even more
I think I’ve watched happy feet once as a child in the theaters and your take of it is spot on to how I felt.
Same
I understand what you mean by that but I love Toy Story 4 and I'm looking forward to the 5th one
@@Sorcerer-SMCbetter than constantly hating on it like Star wars sequels.
@@babecat2000 Honestly neither option is good. It’s ok to not like something, but still, just leave at that.
I'll be honest, the Happy Feet part caught me a little off guard, but I'll respect your opinion. 😌
9:42 This part made me laugh! 😄
Keep being awesome, Brian!
Yeah. They're perfect match!!
No, I'm the other way around. I have movies that I adore but others seem to hate 😂
Chicken Little
For real
Me: Raises hand in Cars 2
@Lucky7_2011 Omg, thank you! I love Cars 2! It's one of my favourite Pixar movies ever
I completly agree with you
Happy Feet and The Secret of Nimh are both childhood classics of mine!
I never liked the toy story movies so that explains why I liked 4 lol
Brian, The Secret of Nimh is a faithful adaptation of the book Mrs Brisby and the Rats of Nimh.
I like both Despicable Me and Toy Story series, but did not understand that Jessie and the others were placed aside, while Woody and Buzz were with Bo Peep in most parts of the film.
Also, I am not a fan of Family Guy, but only watched the first part of Happy Feet (I love Robin Williams), so did not understand anything about the film and the show, and never heard of The Secret of Nimh before…
in the nimh part of the video brian went all nostalgia critic rant on us XD
Funny because Secret of NIMH is one of Doug Walker's favorite movies. Wonder what his thoughts are about this video.
I sensed a struggle to avoid saying, " 'Happy Feet' left me cold! "
I have a high tolerance for obvious, dad-joke puns, so I'll take the hit.🤕
I LOVE Despicable Me, Happy Feet, the Minions movie, AND Toy Story 4. Also, have a Happy 2025, Brian!
Me too
I'm with you on Seth McFarlane projects. All the vulgarity isn't needed
His humor is you love it or hate it
TS4 is not only an unnecessary movie, but it’s also a bad movie and one of the worst Pixar movies.
“It doesn’t matter if we’re are being played with. It matters is that we’re here for Andy when he needs us”, in this case it’s Bonnie.
I see why one wouldn’t like Toy Story 4. After all Bonnie broke her promise to Andy. But I thought it was a wonderful way to end the series…and now Andrew Stanton is working on a 5th one 🤦🏼♂️
I think Despicable Me 3 literally saved the series.
@Lucky7_2011the dumbest thing about despicable me 4 to me is they have a baby yet the girls haven’t aged at all
@glicthmonkey0 Well Gru did say in 3 that Margo "will always be 12"
The animated film(s) I hate the most that everyone else seems to like are the Trolls films.
Btw, Secret of NIMH was kind of a big surprise (although you're not the ONLY youtuber who disagrees with the consensus that it's one of the greatest films in animation), the rest weren't as much of a surprise though cause I know there are plenty of people who don't like those or find them overrated or both, and I can see why and honestly I don't LOVE them per se, but I casually like them (maybe except for the first few seasons of Family Guy cause I still personally found it funny at the start at least)
And I also admit, while I never hated it per se, it also took me a while to really get what The Secret of NIMH was going for, I was actually introduced to it by the Nostalgia Critic (yes, yes, I know he's aged poorly and he's not very reliable as an actual critic but hear me out) and it's one of the very few times today that I took his critiquing a bit more seriously, cause his love for the film (or most of the other films he loves for that matter) felt more believable and made sense to me as opposed to a lot of his criticisms.
I sadly can’t think of any animated film that I hate or despise because I generally like most of those kind of movies.
To me, it seemed like they made Toy Story 4 just because the franchise is so popular, so maybe making money was the driving factor-but I don't know that for sure. My favorite part about Despicable Me is the minions. I would like to have minions working for me and doing all my chores.
I hate Toy Story 4 for its new annoying characters.
Same. They don't land for me.
Happy New Year 2025, Brian. And this year, this will be Walt Disney's Disney Pixar 30th Anniversary, Porky Pig's 90th Anniversary, and more.
We need new franchises and new ideas
People say this but the new idea movies/shows don’t noticed 😭
OH MY GOD, YES. I absolutely don't understand the hype around the show, either. It's WAYYY too overrated.
I think it's a good show, but I personally don't watch it because it's just not my thing
Personally, I love Toy Story 4 and Despicable Me/Minions. But I agree with you about The Secret of NIMH, Happy Feet, and Family Guy.
Happy new year Brian hall and everyone. ❤
@ Tbh, I’m kinda on the flip side when it comes to Luca.😅 It’s okay, just not my favorite fish out of water story.
Really enjoy your vibe, this is so refreshing. Keep it up!
You’re not alone buddy I am not a big fan of Toy Story 4 either in fact I am so against that movie so much that I label it as none cannon and just never happened
I cannot STAND Toy Story 4.
Much like Wreck It Ralph 2, it just leaves me saying, "If that's the path you're taking, then what was the point of the previous film then?"
The fact that Woody left the others when they said they'd be together forever just rubs me the wrong way and it's one of the many reasons I hate this film
I honestly liked Happy Feet two more cause it was way more funnier and Erik is adorable, and bride of light is such a wonderful song, every other song is jukebox musical but the sequel has an original song, also under pressure as free penguins was so epic and satisfying
Though I don't really like that the humans tried to help but decided to just abandon the penguins
In hindsight that is unintentional dark comedy
Also the baby walruses are so adorable they're voiced by little Australian kids and their accents omg
I don't know if you seen sequel but I hope you give it a try maybe you will like it
I bet you will enjoy the krill Bill and Will
I didn't like Happy Feet either. You're not alone there. I went to see it because everyone else said it was amazing, but I was a bit, "Meh...wait a second, what happened in this movie again?" I completely forgot it after I saw it.
The ONLY REASON Toy Story 4 was created is to be a CASH GRAB. Toy Story 3 was the PERFECT ENDING for the franchise
Maybe but it was still a good movie
Pixar always makes sequels because they feel they have a good story for it. It’s not all about the money. Cars 2 got greenlit because it was something Lasseter really cared about; the merch money was merely the impetus to justify making the film.
Happy friday afternoon, Brian, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
Here are 5 Shows/Movies that I myself don’t like
Shows.
5: SideKick
4: Dora The Explorer
3: Fairly OddParents
2: League Of Super Evil
1: Steven Universe Future
Movies.
5: The Good Dinosaur
4: Justice League Dark Apokolips War
3: Brave
2: Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
1: The Boss Baby
How can you hate family guy? Eh, that’s fine cuz it’s your opinion. But at least we both hate Toy Story 4 and Happy Feet.
He hates it because he's soft
I 100% agree with you on Toy Story 4. The series definitely should've ended with 3.
What are those other adult animated shows that you ended up enjoying that surprised you?
I love Secret Of Nihm!!! I respect your opinion on it and I kind of get where you're coming from. But, animation is and always is to take us to places and do things you can't do in reality. I think that's one of the things animation is missing these days!?
Well let me see here. I might have some animated movies or series I do not like but since I like MOST of animated movies and series I gonna have a very hard time to find some I don't like. But here is some:
5: Lightyear - Technically I do like this movie...But I have a love/hate relationship with this one since this is the movie Andy was suppose to have been watching to be head over heels to get a Buzz-Toy for.
I agree with you Brian. The message aside, I think Toy Story 4 has no reason to exist.
The worst thing I hated about Toy Story 4 was when they had new characters and for despicable me 3 I think they ruined it with the brother
I think as just a movie, Toy Story 4 was enjoyable, but as part of the whole story, it just made no sense for the characters. I liked Forky, but it should have ended with Toy Story 3. I'm scared to see what they're gonna do with another one!
You’ve Already Uploaded This On Your Second Channel!!!
"Kubo and the Two Strings" and "Big Hero 6."
"Kubo" is absolutely stunning, and the monkey and final act are boss.
They were hilarious.), but the rest was mostly "meh."
Movies/shows that I don't like but people love
1. The Patrick star show
2. Up
3 bugs life
4 toy story 2
5 Shrek
I'm so glad you hate Toy Story 4 too, phew rofl.
Despicable Me I had fun watching the first movie and the sequels were okay but I was never crazy about them the minions always made me laugh though also I wish that the girls would age because they're still pretty much the same in the last couple movies
The secret of nimh beautiful art and colors jeremy made me laugh a lot but I also agree with what you said about that one too.
I 100% agree with you on Toy Story 4! I think they made Buzz look stupid.
You're not alone: I don't like toy story 4 either, and also think it should have ended at 3. xD; Like...what was the POINT of having Andy give them all to Bonnie, and then just have her turn around and do what she did in 4. -.-
I also hate family guy and I also thought Toy Story 4 was unnecessary. I liked the first Despicable me but I also don't like the sequels.
Happy Feet was cute but not one I run to saying “ I HAVE TO WATCH HAPPY FEET”
Totally with you on Family Guy, the Despicable Me movies, and Happy Feet
I always wondered why you never covered family guy (i like the older seasons best) And that makes sense!!! Good on you
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME WITH HAPPY FEET I DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT IT IS SO MEAN
Good movies that no talks about or heard of
Very well said 😊
I'm one of those people who thinks that Toy Story 3 should have been the end.
Really cool vid, love how you do things.
Is this kind of a reupload or was this recent?
Toy Story 4, besides being unneeded, also creates more overthinking: Is everything in this universe one set of googly eyes away from sentience?!?
It’s the power of love that brings toys to life, as seen in Kingdom Hearts 3.
