- This John C. Allen designed double out and back wooden coaster was built by PTC (Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters) in 1966 and stands 75 feet tall with a top speed of 50 mph. It was severely damaged by Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and had to be rebuilt before re-opening in 1992. Fun CoasterForce Fact - This was East Coast(er) General's first wooden coaster when he rode it as a 7-year-old.

I was just there last Saturday and rode this for the 1st time, I rode it twice in a row! All 4 drops were high thrill! Came out of my seat on every hill😂

This is one of my favorite roller coasters! Atmosphere, view and fun! If you get a chance to sit in the very back row, you'll get a whole new rid!

I went to myrtle beach and my parents suprised me and my two cousins by taking us to Family Kingdom and I have been to Disney World and Universal Studios, so I was excited to do this and the Log Flume which was cool as well, but one of my cousins has never been to a theme park/carnival, so it was fun to ride with him. My other cousin has been to Universal Studios as well, so he enjoyed it as well. This ride was amazing. No complaints because there is no line and it is a cool coaster.

I go here every summer. I love this place. I live in North Myrtle.
My whole family wants to live in Myrtle Beach we go there every year and stay in Cherry Grove for 10 days in August we wish we could go there everyday if we won the lottery! 😂

Please hold on tight! U get major airtime on the 1st drop, you hop up out of your seat on all the drops to be honest. It's scary but fun.
It’s not that fun (in my opinion), I hated it the drops were wayyyyy too steep and hurted me I specifically said “I want off”

Been on this ride yesterday, its not that bad. Just remember to void each car’s back rows because it gets real rough :P
This thing is really underrated the only relatively small issue is that it isn't the smoothest but what do you expect from a Vintage woody but the ejector airtime is crazy on this thing you are flying out of your seat I would definitely recommend this rollercoaster if your in the Myrtle Beach area
The good ole Swampfox... The Pavilion( few miles away) had a wooden coaster called the Hurricane and it was rough as hell.. The Pavilion was demolished years ago, now it's pretty much an empty field...:( there is a zip line in its place but that's it..
Yes, I rode the Hurricane!!! It was the roughest rollercoaster I've ever ridden!!! And I have ridden many coasters. I had a headache for 2 or 3 days!!! Probably gave me a concussion!!! Waaaay too rough!!! The Blue and White Corkscrew that used to be there was fun!!! I hate that they shut down the Myrtle Beach Pavilion & Amusement Park! 😢😢😢
I have so many fond memories there. Memories with friends who are no longer with us! Wish I could go back there and reminisce, and watch the younger generation have fun like we used to! Back when we didn't have a care in the world!!! Now it's just a barren field with a crappy zip line!!!! The Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park was a classic!!! Was like something out if the movies!!! Something very special about the sites, sounds, and smells of an amusement park by the sea!!! So thankful I was lucky enough to enjoy it!!!

Ive been on This and its a Blast. The Chain Pulling you Up... It Reminds me of Playland Rye Beach NY I sat in The Last Seat and Loved Whipping Around I cant wait to Go back to MB and ride Again

The Myrtle Beach Pavilion and Hard Rock Park have come and gone but this park isn't leaving Myrtle Beach any time soon.
I love this ride. Every July me and my family go to myrtle beach the week of the 4th and I just haft to ride this before I leave.

I just rode this ride about an hour ago. The roughest roller coaster ive ever been on. I almost snapped my damn neck towards the end. I need a neck brace!

Rough as absolute hell rougher than Great American Scream Machine at SFoG, but it still had some amazing airtime.
Ejector airtime is right, I flew out of my seat several times. Don't let the small size fool you, this thing packs a punch.

I couldn’t agree more, but the only flaw is that if you not properly strapped in, you feel like you get an uppercut to the stomach. But besides that, it’s a really great ride!

it didn't seem that bad but when i saw that drop coming in my mind i was like " oh sh*t ! "

This was my first coaster i love it
I'm surprised to see they still have the original braking system on this ride. When I worked at Elitch Gardens (back in the 80's) as an Operator on Mister Twister, we had a sudden downpour of rain and those "brakes" got wet and the incoming coaster just slid right on through the station until it got to the chain hill. I believe the newer (and inferior) "Twister Two" has the clamp-style brakes...
That's why a lot of those skid brakes got replaced with the newer type, but even those are prone to sliding if the brakes/trains get wet enough. (ed.-typo)
Did this one always stop, then ooze into the platform? I don't remember that, but it's been a long time since I've been there.

i remember being about 7 and me and my mom got in line for this, the trees covered that huge drop and the lady at the queue looked at me and asked “are you sure she wants to ride this?” my mom said yes thinking the lady was crazy bc we only has the smaller hills i remember when we turned that corner we looked at each other with instant regret

On the front seat it’s really good however riding this in the back seat hurt my legs a lot. So my suggestion is to ride in the front seat and not the back, and if you want airtime, you would still get pretty decent airtime on the front seat.
for the 2016 season they should realy retrack the ride or make it an rmc to get more visistors
All I can say is that if you go on this, don’t go in the back seats because it is VERY bumpy there. The front seat is way less bumpier and overall this ride is really scary :p
My mom has a bad back. After the first drop I looked at her like dang... relax. She was already crying from pain

i didn't like this roller coaster personally, because my butt comes off the seat and feels like i'm about to fly out! maybe because i'm tiny but its kinda scary, i know its safe but it don't feel like it. so hear is for the people who does not like those kind of roller coasters. sorry if i offended anybody.
Something Channel it's alright to feel that way, but many Coaster Enthusiasts call that airtime, and they really love it.
