My theory is that Asta's father is a normal person. However, when Lichita was cursed, he died and possibly several others which made her ostracized. Asta's condition of having no magic is probably as a side effect of Lichita's condition. Like the witch queen stated, Asta is a by product of a sudden mutation. There is a high possibility that Lichita was cursed during pregnancy and that is also the cause of the sudden mutation. Asta survived because he has no magic and Lichita's curse absorbs mana & life force. The condition of sucking life force is probably related to mana for example, Lichita can only suck life force when it is combined with mana and this answers why liebe is not affected by it.

I think the most likely explanation is his mom fell for a man that was born with no mana or had a genetic defect that allowed him to be close with best mom. Not some race that wasn't human. The idea of asta just being a normal human with no hybrid DNA will solidify the concept of him and yuno being of complete opposites and becoming brothers non the less. However, the idea of Asta being an angel/god hybrid would push the story into a new perspective. ABD also hinted at the notion that there are other races and the angel race could fall into asta's main life story. For example, the angel race did not approve of astas father and astas mother's relationship and that could be the reason she has a cursed body that drains life force. But that's just my thoughts on that. I'm still sticking with the idea of Asta just being born a mana-less human tell us, the readers that anyone could be anything no matter how unfortunate we believe ourselves to. With hard work and the right people by our sides we can become who we are meant to be.

This could explain why Asta wasn't killed, because, in a way, he is genetically 50% his mother and was probably being formed while the curse was cast on her.
Asta is half dwarf. That would explain his massive strength, height, and it is a different breed of being that may be unaffected by his mother’s body. Dwarfs also generally have much longer life spans than humans, so even if affected by his mom, it could be to a lot less severity.

This video is much in line with my own theory. I agree that Asta's father, in the grand scheme of things, was/is insignificant. However, I think he's just significant enough to have mattered to those around him. Like Asta, I believe he had the dreams to become the Wizard King. I like to speculate that he was a low ranking magic knight, at best. As such, I believe that Asta's father was some nobody mage who possessed a three leaf grimoire containing sword magic. Why? Because Asta has had an uncanny talent for swordsmanship and had Asta not been born with the mutation that crippled him in a magic-dominant world, the lineage of magic attributes would reveal whether Asta gained Licita's sealing magic (which may imply a lineage that can be traced back to Secre's family) or, as we learned from Fanzell's analysis of Asta's quick learning capabilities, a sword mage. Asta, who had nothing, seemed to possess a latent talent for swordsmanship. His ability to adapt and grow, physically, is unprecedented and is a perfect complement to his hardcore work ethic. He learns best by observing those who utilize martial skills (as one is forced to in his situation) and seems to quickly develop abilities that would, normally, take many months of training. Hence is why I suspect that Asta would have been born with a sword magic had fate not been cruel. More so, I suspect that Asta was born with uncanny luck and may even possess a four leaf grimoire like Yuno. Had destiny been kind, at any rate. But that's neither here nor there. What I am saying is that sword magic would have been a perfect fit for Asta due to his innate abilities that he has already displayed alongside his hard work. If we take these talents as hereditary, then we can properly suspect that his father was a sword-oriented mage. If not a low ranking magic knight, who could protect Licita from a worse fate than exile, then perhaps an errant ne'er-do-well with a heart of gold.
Even if they said that asta was hybrid to explain his higher than average strength limit That in no way cheapens his achievements pause he still put in years upon years of hard training, still experienced a lot of bullsh*t prejudice and still had his fair share of loses.

This led to her becoming ostracized by the village and forcing her to move away from others. Then she finds out she’s pregnant and has to work through her grief of killing Asta’s dad while worrying about if she can even safely have her son. Makes for a tragic back story and explains some of her motivations as well. 🤷🏾♂️

My theory is that Asta's father is a normal person. However, when Lichita was cursed, he died and possibly several others which made her ostracized. Asta's condition of having no magic is probably as a side effect of Lichita's condition. Like the witch queen stated, Asta is a by product of a sudden mutation. There is a high possibility that Lichita was cursed during pregnancy and that is also the cause of the sudden mutation. Asta survived because he has no magic and Lichita's curse absorbs mana & life force. The condition of sucking life force is probably related to mana for example, Lichita can only suck life force when it is combined with mana and this answers why liebe is not affected by it.
You may be right about the father. I wonder why Licita left Asta at church. Asta was safe with her normally. Or maybe she didn’t take the risk with her son.

I never liked the Asta being half devil speculation. Tabata has been doing a good job at keeping Asts as a nobody and I hope he doesn't change that
I think the most likely explanation is his mom fell for a man that was born with no mana or had a genetic defect that allowed him to be close with best mom. Not some race that wasn't human. If we go by genetics we know that mutations and birth defects are etched tightly in DNA and don't always appear.

First of all, "special" is an ambiguous term. It depends on what you consider "special". If you consider demon/angel "special", then I agree with you that it will destroy all his hard work. But if you think he was a normal human being, then I have to disagree with you as this concept leaves plot holes.

The idea of asta just being a normal human with no hybrid DNA will solidify the concept of him and yuno being of complete opposites and becoming brothers non the less.
However, the idea of Asta being an angel/god hybrid would push the story into a new perspective.
ABD also hinted at the notion that there are other races and the angel race could fall into asta's main life story.
For example, the angel race did not approve of astas father and astas mother's relationship and that could be the reason she has a cursed body that drains life force.
But that's just my thoughts on that.
I'm still sticking with the idea of Asta just being born a mana-less human tell us, the readers that anyone could be anything no matter how unfortunate we believe ourselves to. With hard work and the right people by our sides we can become who we are meant to be.

Black clover is literally written so well to keep us thinking of new/endless possibilities. Literally so many unanswered questions but unlike most anime’s this is actually helping make Black Clover entertaining. For me AoT is very annoying to watch due to unanswered questions.

what if Asta's mother banged a random noble and when the results of their deeds got evident, and she got pregnant, they cursed her and isolated her. This could explain why Asta wasn't killed, because, in a way, he is genetically 50% his mother and was probably being formed while the curse was cast on her.

Asta is half dwarf. That would explain his massive strength, height, and it is a different breed of being that may be unaffected by his mother’s body. Dwarfs also generally have much longer life spans than humans, so even if affected by his mom, it could be to a lot less severity.
That could be true but I think it is because Asta pushed his body too much from such a young age which is what gave him strength but stunted his growth. Something like this was mentioned about the Knight Captain with flame magic so it could be a similar situation for Asta

This video is much in line with my own theory. I agree that Asta's father, in the grand scheme of things, was/is insignificant. However, I think he's just significant enough to have mattered to those around him. Like Asta, I believe he had the dreams to become the Wizard King. I like to speculate that he was a low ranking magic knight, at best. As such, I believe that Asta's father was some nobody mage who possessed a three leaf grimoire containing sword magic. Why? Because Asta has had an uncanny talent for swordsmanship and had Asta not been born with the mutation that crippled him in a magic-dominant world, the lineage of magic attributes would reveal whether Asta gained Licita's sealing magic (which may imply a lineage that can be traced back to Secre's family) or, as we learned from Fanzell's analysis of Asta's quick learning capabilities, a sword mage.
Asta, who had nothing, seemed to possess a latent talent for swordsmanship. His ability to adapt and grow, physically, is unprecedented and is a perfect complement to his hardcore work ethic. He learns best by observing those who utilize martial skills (as one is forced to in his situation) and seems to quickly develop abilities that would, normally, take many months of training.
Hence is why I suspect that Asta would have been born with a sword magic had fate not been cruel. More so, I suspect that Asta was born with uncanny luck and may even possess a four leaf grimoire like Yuno. Had destiny been kind, at any rate.
But that's neither here nor there. What I am saying is that sword magic would have been a perfect fit for Asta due to his innate abilities that he has already displayed alongside his hard work. If we take these talents as hereditary, then we can properly suspect that his father was a sword-oriented mage. If not a low ranking magic knight, who could protect Licita from a worse fate than exile, then perhaps an errant ne'er-do-well with a heart of gold.

Finished reading Chainsaw Man and Licita’s curse reminds me a lot of the Angel devil’s power of absorbing life force and convert it to weapons
I always wonder who he is. I guess he died after getting it on with Asta's mother because you know, she absolves magic.
What if Asta’s mom got pregnant with Asta before the condition that gave her her unique body was met? Then the condition was met (being cursed, her magic power matured to this naturally, maybe even her pregnancy triggered this reaction with her) and her body killed his dad. This led to her becoming ostracized by the village and forcing her to move away from others. Then she finds out she’s pregnant and has to work through her grief of killing Asta’s dad while worrying about if she can even safely have her son.
Makes for a tragic back story and explains some of her motivations as well. 🤷🏾♂️
