It took 8 years of practicing and with the last 2 being practicing fingerstyle to learn just a handful of Sungha's songs. Obviously, I can't and probably never will be able to have such a clear and bright sound as he does. He inspires me to keep practicing, yet at the same time, I want to just quit because of him T^T.
the kid's a prodigy... just to remind you folks bout this one... regardless of whether or not you achieve this kind of skills, doesn't matter if you can learn them quickly or slowly, and even if you your playing style isn't that well embellished as long as you play with passion, good music will always emerge. ^_^ v

Now I am 50 and have moved to the UK. Bought myself a guitar last week to start learning. I am really passionate about music. +Always-Stay-Positive my uncle had the same experience as yours growing up with him made me realize that our generation had more options to learn but then again today's music has it's deep roots in your generation... cheers for your passion!

In Africa, even nowadays, the kids born there have no opportunity. It is not actually about generations, it is about developing vs first world. Look at someone like Bob Dylan, I bought one of his music books which was written ages ago. You cant even find such books elsewhere. Well, I am glad I am in the UK now and making the most of it, especially as I have no family I can spend all the time for self-development and career. That is life... making the best of it. I hope when I retire I can introduce music in a village school in Africa. That is my was of doing charity, and not giving away money. It is about making them aware of other skills.
