I am no professional, so not an authority on the field, but she’s for me the most magical to watch of all I have seen in 30 years. I am amazed by so much talent.
I love the Russian skaters because they don't have flashy, ugly pop music, but they use the kind of music that touches the soul. This is why I love Yulia Lipnitskaya and Medvedeva. They have really beautiful performances! (And amazing talent)

Evgenia Medvedeva is a trur artist. Her skating is poetry. We are yet to see an artist who has her expressive power. She does the jumps but what matters more is just how she waves her hands the way her 'competitors' can't. Poetry.
It’s a shame that this video gets this much hate. No, she should not have broken Yuna’s record. Yes, she has a flutz. Yes, her components were over scored. But she is a skater with many wonderful qualities who would still be a very decorated skater even without the over scoring.

I've been watching skating since the 88 Olympics and this is top three best performance I've ever seen. I remember watching this and thinking she was going to be better than michelle Quan. She still could be.

People who don’t know anything about technical side of this sport will take whatever Johnny and Tara say here as the truth and that’s where FS in America came to right now. They are delibaretely creating this hype for the skaters to make the sport gain popularity and it’s the skaters who get the biggest harm from this. Look at Zhenya’s happiness, she really did believe that she was flawless and her scores were deserved. And both the judges and the media let her believe she was the best skater ever. I’m so proud of her for admitting her flaws and taking a step forward to improve herself despite the hate she’s been constantly getting.
@dh952 Couldn’t agree more about Alysa Liu. What is the point in letting her attempt those difficult jumps with such poor technique and obvious URs when she’s not even junior yet? I’m really worried about all these girls who are being turned into jump machines at such a young age. I’m afraid they will either have to retire very soon bc of injury or their careers will have peaked after they hit puberty bc they won’t be able to jump those quads anymore. And no one seems to care about them except for fans. The fact that they are carrying the ladies field further by increasing difficulty is enough to ignore the future of these young ladies because they have to keep the sports relevant, and it’s only possible by overhyping certain skaters. I pray they can stay healthy and are not forced to retire before they achieve their goals.
@dh952 Well Tursynbaeva apparently has a naturally small body which helps her situation. But I see where you’re coming from. Trusova seems more likely to keep the quads than other Russian girls but it’s too early to say anything yet. Let’s hope for the best for all of them.

I’d say go for it anyway. It would be bad if you hurt your foot, but for the butt and knees you can buy pads. I don’t know much about skating but hopefully you won’t hurt your foot or ankle as long as you don’t do difficult jumps.

I've always been told that Russian figure skaters have to skate to Russian composers if it's not the free skate. I'm not sure it's true but Medvedeva killed it
RIGZON what he meant was that the lutz had an inside edge making it a cheated lutz. This is called a flutz and is not an official technical element but a common mistake made by many figure skaters while doing the lutz. This should warrant a technical deduction from the judges. Beautiful program nonetheless

Yes, her mom passed away during the 2018 Olympics I think. Her dad died a while back.

I wish I could learn how to be a figure skater but it’s scary since you can get badly injured
