Bro, 3 years later your video is still helping the poor unfortunate souls that deal with the terror of a printer in crash, burn, dumpster status. Thanks man, greatly appreciated!
Dude I bought mine 11 years ago for grad school. And yes it is indeed a workhorse. Just moved, it got banged up, and I thought it was dead...but this saved it. Thanks _/\_
Unpacked my 2270DW after movers had it, and that little gear was offset, thanks No matter how much you wrap stuff, the internals move during shipping. You win my internet today...
My printer has been "broken" for over a month and I haven't had time to look it. Your video "fixed" it and now my 2270WD workhorse (I agree with many others about how amazing this printer has been over the years) is back working perfectly. I can't thank you enough.
Thanks so much. A friend of mine gave me this printer brand-new because she couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I was grateful to receive. A simple TH-cam search brought me to you and now I have a brand-new working printer for my home office.
Super cool of you to post this video. Was going crazy trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with a printer I have used for 8 years with no issues. I was about to toss it when I finally went to Google and found your video. #lifesaver!
I am the least techie person in the world, but thanks to you I fixed my printer. Same exact issue you had. It makes me think of all the printers that get put in the trash when a simple fix was all it needed. It was almost me, I went online browsing for new printers before I saw this video!
You solved our problem today! It took us 2 tries and then we got it right! So helpful! We were about to order a new printer. Also called Brother tech support line and they wanted to charge us $150 for a new "driver". That wan't even the issue! Thank you!
Oh my goodness, I was about to give up on this printer when I came across your video. Same problem and your wonderful tips fixed it, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER! I needed to print some important papers for days and thought I needed to get a new printer. Thank you for saving me so much money and time
Thank you so much for this extremely helpful video. I had become so frustrated that I couldn't get my printer to work and thought it was a goner after 10.5 years of great service. Following the easy directions in your video, my printer is working again.
I have had this printer for years and I love it, little beast. I didn't use it the last few years but decided to take a part time office I use and it wouldn't print. I was ready to cry. I tried this video once and couldn't get it fixed, probably because I have no patience. Tried again today fixed in 5 minutes
You're a champ! This was exactly what I needed. Looks like it's a failure point after 8-10 yrs of working. This printer is amazing and glad I don't have to replace it. Thank you!!
Fantastic. Saved me throwing the printer out to just buy a new one. luckily my fix was super easy and just need to move the dislodged tab back but it is great to see you go over the other options including the part required if it gets more broken. Great work with the video!
Amazing! Totally love this printer for kids coloring sheets and papers for my classes in university. In my case the clip that broke made it dislodge all the time. I ended up using a tiny paper clip and bending it in such way it retains the white piece from dislodging again. its back to work and running like a charm. Thanks for this video.
fantastic! what a simple solution. My machine's actuator was pushed out of place because using recycled paper a few times it had caught on staples that were not removed or missed before loading in the paper tray. Thank you.
Thank you so much! and if anyone needs the factory reset afterward 1. Open up top front panel. 2. Turn on power switch WHILE holding green GO button. 3. Three lights should be lit, let go of the GO button. 4. Press GO button 10 times in succession. 5. Close cover. 6. Press GO one last time.
Thank you very much. I was able to fix mine. Just spent 50 on a new cartridge and thought that was the problem but nooooo. Anyways I had to take the spindle off to see what I was doing to place the loose piece. I wasn't sure of the exact placement of it and didn't want to make matters worse. You saved me $$. Thanks again!
Thank you! I had the exact same problem since I moved. The little plastic was dislocated while the printer was moved in boxes. I was almost going to throw it away before I saw your video. You video saved it with a quick and easy fix of 5min.
Thank you very much for sharing this video-it was very helpful! However, one point is confusing: everyone seems to suggest that the issue is fully resolved, but if that white plastic piece is shifting, it means the lip that originally held it in place is broken. The steps shown here only provide a temporary solution. After a few pulls of the paper tray, the piece shifts again, requiring further adjustments. To permanently fix the problem, you need to lock it in place. In my case, I removed the motor (the one with the blue wires, no need to disconnect the wires), and pressed a properly-sized washer(I actually used a socket for a snap fastener from a sewing kit) onto the rod where the white plastic piece sits. I also used epoxy glue on top to secure it. This keeps the white plastic piece in place while still allowing it to rotate around the rod when the paper tray is inserted. Sorry, it's hard to explain in text. Also, regarding disassembly, the video doesn't show that the back door should be opened to get easy access to the hinge, after this part is unlocked the bottom lip removes easily (I was struggling with it a bit). Good luck.
thanks bro you've just provided an antidote as the printer have nearly driven me crazy but your video have saved the situation as mine is fixed now once again thank you
Awesome, bro! That was the issue. Since the little tab that slides in the curved track broke, I assumed that it might slip out again, so I just wedged something behind the white clip to keep it depressed. I'll just have to watch periodically for low paper. Thanks man!
Thank you so much! This saved me a lot of trouble. I didn't even need to remove the back half of the panel to poke the little plastic piece back into place.
I couldn't get the cover off at the back and ended up cracking it, but no matter - your fix worked and my trusty HP 2270DW lives to see another day (or months, or years!) in the home office. Thanks, Eric! 👍👍
Thank you so much .After being stuck for a whole day, I have managed to get it done ALL BY MYSELF .Thanks so much and next time you are in Africa, come for a glass of wine. Mercs Cyber
Thank you, Eric. I managed to, at least temporarily, fix the issue. I have the identical printer in your video. It's been a great little printer! (I didn't actually have to remove either of the side pieces and not sure exactly what was wrong but I just kind of jiggled that little piece you mentioned that might have been dislodged. For now, we are back in business. Thank you for your video help!
Thanks! That worked, but not how I expected. The little white plastic was where it was supposed to be. But the second gear was deep inside the machine, so I pushed the white plastic forward and the two gears engaged. Unfortunately, the white plastic disappeared. How, I don't know. It's probably in the printer somewhere. But the two gears have remained engaged nonetheless, so now it's working! Thanks for the video.
it worked! please be careful trying this don't pull up on that little piece i made it come out of place but managed to wiggle it back in and push it down in the right place.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I found that the white piece has a nub that is supposed to hold it in a slot and that broke off. It is a tiny piece smaller than a lady bug. So I put it back in place and am holding it with a small binder clip. The side won't go back on with the binder clip, but the printer does work.
I hereby add my thanks for your to-the-point video which solved my printer's problem too. I so wish that manufacturers of printers published a list of all the sensors and interlocks in their printers, and which error or indicator light each one corresponds to. Instead, we're just left in the dark with a printer that knows what the problem is, but won't tell us.
Hi thanks for all you do. Question my Rollo printer continues to print my previous label until I turn it off after printing each label. I tried holding the lighted button to reset that is not working any other suggestions? Thank you
So, once this problem happens and it is addressed and fixed, would it be better to replace this part or is this just a handling and positioning problem?
I didn't need to follow the entire set of instructions. As soon as I popped the first side panel out, I was able to reach that white part that had become dislodged. I didn't really need to even remove the entire panel altogether. Just an inch is enough to jam your finger down and put it back in place. Thanks for the suggestion!
I tried all you suggested in your video. It picks up paper now but prints blank pages. New toner cartridge is installed and will only print the printer settings but no other documents or PDF files. No paper jams either and the red error light stays on but if I unplug every time I get the green light and may print the last of three pages but not the others. I reinstalled the software too. HELP!!!
Hi, took my printer cover apart just like the video, found broken white tab, put a pierce of hard candy (Jolly Rancher) to keep the lever "ON". Printer works like a champ now, its not stupid if it works..lol..
Bro, 3 years later your video is still helping the poor unfortunate souls that deal with the terror of a printer in crash, burn, dumpster status. Thanks man, greatly appreciated!
Just saved me this morning as well - such a simple fix for a puzzling issue!
Can't tell you how many perfectly good printers we've probably tossed over the years thinking they were dead. Thanks for this!
I bought this workhorse 10 years ago for graduate school. Today, solid orange. Thanks to you, it's back in service after a decade of great work.
Same here. This is the very first time I had issues with it, ever. Fixed in 2 minutes.

Hello there, I remember there was a specific name for that white piece. Does anyone know what that is?
So, once this problem happens and it is addressed and fixed, would it be better to replace this part or is this just a handling and positioning problem?
Saved me a lot of frustration. Thanks so much!!
Hell yes. Worked like a charm. Printer got tossed around during a move.
