Excellent video. Very clear, detailed step-by-step instructions. No annoying music, no camera shaking around, and you were very understandable. The way a how-to video should be done. Also, thank you so much for posting this. It kept me from having to buy a new printer.

Thank you! Besides helping me to fix my printer (ok, I haven't done it yet, but I am hopeful) this should be required viewing for anyone recording a how-to video. Clear, concise descriptions, a voice that can be understood, no music drowning out the narrative, with a clear view of the parts and pieces throughout. A master class in how to do a "how to do"!

Thanks for the help. I followed the instructions and the printer works again. The biggest problem was getting side off. 2270DW. I never was able to find clear visuals of the clips etc. I did it all from beginning to end. Truly appreciated.

You've saved another one from the junk yard! MFC-7460DN - One thing to add: before being able to get the "head" seated behind the cam, FIRST I had to get the piece fully seated on the bottom part, where the "foot" had to be flexed a bit in order to articulate with the slot in the machine. Once I got that inserted, it was easy to get the head easily flexed behind them cam (without the "foot" inserted, the "head" kept popping out from the cam). Thank you so much! $8 for the part (and half an hour) saved my printer (and me from having to replace it entirely). CHEERS !!!

This worked for my 11 year old MFC-7360N. Getting the replacement part properly seated was the trickiest part for me. Your video was invaluable: Excellent camera work and excellent verbal commentary. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated.

I got a $10 2270DW today with this problem. Followed the video with success. My cam lever was dislodged and not broken. Turns out my drum is near 100% but toner is around 20%. There was a NIB OEM drum and 2 Quill re-man toners for another $20 so I am all set. Saved a small bundle and kept a good printer out of the landfill. Thanks!

Well done on a very clear explanation of "the white lever", and how it slides out of position if the "tooth" gets broken. Probably most people will buy a replacement part in this case. However, on my HL2270DW I found I was able to form a stop on the shaft that holds the lever. I slipped an M4 nut over the end of the shaft, which leaves exposed a small amount of the shaft. I then used a soldering iron to melt the shaft inside the nut to hold it in place.

Great instructions. I worked for Xerox for 25 yrs. as a technical rep. I serviced the 914, 813, 4000 series copiers. It was easy for me to follow your instructions. I did notice that the cam may have had some lube on it. I think that a dab of some with lithium grease or vaseline couldn't hurt.
    Thanks, I can't kill this MFC-7860DW.

You're a freaking genius! I was about to give up on my over 10 year old MFC-7360n and was preparing to purchase a replacement. Then I watched the first part of your video, saw the white tab was dislodged on my printer. I used a hemostat to move it back into position, the error went away and I was able to print. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!

Thank you so much for saving me from having to buy a replacement printer!!! I tried everything, including troubleshooting with Brother and looking at other videos, before finding this one. This is the ONLY one that solved the problem. The directions are clear and easy to follow. The trickiest part was getting the piece to sit where it should (such that both the square and the handle are in place). It had to be pushed further down than I initially thought.

Thank you. AGAIN. This video fixed my problem a couple of years ago. I didn't replace the part - just shoved it back into place. Today, after a couple of years of it working fine, the same problem happened again. I couldn't remember the exact details so looked up this video again - shoved it over again and now I'm printing okay again. This time I've going to purchase the part and replace it.

Thank you so much for going through the effort of making this video, and making it so detailed. I was about to give up on my old printer that would have been more expensive to fix than it is worth. But I really didn't like the idea of having to get rid of a printer that up to a certain point served me without ever having any issues. That point was a house move as well, so I was pretty sure, something mechanical must have been going on. I just needed to nudge that little white plastic thing back into place and now it's working again! And if it ever breaks off completely, I know where to turn to to fix it again. Thank you for allowing me to not only save our wallet but also reduce waste that would have been completely unnecessary!

Thank you so much, exactly what I needed to know to fix my Brother HL2270DW printer. The tiny plastic nub was broken and barely hanging on. Bought a replacement part from Amazon for about $7 and fixed it!!!
Only detail for the 2270, there is a retainer tab on the bottom of the side panel in exactly the middle that needs to be released by wedging that point downward on the side cover.

This was a great video, that spawned a fix at my end. One suggestion; between 7:30 and 8:00 of the video, perhaps mention that the tag ('tooth') needs to be inserted through the crescent-shaped guide in order to be fully seated properly. As soon as I saw that, everything was 'singing & dancing'. Thanks again!

Awesome job filming and explaining, thank you very much, you helped me save my precious printer! ONLY thing I would add is, at 7:43, you slide the part underneath the cam gear and say "That's what you need it to do." then you are silent ... but we can HEAR the CLICK of the tooth (the part that was broken) attaching to the printer frame as you use your index finger and engage the part a little. But it will ONLY click and attach if you move it a little. So, at 7:45, I would add: "Then move or engage the part a little until you hear the CLICK of the tooth attaching to the frame."

@@thecollegepickerok, so now I have a new question, lol...
The cam lever eventually gave up the ghost. Ordered a new one, installed it, etc. The white plastic tab doesn't seem to come through to the paper tray as much as the one in your video, and although it appears to lift up the front flap of paper, nothing slides through to the printer itself.
Any suggestions on what to check?

Awesome, crystal clear instructions, worked like a charm (used existing cam lever) that had become dislodged. Very pleased with video..

Great tutorial. I'm really glad to be able to fix this. I really don't want to buy a new printer now that they've put DRM into a lot of the cartridges.

Thanks for this! The little tab on mine just broke today, thankfully I can still print things by feeding manually until my replacement part comes in. I feel confident that I can follow these instructions and get the part replaced.

Update: I did it! It was a bit more difficult than I thought to get the piece seated on the black peg (sorry can't remember what you called it) but I managed to get it on. I've printed several things and everything is working as expected! :D
