One thing that will always be true of F7 owners is that no matter what variant of the F7 you have in your hangar, there's always an objectively better and more exclusive version that you don't own.
You can actually wing walk up to the top of the ship and there’s a button you can press at the edge of the pod that will open cargo pod I use a tractor beam to haul boxes up there
This one has a smaller power plant than the military version. Thats why the military version has so many guns. It has more power to fill those capacitors. I don't think they should not allow more gun mounts on this one because is is nerfed already due to the power issues.
Damn, I wasn’t expecting. This one to come out so quick. Kudos. But yeah, I can’t tell a real disadvantage to getting this over the original. Based on the numbers it looks lien it’s a tiny bit worst at strafing, porch, yaw G forces (while blowing the original out of the water for everything else) and has slightly less fuel. Along with the insanely better looks, I’d 100% Ava emu money and get the mark 2 over the original. Hopefully MM fixes the original by making it have better ho/ armor or something🤷♂️
Why make the original better at fighting when there's a perfectly logical way of balancing it already: Make the Mk1 a lot more versatile. You get the Ghost, the Tracker and the Super Hornet. Apparently, there's a MK2 Tracker, but the Ghost gives you stealth and the Super Hornet gives you a second seat where you can either stow your friend or an incapacitated bounty target. The F7C Mk1 begin strictly worse than the F7C Mk2 is fine if you ask me as long as the Mk1 is cheap enough to make it a "stepping stone" for new pilots, who can then either specialize with one of the Mk1 variants or go further into fighting by going with the Mk2.
They DEFINITELY should NOT make the nose and ball turret exclusive to the F7A MK2. The upgrade to the F7A you get through Xenon Threat only works with ships bought with real money. You can't get the F7A without spending real money after you already bought the game package. That's also the same with the F8. Yes, you have to work for it by finding a golden ticket, but you also have to spend real money on it. The strongest ships are behind a pay wall and you can't buy them in-game. Finding a golden ticket wasn't really the problem. Completing Xenon Threat also wasn't a problem when you were in a group of 3 or 5 people. Things like this turn Star Citizen into a full-price pay-to-win game. So if you want Star Citizen to be even more pay-to-win, yes, make the nose and ball turret exclusive to the F7A.
I have a regular hornet, bought in game, so I don't think completing the event will allow me to upgrade to this one. If it did allow for the upgrade I would for sure. I don't think I'd spend real money on this though, fighters don't seem to have enough uses to justify spending real money on, at least for the way I play.
I feel like they're gonna raise the armor values on the MK1 considering its an older model to balance them. A good comparison would be when real world car models progress in years the materials that are used as time goes on tend to be lighter, but at the cost of durability. Making the newer models safer and quicker, but with the caveat of having very fragile parts.
I also feel this way. The MK I has a chunky feel to it that I can also see translating to higher durability. Another possibility might be a lower cost of repair, much like the old Avenger models that are still in use per the lore that are rugged and presumably easy to work on.
Such a shame that they got rid of the two lower MFD's. I loved the look of the panel in the Super Hornet and tbh just because of this I decided not to get this ship. MFD's are essential, especially on a fighter. They could have left the upper ones to be AR and kept 4 physical ones.
I agree with the stepping stone to the F7A, but loosing the cargo space is not my opinion of an upgrade. I would rather the F7c mkII over FZA. Or the ability to swap out the turret on the F7A but then the F7c wouldn’t have a reason to exist at all.
To be fair the base F7c is exactly the same. You absolutely do not go out with a stock setup base Hornet unless you are deliberately handicapping yourself.
running full ballistics on my mk2, its crazy, but you cant stay in the fight for very long, and the size 4 on the top looks really stupid right now, the ball turret seems to be misaligned or something, also removing the top mfd's is an obvious downgrade from mk1
Letting this thing only mount two size fours is maybe the dumbest take I’ve heard on this game. It would make it the same as a hurricane without the gunner. That would be unbelievably bad. The mk1 would be doing more than double the dps.
This review is of course update 3.22 and as a stock ship, expect the portions where I mention upgrades. In 3.23 it’s already stock mounted as 2 size 4’s, I have a new review for this ship cooking.
I don't know, this new hornet looks....odd. Weak shields, low capacitors... The F8C Shreds this tiny child. Stepping up a little bit, an Ares Inferno seems to be a more bang for the buck.
Well duh the F8 is going to tear this because its a medium fighter, not a heavy. A better comparison would be to other mediums/lights due to their better similarities. However this will change til MasterModes arrive
thats a clear no.. too many buttons needed for a console controler if you want to unleash the full potential of all the options this game offers. its just too complex.

Great review. Nice and clean. Thank you!
If I had the money, I would 100% throw it all on this. Unfortunately, I guess we have to wait til it goes live in game..

Hopefully we will be able to swap it out with cargo and turret
You can swap out the cargo container for a turret or dish.

Not yet. The second I have access to it I will.

I had to buy it from those websites that sell SC stuff
Concierge only unfortunately.
AD4B seems to be mandatory on this ship, the repeaters just dont perform well.
You know I want it but I haven’t even tried light/heavy fighter combat. Just multipurpose/cargo. Cost is too steep for me to justify in that regard.

I think the intent is to have more AR elements in the mkII. Declutter the cockpit, put it on HUD.
How do you put a size 4 on the ball turret? Mine only holds size 2 weapons.

I did and have enjoyed this 10x more
The mk2 should be better than the og. Whole point of a mk2 is to improve upon the original design
F8 is much better ship by far.
- faster
- 19000 shields vs 3000 on the hornet
- 2500 qt fuel vs 600 on the hornet
hornet is trash compared to the F8
Both different ships technically, one is heavy fighter the other isn’t. They have to keep to their roles.
F7 is a medium fighter
