1 oz blade baits work phenomenally silver and blue in our lake to model after the alewives. Fished all winter in 165' of water and piled them up (mostly released them)
Cool vid my favorite jigging bait for lake Michigan lake trout is a 3 to 4 inch white tube on a 1 oz chartreuse jig head we get them in the fall and spring off of the Chicago break walls fun fishing 🎣 😀 👍
A company in Montana called Zimmer Tackle makes some really good jigging baits. Warmer water temps and the trilobite flat tipped with bait strip smokes them. I would recommend checking them out.
Is a lake trout a trout species or is it a lake that has trout in it? I'm from The Netherlands where we have one big lake (approx 1 square mile) with depths ranging from 1 to 35 meters (mix of fresh/salt water). It has sea trout, rainbow trout, brown trout and some salmonoids but I've never heard of lake trout. Would these methods of jigging be of any use there you reckon?
I have a minn kota terror with spot lock that I use for anchoring but before that I did use a anchor before that depending on depth. or if was mostly calm just drift jig can work well to
Ya there shipping is really high if you only buy like one lure. When I order i usually try to spend enough to get the free shipping options which I believe is like $150 I have few friends that usually want some baits to so we pool or orders to get free shipping.
I wish I would have been there with you. I really enjoy fishing! Amazing!!
It's ,not, nearly like being there. However it's still nice watching you enjoy the lake.
Good job Michael,

Lake trout is a specific species, a member of the char family. Also called Mackinaw.
@@KD-kf4zm Appreciate it! Thank you.
Do you anchor when you are jigging? We are hoping to give this a go if we come out to Francois in the next week or so !

@@michaeldriedger8564 thank you for the reply!! We are in Vanderhoof - looking for lures 😆
Do you catch burbot too when you’re thumping the mud?
yep you bet, caught a bunch of them last year largest I got was a 12lb while I was fishing for lakers.
Great video!
Have you tried Buzz bombs? They have been on my top 3 lake trout jigging lure list these last 2 years.
I have a few just haven't gotten around to actually try them. I have heard they work well though
@@michaeldriedger8564 I'd love to see how they work in your area. I'm hoping to come up there soon and will be bringing a pocket full of buzz bombs
I will give it a try next time I go out
Is spinner good for trout
they are great for casting or for trolling
What state do you fish in?
I’m actually in British Columbia, Canada
My only problem with bondys is they tend to hook eyes.
I can see that happening for sure , one fix for that I have found is removing one of the hooks and just leaving the back one on.
Checked out the 2oz bottom bouncer cost 12 bucks , but 20 bucks for shipping ? Get lost ! Is this a scam or what ?
