You may be the first person in history to say Lakers are like Bluefish! Lol! Nice vid. Good to see I'm not the only one catching those without downriggers and dipseys. My pb on the Finger Lakes so far is about 20lbs. (through the ice). Try dropping your jig to the bottom, jig it twice and start cranking it to the surface- fast! Pause the lure every, 3 or 4 turns and keep cranking, they will sometimes follow all the way and grab it on the top in 70-80fow!

I used to catch all my lake trout on Kensico reservoir Rye New York. I like your method of catching them. We used to use sawbellies, sink them down on a fishfinder when you see the schools. Mostly they would only bite in the morning though. Seems like you're catching them in the middle of the day. If I belly hooked them I would bring them home for the grill. Best ways to cut them into cross-sections like salmon. Put them directly on the grill. There's lots of fat in the skin that drips down. The flames lick up and put them good flavor on the meat. Then you just use a fork and lightly flaking off the bone as you eat it. Good-sized fish you were catching there!

I've been following you for a while, I grew up on canandaigua, went to school in Ithaca. My brother is dying to know the secret to catching trout on those lakes without an elaborate system. You've been incredibly helpful!

Perfect timing. I’m also visiting my folks here in the upstate area, a little further east though. Used to do a ton of SCUBA in the finger lakes. Deep, clear, cold water. You could be sweating bullets on the surface but freeze your B’s off on the bottom. Always dove drysuit there. Cheers mate.

    Beautiful trout.
Nice to get away from the summer heat. I envy you, E. It’s been brutally hot on the Alabama coast this season, and the surf is full of hardheads.

Crushed them on Keuka this weekend mostly in 50-70 FOW. When you keep these, im assuming you snip their gills and throw them on ice? I had one that didn't look to healthy when cleaning after a long day in the well.

What was the approximate native / stocker ratio? Didn't see any Pro-Cure onboard. Any Smallmouth there, over rock or gravel points? Enjoy the clear Summer water, without sharks.

Some smallies, but double digits laker days with a potential 15lber is the draw for me.

@@EliasVFishing If there was a chance for a 7 lb Smallmouth, versus a 15 lb. Laker ... it would be a tossup in my book. ; )

I see some guys using big white tubes, do you know if they work? I'm still trying to jig up my first lake trout and they are still a mystery to me, so far no go. Great catches :)

The fishing in my area is been really bad, first we had red tide last year and this year the three best fish are closed to repopulate other areas effected by it. Now we have flesh eating bacteria in the water so even a small cut could cost you a limb or even death! And all the fresh water is plagued by green algae. People are still fishing, I guess they like to take their chances.

man you always smash em! the way you know the fish.. I bet you could pull out a 5-10lb largemouth in a day.. you should at least try a few.. im on shore and on pressured water.. I need a truck and a rig like your kayak... then I bet I could get more lunks.. I did get a nice one from shore the other day on vid, you might even like to see her. 25 inch 16 inch girth. . the largemouth here are super smart by 2 lbs.. so ya its challenging. but its worth it when score the nice ones.. keep smashing them hogs.
