19:30 This was a stage that was in the very early proto of MK3 that was cut quickly during development. The fact it's in here really makes me happy. Also thank you for all the fun MK playthroughs, this MK Mugen looks fire
MK Trilogy for the PSX was the first 'Mugen' game for me and felt a bit fake. They either deleted, simplified or modified perfectly good finishing moves for no reason and the new Johnny Cage felt fake (tell that to the press). It is not surprising considering how the SNES UMK3 did not improve on the MK3 but added some and scrapped some; very inconsistent.
The AI looks like it's completely broken, as if it's set to eat as many quarters as possible starting from the second opponent. The only issue is that we're not in the arcade anymore. If Darryl's having this much trouble getting past the second fight, the vast majority of your players won't even see more than 10 percent of what the game has to offer.
@the-NightStar Not really. Arcade MK games usually set to let you win the first three fights, and then the fourth one becomes very hard. There's a whole complex logic behind how it calculates the CPU difficulty increase. It's blatant cheating, you can look up the MK 2 cheats video, it's on TH-cam as a deep dive into AI logic using the game's source code. But even if this game was "arcade accurate", why make it like that anymore? Arcades are not a thing, and it's not fun when CPU openly cheats and kills you over and over again, regardless of how good you are. I mean, Darryl is a very skilled player - and even he's stuck on the second fight. This means that for the vast majority of the player base, the game will end right there. What's the point then?
Trust me the AI will be toned down, testing at extreme difficulty is just part of the process. I’m confident when the game is complete we will have lenient AI and difficulty levels that match all skill levels 👊🏼
It’s always such a great feeling when I find a TH-cam channel like yours. Your review was great about the game, the editing was good and your fighting was.. well getting back to it I’m happy I found your channel. Great video on a great mugen
😂😂 had to laugh at “your fighting was..” I know I even told the creator I don’t have to post this one as my skills against the AI were subpar at best but he said it’s all good, showing the improvement in later vids for the AI is just part of the beta process and coming up with difficulty levels that match all skill levels is important. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it! 🙏🏽👊🏼
This is so beautiful man ❤️❤️😩 first time I seen this and by the way for those who were wishing scorpion on Mk3 we gonna have it on here lol that’s so cool man good video
I don’t really like fan made versions probably because I’m a purists. But I did think it was cool to see some of the original backgrounds with the props that were taken out from the final. I believe the cave background was part of their earlier test at one point too.
This AI really takes being cheap to a whole new level with it's throws, even worse than the MK2 AI. I've never liked how it can throw you out of any situation. It feels like the programmers designed the AI to behave like it's in an actual wrestling match. I guess the AI is set to the hardest difficulty for now until the rest of the project is finished before it's released.
Wow... Where did this remixed version come from? It looks amazing! It's like a halfway step between MK3 and UMK3. For a beta it's pretty cool, because I would have liked three things: 1. Johnny Cage, Raiden, Sub-Zero (Masked) and Scorpion to appear from the beginning. 2. The color of the stone and the portal to be in warmer tones like in MK3 and to start the combos from above. Still... I will love MK3 as always. ❤🙏🔥
The AI is like the freaking Terminator! Constantly walking forward at u....ruthless! I laughed wayy to hard watching u play Shang tsung just manhandle u across the screen 🤣 🤣. Some cheap ass AI for difficulty 1 lmfao
Nice to see all kinds of beta and omitted elements used here. And the game actually plays close to the arcade with the little nuances that make it feel like it is.
In the 90s I bought MK 3 for SNES and later played it at a friend’s house on Sega Genesis. I enjoyed beating my friends in both MK 3 ports! Using the Gamepro magazine scoring system this is what I give both ports. SNES MK 3: Graphics: 5 Sound: 4 Controls: 4 Fun Factor: 5 Overall: 18 Sega Genesis MK 3: Graphics: 3 Sound: 3 Controls: 5 Fun Factor: 5 Overall: 16 Despite the pillow sound from the SNES, it is better than the Sega Genesis. Why not a tie? Because the Graphics and sound from Sega Genesis are terrible!
I like that kind of difficulty , I play all my retro fighting games at hardest level . I would like my Street fighter 2 world warrior and super street fighter 2 for Snes to have their difficulty level raised , level 8 is too easy for me
Some nice ideas, but lots still to be done. It has the bad ai that all the early Mugen's had, but I see a nice pinned post from the dev who has big plans for it so it has a lot of potential for sure!
When I was a teenager in the 90's, I never understood why the home versions of the arcade games were so hard. I knew that the reason the arcade versions were hard because they wanted your quarters. However, for the home versions, they don't make any money off of your continues, so why not make the difficulty options be allowed to work as intended and have easy be *actually* easy, and hard be hard? Now, I know the reason is because the people programing the home versions were just copying over the arcade A.I. But in 2024, there's no excuse to have the computer difficulty based on a system that needs constant quarters. Nobody is gonna play a game that's this hard. If you want people to want your game, you've gotta make it more accessible. It's gotta at least be playable on easy for those who love MK. And for people who want an impossible challenge - that's what the hard difficulty is there for. But don't make the very easy difficulty setting hard or you're just running off potential players and interest.
Graphically the best one yet, doesn't look harder than the vanilla mk3 for snes (that one doesn't have some of the exploits as you know...). Great overall
You should have played a few rounds on the highest available difficulty setting, I'm very curious to see if it could actually be any harder than it was.
While these Mugen MK games are fun I really do not like the way they kept making those battle tower looking like that where they hide all the opponents in the battle plan as if those are all secret characters like c'mon make it look like the arcade so that the battle tower looks colorful and unique, instead everything is like a secret to them it just doesn't give me the sense of playing the arcade game. Also no Cyrax in the desert doesn't look right but the rain at the riverbank looks nice.
Agreed, I've got no idea why they do this. I like seeing what awaits me as I go up the tower. That's why I always enjoyed picking a tower in MK4 where you could easily see the roster before you pick one - in case you want to fight someone specific.
It is possible, but the creator can only establish one preset lineup for the battle plan, which means that in arcade mode, you'll face the same tower over and over again. This is why every MK MUGEN battle plan resembles that of Street Fighter. However, I prefer the element of surprise in who I’ll face next, rather than knowing in advance, except for the bosses and secret fights.
The arcade based MK games were designed to eat your quarters. However, for games like MKX they got the difficulty right. It would be cool if they made custom Klassic arcade MK games, but without the quarter gobbling necessity built in. Especially for those of us who don't have any friends to play with and only ever play against the computer.
MK2 AI was not a good idea. It's basically the worst aspect of the og MK2, so having it here, in the game that aspires to be among the best of MK3 fan games, is a huge mistake imo. Graphics are nice and all, point system is a welcome addition, but CPU needs to be seriously nerfed in order to have an enjoyable experience.
The thing with the 2D MK graphics is that although the games were made to use 4x3 screens, the developers clearly didn't take the game's internal resolution very seriouly because it's much wider than that and all the digitized graphics show up horizontally compressed. The digital art looks fine though. That why those characters and portraits look better when you stretch them to 16x9, it gets pretty close to how they would be displayed in the game's native resolution (400x254) that's something around 14x9
I dont think its just the far grabs, I noticed Kung was able to do a standing knee to Liu when you where air punching. It almost feels like the Cpu has a bigger hurt box or your character has a bigger hit box.
Excellent! There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done with this I believe and seeing the stages of progress will be fun. Can’t wait to try the finished product.
Another generic MK3 game by fans. Don't get me wrong, I love these fan made games, but only when they offer something unique and interesting. What this game offers outside of that? New UI, few new moves and cheating AI? That's not enough for a good game. That is why I skip a lot of these mugen projects these days because, it wasn't our first time of making fan made games, like in the past, when it was enjoyable to play a random generic MK game, that was put out by some random guy. These days that does not work that way. Especially after what borg117 did with his seasonal updates for MK Project. He set the bar very high for fan made MK games, that is why playing another version of MK3 made by someone else is boring, to say the least. At least from my perspective. And then cheating AI that reads your input simply makes the game useless. So yeah, that's that.
There is nothing wrong with “generic” fan made MK games. I prefer those over the cross-over, 60+ character roster mugen games, as those are very sloppy, and the characters are insanely broken and overpowered. The “generic” games to me are like remasters, and don’t stray too far from the original. However to each of their own.
@@TrinaRayne In terms of quality, there is nothing wrong, but in terms of what the game is, it's just the same game in 100 time all over again but with different presentation. And that is my problem with these games. Like, if they provide something new then it can catch my interest, but when it's the same game all over again then I don't see a point of playing it.
Ugh, you're worst than a woman who always complains about the same guys they date over and over again, but for you, it's all about those fan made MK MUGEN games. And honestly, what's up with your double standards? You love MK2R, but you can't stand MK3R, even though it's being developed by the same person from the MK2R team. If you think MK3R is just another generic MK3 MUGEN game, then why didn't you have the same attitude towards MK2R when it first came out?
Some guy was in the comments in Darryl's recent videos looking for testers. I don't know if he was full of it or for real. I tried to contact them myself, but I heard nothing back.
the 3D0 version of MK2 looks like MK2 on the Game Gear. Characters are way too big for the screen, and the creator brags they are the size of the arcade sprites, which while I'm sure is true, the screen resolution is not the same size. There's no point in making the character sprites the size of the arcade if the screen can't fit them correctly. It looks silly, cheap and very amateur-ish.
nah darryl ur skill lvl had nothing to do with the AI. AI is just ridiculously broken. those instant grabs are pure cheat. even noticed how they were doing a simple 1 punch move and u get knocked down instantly by it just simply stopping u. the cheating ai needs to chill big time lol. awesome video nonetheless!
Yeah working out the difficulty is just part of the testing process. Lots to be done still with this version but so far it’s looking good! The finished product will be accessible to all skill levels depending on the level you choose.
I think they took the throw from MKII Kung Lao and applied it here. I always thought when they made mugens that they should have an option where you can turn on or off being uppercut through stages. In the official MK3 games I always hated that loop of the balcony, bridge, and soul chamber if you got uppercut back to the balcony.
By the looks of it I prefer mk2 remix but this looks cool Umk3 is one of my favorite fighting games of all time , up there with 3rd strike, but I think umk3 is already near perfect and doesn’t need changes Mk 2 is like that also but remix adds many new mechanics and move along with an entirely new art style
Have you tried mk2 remix? Judging by your comment its probly exactly what your looking for. Im not usually a fan of fan made mugen stuff but trust me its amazing.
MK 3 is my favorite of the three, it would be cool if someone did a version with the superior "gib" sprites from 2, the ones in 3 always looked awful to me and kind of diminished the fatalities imo
Hi darryl trying beta testing mortal kombat 9 xbox 360 game is amazing even mortal kombat deadly alliance ps2 version i like them both beta testing please sir im a big mortal kombat male gamer fan.
This is one of the few times you'll hear me "Nah bro" on a fan made/beta version of a game. The MK2 AI is literally the worst aspect of MK2 lmao. WHY would you use that engine?! The added graphical elements look extremely out of place and forced. The helicopter was an original idea in the koncept sketches; I wish we got to see the MK team's rendition! Great gameplay and content as always dude; I'm just a boring purist!
I respect your comment for sure and see your point. As for the difficulty I felt a little embarrassed when I showed the creator of this my gameplay BUT tweaking the difficulty and AI are just part of the process so I’m glad he looked at that aspect and has already as of me posting this video tweaked the difficulty. I will be showing more of this version as it moves forward towards completion.
the problem with mk3 is the cheap ai and that looks to remain here😢 yes you can cheese yourself to win but what’s the fun in that ? you’re only cheating yourself
It seemed to get harder when you changed it from 4 to 1 difficulty level 😂 maybe try putting it on max difficulty? Maybe they programmed the numbering the wrong way around? So max is easiest?
Gonna pass on this one, I don't see the developer completely revamping the gameplay at this point in development. Too bad, this one had potential before you started actually playing it.
I record a lot of content yes lol when I have free time and the games I’m playing during that time is fun I need to share it with the world lol thanks for the comment 👊🏼
I could tell you now I would not have a good time playing this compared to your playing my skills are like a newbie and I can hold my own most the time. The walking toward you I get to keep the game from idle. But jesus at least give enough room for the opponent to get up and fight back. The relentless throws and counter attacks before you can even get a move in. I say pull the AI way back that's ridiculous even on 1.
I hear ya, and again it’s part of the process, finding decent AI to suit every level of gamer is a tough job, but the creator of this has it under control. I already have an easier version that I will be trying out on my own later today 👊🏼
@BushyStallion noice. Thanks for being a part of keeping the MK 2d stuff alive. I lost interest in Mk when Mk4 came out and just recently got back into it. Just got my UMK3 yesterday and after watching your videos. I agree why is the AI in that so ridiculous haha.
@@Matt_Holcomb when I see people like @tehdrewsus play UMK3 for example I see the patterns for beating that game and he makes it look easy, it’s all just a matter of playing them A LOT and figuring out what works. And almost developing that muscle memory until it eventually becomes easy to the point where you don’t even have to think about it while playing. I’d like to get there one day when it comes to UMK3. The AI has beaten me on that FOR LONG ENOUGH and I need my closure lol
@BushyStallion hahaha you can do it. I think you are good enough. I'll check out his videos on UMK3 I followed him the other day when you made the guess the fatalities give away. I have trouble doing the back jumps and forward jumps. So I bought the only school SNES joystick controller the other day. I have one but I can't find it for the life of me.
where's the point of playing video games that are too easy ? a true warrior always seeks stronger opponents , besides we already played these fighting games back in the 90s , so a new level of difficulty would bring new interest . There are thousands of easy video games for toddler , just get your hands on them
Ironing out difficulty is part of the testing process, and finding a medium that works for most gamers. Don’t worry it’ll have options for easier AI depending on the level of difficulty you choose.

Why would anyone want cheating AI, that’s the one annoying thing about the original trilogy that makes it hard to enjoy in single player in 2024.
Wtf... Our mk3 contains much new and unreleased stuff. And game improving may be everyday, step by step. This project is about quality.
Look into MKII for the 3DO, it looks amazing.
I did get a response from the creator of that, I will have to wait to play it as he’s still working out the kinks 👊🏼
Flawless Victory
nah darryl ur skill lvl had nothing to do with the AI. AI is just ridiculously broken. those instant grabs are pure cheat. even noticed how they were doing a simple 1 punch move and u get knocked down instantly by it just simply stopping u. the cheating ai needs to chill big time lol. awesome video nonetheless!
Are you familiar with mugen? Especially an unfinished build?
Yeah working out the difficulty is just part of the testing process. Lots to be done still with this version but so far it’s looking good! The finished product will be accessible to all skill levels depending on the level you choose.
Also, the new music sounds really good and doesn't sound out of place. Are these newly composed?
I think they took the throw from MKII Kung Lao and applied it here. I always thought when they made mugens that they should have an option where you can turn on or off being uppercut through stages. In the official MK3 games I always hated that loop of the balcony, bridge, and soul chamber if you got uppercut back to the balcony.
Those subway tracks in Subway stage have always be out of proportion
By the looks of it I prefer mk2 remix but this looks cool
Umk3 is one of my favorite fighting games of all time , up there with 3rd strike, but I think umk3 is already near perfect and doesn’t need changes
Mk 2 is like that also but remix adds many new mechanics and move along with an entirely new art style
Have you tried mk2 remix? Judging by your comment its probly exactly what your looking for. Im not usually a fan of fan made mugen stuff but trust me its amazing.
This individual also did work on MK2 Remix, so I have high expectations for this version 👊🏼
Curious someone would choose to use the whoops original MK3 release, when midway/williams realized just how much we loved Scorpion and Sub-Zero
MK 3 is my favorite of the three, it would be cool if someone did a version with the superior "gib" sprites from 2, the ones in 3 always looked awful to me and kind of diminished the fatalities imo
On the character select screen Johnny cage looks like the terminator 😂
And the color looks a bit different, pretty good.
Where can we get this?
Patience, my son.
@@nickangelo16 me too , but with the same AI that hard
I believe the release date is early 2025.
This looks ace!
🙏🏾
Hi darryl trying beta testing mortal kombat 9 xbox 360 game is amazing even mortal kombat deadly alliance ps2 version i like them both beta testing please sir im a big mortal kombat male gamer fan.
I could always showcase those games 👊🏼
@@BushyStallion Also please note I am in no way bashing your/this person's hard work by any means! I just know most people despise the MK2 AI lol.
is this game made by the creators of MK2 REMIX?
The creator of this did have a hand in MK2 Remix yes 👍🏼
@@BushyStallion ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
MK2 THE BEST WERSION 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 E V E R 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Top Gun! "I feel the need...the need for speed!"
Lol absolutely 👍🏼
why they removed that introduction, makes the game more interesting! overall this looks badass!.
I thought MK3's difficulty was a good middle ground. Not too easy, and not impossible like MK2 and UMK3.
the problem with mk3 is the cheap ai and that looks to remain here😢 yes you can cheese yourself to win but what’s the fun in that ? you’re only cheating yourself
Looks and sounds good but still the bullshit AI. Why doesn't someone make a MK2 mugen without the shitty combos??
*gasp*
THE ARCADE CABINETS ARE OFF?!?!?!!!???
Were they? Lol
😎👍
Underwhelming. I wouldn't call this a remaster, that's for sure. The added objects just look like they were pasted in there.
It seemed to get harder when you changed it from 4 to 1 difficulty level 😂 maybe try putting it on max difficulty? Maybe they programmed the numbering the wrong way around? So max is easiest?
Is that the shinobi cave in that stage? 😂
*Frustratingly Difficult*
Right now it can be. I’ve been sent a more balanced version last night that I will try later today 👊🏼
@BushyStallion Nice! Because that was a hard watch. Lol
The ai should be toned down. I notices they're not giving you much space. They just gravitate towards you the whole time 😂
very nice i hope is 4:3 screen option
why ? the game has true widescreen option , why do want 4:9 ? just get back to old Mortal Kombat 3
Gonna pass on this one, I don't see the developer completely revamping the gameplay at this point in development. Too bad, this one had potential before you started actually playing it.
Sheesh, that ai is relentless.
It’s being worked on 👊🏼
If mk2 and mk trilogy cage works the same ( didn't rlly play trilogy in a very long time) I can carry with cage. But that AI looks too hard😮
Feels like 1995 all over again!
Good evening
link?
Inessary we have ultimate
what's wavenet kombat?
I believe it’s gonna include online gameplay.
very high frame rate
🎉🎉🎉OOOH Aaaaa
please give me a download link
is this made by the same creators who made MK2 REMIX?
Link will be available when the game is finished. Early 2025 I believe 👊🏼
Man Daryl your a machine lately , GG !!
would you say he an...Arcade machine!?
I record a lot of content yes lol when I have free time and the games I’m playing during that time is fun I need to share it with the world lol thanks for the comment 👊🏼
@ for sure thanks for showcasing this
Is mugen MK3 ?
mugen is the emulator that provides the playable version of these games.
😇😇😇😇
Sure would be nice to hear stuff instead you talking.
this game is garbage can't even win no fun
Um. No. You're absolutely objectively wrong. You just suck at understanding how to play it.
That's what losers who suck say. So every millenial and gen z
where's the point of playing video games that are too easy ? a true warrior always seeks stronger opponents , besides we already played these fighting games back in the 90s , so a new level of difficulty would bring new interest . There are thousands of easy video games for toddler , just get your hands on them
Ironing out difficulty is part of the testing process, and finding a medium that works for most gamers. Don’t worry it’ll have options for easier AI depending on the level of difficulty you choose.
@@BushyStallion I want the hardest possible AI , and the game to be available for android too
