I try not to judge other people's work because sometimes the customer gets exactly what he paid for, but this is another level of incompetence. Thanks for sharing.
Maybe a machine shop video?
Love yo see Uncle Barry's assessment on camera
Great way to end the week and jumpstart the weekend. 😊
Gorgeous looking truck. Wow....what some people call a professional rebuild. And the customer probably paid top $ for the work too. Well it's gonna get done properly this time. Look forward to more on this one. Be safe and stay well.
I am seventy three right as of now... mechanic for the best part of my short now crippled life. My guess is, a fellow went to a small store and ordered a reman engine or even rebuilt one. Order went out during Covid and a small company as it maybe two or three fellows with a bit of knowledge, went to a wrecking yard, pulled a truck engine, and then swapped some automotive stuff to this engine. They did use new parts for bearings but the heads were a best of many sorted through, pulled the valve keepers, new valve seals after using a steel brush to clean stuff where paint would stick. Improper installation of those seals resulted in what you have now. Princess auto tools instead of real machine shop tools, no hot tank, maybe a pressure washer for paint to stick. Oil pan was a issue so cobbled one out of two or more. I don't need to go much further with my explanation as these engines came to me in my shop in wasilla alaska from the early days when still called Shucks auto parts. Back then they didn't even have the excuse of covid for troubles getting stuff fixed. I don't remember the engine family for the 460 but thinking the 429 was a FE engine block used in station wagons, large luxury vehicles, and small farm style trucks. To spare you of a longer than necessary explanation.... I am a very sick guy as in hospice sick. Not real sure of the whole jist of this yet just know it was a combination of errors. Take care fellows
That’s a nice clean truck!
Sad about having to revisit a rebuild, such is life.
Guess brass may be oil pump drive.
Engine is exactly what the owner purchased originally a low-mileage 429 fresh rings and bearings sending it to a machine shop would have been a complete waste. if you noted it still had the original factory paint on it. Cylinder heads were machined at competition engine in Winnipeg where was given a three angled valve job as well as installing new valve guides and larger valves. Loose bolts are usually a pretty good symptom that this thing was overheated likely from hot lapping it up and down Steinbach Main Street just before it started running like crap LOL. Where he got the idea that this thing was a fully machined fresh engine must have come out of his crack pipe. He damn near got that engine for free so he shouldn't f****** complain you guys missed one important step checking the valve lash on number 3 cylinder before you pull it apart having one valve leaking is one thing but both of them at the same time😮 owner didn't like the valve train noise and was warned about over-tightening the valve lash and result was overstressed cam bearings and leaky valves
Oy!
No assembly lube perhaps?
Also a trans cooler from a 2010? E350 van might work out
Another quality video thanks guys
Thanks for watching, Keith!
Maybe the spark plug installer owned a 5.4 plug spitter and tried to compensate
Is that 4x4?
