my box was brown, no color.. they upgraded the packaging like crazy on yours! great channel.. Love your reviews. YOU are now the GO TO microphone reviewer in my feed.. Out of ALL my mics, this one was my favorite, until I really paid attention, and this one has a bit of a mechanical, nasal, sound to it, where the K688 is nice warm, and clean, and the PD400X is just all around the best microphone for all around recording.
Hello, Dave! New to your channel, and loving your content so far. Could you help me with a mic recommandation that doesn't cost a lot more than the fifine mics (150$ tops), but sounds better overall? The main focus is for streaming, content creation and gaming. It just needs to have some sort of stand or arm included if possible. Thanks a lot!
After seeing many reviews of Fifine, I have finally decided to buy the k688 thanks to your reviews Dave. Can you recommend audio interfaces for this microphone? (it's the first microphone I'll buy btw)
ok so i had ordered this on amazon just now for $76 but then i saw someone mention the m70 pro x from beyerdynamic in the comments and i had never heard of it so looked it up and it's going for $80 (76% off msrp) on amazon as well which i was surprised but excited to see! I cancelled the tank 3 despite really loving what you were saying about it with regards to noise rejection especially (i'm pretty sure the m70 pro x will have excellent rejection as well though). I just can't in good conscience not try out the beyerdynamic at the SAME price given the name and me already owning a pair of their headphones and loving them. I will have to reply to this comment with an update on how it turns out!
Wow!! What a steal, and smart move! I would've done the same. I've heard some reviews, and they weren't stellear, but I hope you have a great experience with it. Tell us how it goes!
@@mettymets1 I want to say possibly... in terms of value, yes. But it would require a proper audio interface to be used and maximized. The Fifine, though clearly inspired by the Beyer in appearance, already offers you clean preamps in USB mode, which the Beyer doesn't have. So it's a vs between a complete package sub $100, and an incomplete package that punches way above its weight class. Congrats on your steal!!
@@DaveSoltura yeah that is true if you value portability or need usb functionality the fifine is still great, but if you're willing to fork out just a little extra dough for a good cheap audio interface then $80 seems like robbery based on the reviews i've seen so far. Hey Dave, may I ask if the Tank 3 is also good in USB mode? I was looking for best USB mics and Fifine is in my interest to buy it aince it looks professional with no RGB lights but if the Tank 3 is not a good USB mic, have you got any recommendations that is Fifine brand or even a different brand that looks professional and does NOT HAVE RGB lights? @@DaveSoltura Just what you see of me. Video podcasting and youtube videos. Thats it for now. I've always tossed around the whole voice acting thing but idk yet. Confidence for that is low haha! But as for topping the K669D for video podcast and youtube content, What do you have in mind?
Great video :D , thanks a lot for your work! Hi, I'm looking for a microphone to do voice-over with a deep and rich tone of voice. Do you think this microphone will do the job? Is the Fifine AM8 better for its sound quality? Thanks for your help!
The Tank 3 is a great option! The AM8 has a slightly deeper/richer tone, but I think the build quality and aesthetics of the Tank 3 make it look more pro-this may impact how clients perceive you as a pro.
If your voice is a bit harsh in the first place, then it might be a bit hard for the Tank3 to smooth it out. Since it's a bit more mids and highs forward mic, the K688 should do a better job than the Tank3 in your case.
Never mind, the price of the AM8 is much lower. If you have gone for the AM8, then just believe that it's better than the Tank3.😉 At least in gaming, Tank3 isn't going to beat the AM8 for sure, especially in a much nosier environment.
D: Probably fifine's best mic so far! I don't know if that's just me, but noise is kinda too loud and it doesn't really handle plosives well. But overall, it's an amazing mic!
Hm, which noise is loud? Also, imagine if we added a wind screen over it, like the K688 and AM8. It isn't half bad for only having internal plosive rejection. :)
@@DaveSoltura you can hear the noise pretty loud on 3:09, while i couldn't hear any noise on your k688 review and pretty much a lot of other mic reviews also, second windscreen will make plosives a lot less noticeable, but it would make the mic look pretty big and kinda ugly lol
@@unearthlygoose Ah yeah! I'm very far from the mic in those shots, so boosting in post causes the noise floor to go up. It's superb with noise rejection, but you do need to be super up close! And yeah, nvm the windscreen ha!
As someone who would use it for streaming/possibly voice stuff would you Recc the K688 or the AM8? heard what you said about this mic not being the best for singing which had me a bit concerned.
If there's any voice recording application involved, the K688 which has slightly better and clearer highs compared to the AM8 should be a better choice.
@@FIFINE i ended up grabbing the AM8! been using it for a week do far and i’ve been lovin it. Next step whenever i have funds again will def be a SC3 and possibly the H8 headset since my current one is falling apart 😅
How does sound of Tank3 compare to Maono PD400x? Seeking a rich “radio” sound. Thank you. Ps: I was going to keep the K688 that I tried recently but it began to work intermittently after a couple hours. Is reliability an issue w FIFINE?
The PD400x would be better for that use. I personally haven't encountered a Fifine product failing within the first few hours. I've had an A8 fail after a year, but my K688 has been fine. Have you tried using a separate USB 3.0 cable? 2022 versions of the K688 had USB 2.0 which was providing an intermittent signal to the K688.
@@DaveSoltura Thanks for the feedback! As for K688 reliability, I tried the cable that came in the box but also a Thunderbolt 3 cable, just to be sure. Both worked fine at first. Then both did not work. Following morning, they work again, but intermittency is not acceptable. So sad. I liked the sound of the K688.
@@DaveSoltura I will probably switch to XLR for my main desk, but I like having the USB option for the first few months PLUS for travel. Do you think XLR would be more reliable on K688? That does make sense, given how much simpler it would be electronically in the microphone.
@@artmaltman Yes, because I suspect it's the preamps or a/d converters that conked out. The XLR connection is a different mechanism. That's the beauty of a USB + XLR mic! This latest video features the AM8, but also applies to the K688: th-cam.com/video/ONOu-BwaafI/w-d-xo.html
I got this but the headphone output sucks, people buy these based on YT reviews but there is no way to know what the reviewer is hearing in their headdphones from the headphone out on the body, this mic sounds different when you hear it while recording and then when you edit using another headphone output, say on an audio interface, a huge flaw
