- Watkins Glen International, nicknamed "The Glen", is an automobile race track located in the town of Dix just southwest of the village of Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. It was long known around the world as the home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for twenty consecutive years (1961-1980). In addition, the site has also been home to road racing of nearly every class, including the World Sportscar Championship, Trans-Am, Can-Am, NASCAR Cup Series, the International Motor Sports Association and the IndyCar Series. The facility is currently owned by NASCAR.

“Speed is beautiful”. 😂
Massive crash right below it!!
If you're referring to the 2008 NASCAR crash, the audible gasps from the crowd make it either funnier or scarier depending on your view of it.
As Jacksepticeye would say “SPEED IS KEY”
🤣🤣🤣
Such an ironic slogan to have a crash under!
I think it's fair to say the #77 isn't a lucky number to have for a NASCAR race here...
Ty Dillon: *I’m in danger…*
@@shaytrueblueaussie : "huh boss, I don't feel too good today... I think I'm gonna sit out for this one 😰"
Bro almost made manuel Crash there now with lower speed
Justin Haley: I’d beg to differ.
@@raven_1133 : he won Daytona, not Watkins Glen.
The 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series pileup and the 2017 Porsche GT3 Cup pileup should have both been included in this video.
as well as Rick Mast's crash in turn 6, and Daniel Suarez's crash in 2015 in the carousel
2:30 I know that car doesn't have roof flaps or anything really to keep it from going airborne, but when you have a blowover at Watkins Glen, you've done something 🤯🫣
The Glen is fast! NASCAR is at 150mph on that section of track. So the prototypes have got to be even faster through there.
When you look at 3:49 it’s tyres and tread that’s more important!
@@stumpusMaximus He’s talking about aerodynamic lift flipping the car. The tires have no impact on liftoff speed. If you get sideways/backward too much above 150ish mph, depending on the vehicle. You will take off like an airplane lol!
The crash at 5:49 is the last survivable crash before the the Bus Stop chicane was added to the track; a couple weeks later JD McDuffie in a NASCAR race died at the same corner
Watched that live on TV, Tommy Kendall was lucky to have survived that crash although his legs were badly broken.
JD's car though had a major mechanical failure that not even the chicane would have slowed down for.
@@badbooking3221 maybe not, but it moved the braking zone after the fact
And yet people still want to race without the bus stop
@@Caleb-kn2fw and that’s going to be a hard pass, because I don’t care about any religion (and Islam *is* one) that use fear and hate that guises as love and peace to get it’s message across
6:01 Marshall picked up the wrong flag 💀
No, it's always green flag after the scene of the accident. If the incident was after the marshal it would've been the wrong flag but in that instance it's the correct flag
@@SpyrithV Oh alr alr I stand corrected
i was there for the race at 1:55 in 2008! Kyle Busch took home the win that day!
0:57 i never seen a crash like this before damn 💀
@@Caleb-kn2fw wow bro fun omg very fun im gonna die bc i was laughing a lot omg omg
0:49 no, the Mazdas don't always race that close.
Usually they're closer.
Thank god for those foam blocks in turn 1 when Jimmie Johnson came flying in that corner
I love that almost all the none nascar ones were small hits but the nascar ones were atrocious kinda shows how unsafe other racing series are
@@Caleb-kn2fw I’m a Christian and I’m not changing God bless you
I believe that crash at 1:15 NASCAR Alltel car was a very young Jimmie Johnson.
I’ve always liked Jimmie Johnson. A badass driver and yet such a humble man.
Yes it is
Woah, in the first one, do i hear Mike Joy. Also i think we already learned not to be three wide at a road course
First clip is a fantastic find.
Awesome video man. At 7:20 was I believe a Busch North race and that was a hell of an incident. They just plowed into the wreck kamikaze style. I remember seeing that on Speed Channel. All kinds of big crashes on this one. Good work 👍
Notice, on the very next clip, how they widened the inside of that turn in the S's to help keep that from happening?
That was an ARCA brakes moment, and it's not even ARCA
@@dangerdean9066 Busch North or whatever it's called these days is even lower budget than ARCA.
'oh sorry, we'll come back to that in a moment huge incident.'😂
The Talladega of New York
I'm the guy in the highlighter yellow sticking out like a sore thumb in the grandstands in the most recent BMW flip from this year. Primarily because Lexus doesn't sell plus sized merch, and it was at least one of their colors. You didn't need to know this, but now you do.
When it rains SVRA weekend it's just depressing because alot of the drivers don't want to race because they don't want their cars wrecked so alot of them leave by Sunday except for the Trans Am Series.
In the first ine is that mike joy
Yes
@@racingpower1954 Pretty sure that was actually the legendary voice of Bob Jenkins.
No it was Mike joy he commentated on cbs and stuff back in the 90s
I’ve seen a couple of those in person. Legendary track.

Cevert....bloody hell!
2:00. Oh the irony.
Honestly, this video could’ve nearly been titled “Watkins Glen: Slippery When Wet.”
Fuck me the first crash...
How did the driver the car which torpedoed into the two which had already crashed survive that? That was like a hellfire missile heading for a russian tank
I Like Watkins Glen International With 2.428 Mile Road Course From 1986 To 1993 In My Opinion NASCAR History
They should have red flagged the 2004 IMSA race. They was racing in a monsoon.

Hey bro watch yo jet. Watch yo jet bro, WATCH YO JE-
4:27, bro wanted to join the party ☠️☠️☠️
Id love to see Sonoma or CTMP next!
Why isn't the Jimmy Means & JD McDuffy crash in this montage? JD deserves to be remembered.
Michael McDowell has had some bad luck with the walls at WG.
I love this track
Do Road Atlanta or VIR next please.
....and Road America.....
ok i get not showing jd mcduffy's crash but where's tommy kendall's the same year (same weekend?)
5:35
Why does the “Speed is beautiful look like a on purpose text box 😂
Does anyone have better footage of the bmw crash at 2:23 because I can’t find a video that shows why it happened
6:17 This crash was familiar when I first saw it on YT. Who drove the #31 car at the time
1:12 Jeidi salió vivo, seguro.
Damn I was expecting this to be 3 hours long
@@Caleb-kn2fwno.
Did everyone survive
Yes
This is a hairy track, I love it.
That wreck is when I became a Huge Jimmie Johnson fan
L on IMSA and NBC’s part for not getting an angle of the Turner Motorsport flip from this year
The Steve Millen crash is one of the worst ones I've ever seen. Not as bad as his crash at Road Atlanta, but the footage of that wasn't nearly as extensive.
Nobody takes any notice of flags at this track
1:19 good grief
Definitely loosing the Whole field 😅😂
0:05 lol
1:06 Why tf is the Saudi police here?!
*OOOO KHILE CRASHA*
Worst COTA crashes?
Runoff area is too small
That first one was like Russian dash cams. Totally flat out and blind as a bat!
To be fair to the driver, that crash happened right at the top of the hill so it's fair that he didn't see it. But should have been going slower if there were yellow flags waved.
@@michaelmeyer1055plus for some reason the other car was backing up
Call me crazy, but I want F1 to race here
They used to race there
Man I would love it! I only live 40 ish miles the track! I’ve never been able to see an F1 race, and it would make it so much easier if they would come back lol! But I doubt that will ever happen.
L avantage d une américaines c est qu elles et bien penser un châssis 2 pouttre porteuse est ca tient toujours
Wet not a race.
