I worked at RAF CHangi Airport 1967-1970, Twr Local and Approach Control, bringing in aircraft from the Sty John Beacon, just prior to handing over, those days, we enjoyed around 300 movements per day which was quite extensive for a Military airport,we worked in close conjunction with Paya Lebar (D1) Military aircraft included many US Air Force C130's and a wide variety of fighters and smaller transport aircraft, since our runway was parallel with Paya Lebar,(Only one runway those days,) On a few occasions,we had Civil Aircraft land at Changi when they should have landed at Paya Lebar. Paya Lebar always played a significant part of the joint control ,the wonderful people there with whom I worked with were simply amazing and a pleasure to workwith, looking at the gross changes sinceI l;eft there in`1970 is hard to conceive and Changi would have to be the world's most Up To Date Airport technically, making many large nations look quite backwards.
