Small engine mechanic does it again with a massive engine, good morning fellas please show us how they were making the bangs(exhaust through the ground)looks a hoot lol :o)
Cool find! I have a D4 Im working on that Im slowly getting fixed up. It has the same Two cylinder starting engine as that Gen-set, but it had the ring gear on the diesel broke so it couldn’t be started with the pup engine. I just got the flywheel back today from the Machine shop to get it fitted with a new ring gear. Looking forward to getting the old girl back together and making Smoke once more! Cheers from Alberta Canada!!
That noise was deafening!! That exhaust was run outta a building underground to a 5x5 hole that was 20 ft away!! Thankfully they only run that thing for 15 min. every few hours!!☺
@@MrThisIsMeToo haha you've lost me, if that's an in joke, that is a figure of speech here in England (and I assume there?) with any set of equipment you would use to complete a specialised task is of good/ fascinating/ enviable quality etc😄
Yeah that's a great show if your looking to buy or sell, there are thousands of engines and parts there!! We travel 300 miles to get there, we've met guys from all over the country there including Canada!!☺
Always be sure to run the pony motor out of gas in the carburetor (by shutting the gas off and letting it run until it dies) those have a bad problem with the float leaking between uses and gas getting in the oil then the next time it’s used you will have to change the oil or destroy the engine
Check with Salvage Workshop, he’s been working on an Cat 955 Traxcavator. Not sure if any spare parts he has will work for ya, but it’s a shot. He may also know a place to get one.
Try getting parts for a pony engine from your friendly local CAT dealer. Good luck. They'll try to sell you a conversion-to-electric start kit, at CAT dollars. How do I know? I worked in parts at the local CAT dealer.
Drain the engine block if it does not have coolant in it.. drain the coolant out of the pony motor too.. change the oil in the pony motor. spray some outboard fogging oil spray in thru the spark plugs .. be sure that when you start the main.. that you shut the fuel off to the pony carb and let it run out of gas .. do the fuel bowl does not overflow and dilute the oil in the pony.. its SPLASH lube .. diluted oil will cost you THOUSANDS to get the pony motor repaired. pony motors are easily frozen and the water jackets and heads crack.. as do the main engines .. radiator tubes and radiator tanks
Good catch Buddy!! WTF was I thinking!! We were looking for you Sat morning to say goodbye but we couldn't find you!! Good times Bud, We'll see ya next year!!☺
Wow super Cool!! I'm subbed to Squatch253's channel. He has an ongoing series thoroughly restoring an early D2 #5j1113 dozer. He might have a line on one. Good stuff good stuff.
You got MIKE to fill you in. Mike is a FINE one! GREAT mechanic on gensets.
Mike Power and Light, Inc. increasing capacity for your consumer needs!

Sorry Mate!! Didn't get any video of that!! It was deafening and I didn't have any hearing protection to get any closer!!☺

Love the concussion that motor puts off when it hits! Haven't been to Cool Springs in 4 years, need to get back!
Yeah Coolspring is the best place to go if your looking to buy or sell!! We hate the 300 mile trip but it definitely worth it!!☺
That exhaust firing in the background sounds awesome. Like a battle or something.
That noise was deafening!! That exhaust was run outta a building underground to a 5x5 hole that was 20 ft away!! Thankfully they only run that thing for 15 min. every few hours!!☺
Very nice engine - I always enjoy learning something new from "The Professor"!
If I could retain a tenth of what he says I'd be a genius!!☺
Can't wait to see Mike work on this one on his channel!
Mike’s cat House Love it 🥰
I see you got the exciter with this generator. 👍😊 A lot easier than adapting a static drive.
Yeah Buddy!! ☺
Mike really likes old generator sets
Yeah Buddy!! Old and BIG!!☺
What a piece of kit, loved the way it slid over too👍
This is America, no "kit" allowed. :)

@@805ROADKING Awesome!
Approx mike what will this set cost to buy as it is ? Thanks
Is this engine running?
Nice unit :) The Pony engine is quite interesting too, as it is a boxer style engine :) CAT made the pony engine themselves?
Yeah Buddy!! Cat makes the Pony also!!☺
How can you wire that 3-phase into a house current panelboard is that possible when 3-phase to house Troy
Did he buy the engine at Coolsprings? I want to go to their show next year once I retire. See you guys in a couple of weeks at Jacktown.
He's good friends with the Dude that sold it to him, he's from Illinois and brought it to Coolspring for him!!☺

When the Cat's out of the bag, it heads to Mike's!

I'm surprised it doesn't have a battery start!
I guess the big engine in the shed exhausts through a gravel pit?
Try getting parts for a pony engine from your friendly local CAT dealer.

What's wrong with the engine? It's been messed with.
