My brother had one.Cylinders got damaged.Got her 4 liners, rebuild the engine, worked the head,Installed ram air on it,and my brother managed to win our local championship, racing against far newer machinery.Really nice bikes
Just come across your channel & glad I did! I’m a Yamaha man but wow! The job you’ve done on that blade is superb!! Looking forward to seeing what you get upto in the future 👍
Thanks, I guess you have checked out the YZF750R project much the same as this 954 except even tougher to get going again ! I will be putting together an edited version of all those videos too, so that will be uploaded soon. Many thanks, Deano
Just found your channel and subscribed. It broke my heart seeing a 954 in that kind of neglected condition. They are a stunning looking bike, probably my favourite sports bike of all time👌
Thanks, appreciate the support, hopefully there is something in all those videos for you. That YZF was also a mission to finish, will also do a video as per the 954, for that too. Yes a very beautiful bike, even in YELLOW!
Good to know that you restore that beauty. I always love that bike since I saw it in 2003. Do you still have that bike? I hope you'll make a video riding that beautiful machine.
Ha Ha, I wish I could afford to keep them all, but by now, since that one, O would have over 30 + bikes, and only my little garage to put them in. Sadly that one is long gone, but saved from the scrappies at least. Thanks for your support ! Deano
just found your videos and think you have made a fantastic job of this bike,i had the 929 model years ago and what a bike would love to get a 954 now as they really were the best blade ever subscribed now.
I have a 954RR at the moment, 4th gear keeps slipping, going to have to replace the gearbox as I cant do it myself its probably not even worth the money it would cost to do, such a shame.
That is bad news and rare for a Honda, was it ever raced ? Why can't you fix the gearbox, check out TH-cam, see if another has issue and sorted, and give it a go, or buy another gearbox. Personally I would research, and give it a go myself. But we all have different circumstances and space to work on it. Good luck in what ever you do......Deano
@@DeanAllen Oh, I just dont really have the facilities honestly otherwise I'd give it a good go. Live in a flat and no garage access. There is loaddssss of things online about the gearboxes being bad, I don't think it was raced, but it does have a quickshifter which is probably the culprit. The way it's made the entire engine has to be removed and split to replace the gearbox. Just google 954RR 4th gear or something. The thing is the 929 gearbox is stronger and can be swapped in like for like
You clearly know your stuff about the 954 , yes a decent 929 full swap could be the answer but sounds tricky in your circumstances as you say. Hope things work out for you with the 954 one way or another.

Incredible Job, Looks brand new at the end
Thanks, was a hard slog, but yes, in the end, she looked just fine. My YZF was much the same too. Thanks ...
Great work. I’m just re-building a Gsx650f that was very neglected. Good fun isn’t it 😂
It has it challenges and rewards, let's just leave it there, glad Suzuki is working out too !
Is the tank really made of plastic? I don’t think so

@@DeanAllen 4th gear is actually a very common issue for 954 and Engine slap due to short skirt pistons, They eat the cylinder liners after a while
