Great video as per usual. Yes you're so right especially down south of the UK people are just generally much more reserved. One thing I really enjoyed about the US was just how much people talk to people outside of their immediate circles.
I would love some of that California sunshine here in Fermanagh, I think we're pretty friendly here , could just be a London thing, not very friendly, like New York
I have lived in Germany and England. I am from South Carolina. I actually love the non tip culture and the fact that people are not as chatty as they are at home. I do miss the food!!!!! Chick fil a (I will hit up first thing every time I fly into Atlanta), Mexican food, BBQ. just everything I am used to. At least the UK grocery stores offer more options than German ones did.
True I love the non tipping culture- it will be hard to go back to the states and have to tip again lol but yes chick fil a, Mexican food and BBQ are all top on my list too!!
Things I missed while in the UK for three weeks: Ice in drinks; Real pickles; BBQ; Real roads (not cart paths that you drive on); Being able to see across fields (instead of driving down a corridor of blackberry brambles); Decent sized rooms; AC in every business; Being able to rent an AirBnB without having the host cry to you about energy costs.
My wife and I are from the PNW but also lived in Scotland for a bit (trying to move back again). As you mentioned the customer service is quite different, more like assistance when requested. It was kind of refreshing actually. Everyone we met up north was super friendly, but as mentioned, not a lot of small talk. Unless you've met before, in which case they can be quite chatty. My wife also took the no driving approach with great success. I still drove and you get used to the road and vehicle changes fairly quickly. Now back in the States, roads feel massively oversized haha. As for the music festivals i would say if you want to go just go! We are in our late 30s and still make it out to several concerts/festivals yearly.
That’s amazing! I love that you’ve lived in both places, I’ve heard Scotland is an amazing place to live. And probably similar weather to what you’re used to in the PNW! I tried going to a 4-day music festival a few years ago and was so done by day 2😂 so I think single day festivals are where I’m at now!! lol
Remember 70% of people who live in London aren't from London...come north if you want really friendly people....London is like New York for friendliness ❤
Not trying to be rude but what did you say there about soccer here we call I football also you are true about the weather but the reason people may not be making small talk is you accent you have in my opinion a lovely accent but it is quite clear you are ammerican also we dont realy like small talk in general witch you are true to say also I am surprised how you didn't mention the lines I love your content not trying to be rude loved this video bye
I know you call it football, but I call it soccer! And yeah small talk in general isn’t as common. And lines in the UK would be more of a culture shock, not something I miss from the US since we don’t do that there
I think you got the sports thing completely wrong ...we love loads of sports in the UK and Europe....just the Sports we like and participate in are World Sports...plus whete did you get half your sports from, they came out of the UK 😂
@SheRunTheWorld ...I'd say the exact opposite...lived in the States for 6 months and all I ever saw was American Football in the main everywhere...you don't know much about the UK or its sports history, yes football is big in the UK as its more a religion than a sport to its fans , but the UK play more world sports than the US and 5 of the top 8 sports watched in the world originated here...
You said that you are too old for a musical festival, why, you are only 21 years old. Concerning food - Blue 1, Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, BVO, BHT, Ractopamine to name but a few. They are why probably you cannot buy American food in the UK, as they are illegal. Can I say you should stay in the UK, UK gain, US loss.
It is fair to point out the things you miss I doo think. that taking it into a win - lose situation is pointless as they are cultural differences and you should, if not embrace the difference, just roll with it. People in the UK don't necessarily wish to embrace wait staff as their long lost cousin. Personally I find it super intrusive if wait staff 'check on us'. Why? once they have brought the food they can leave us in peace to enjoy our meal and chat among ourselves. If we have a problem we'll let them know. That's how service works. If I walk into a shop I expect a greeting, no more than that. I'll ask for help when I need it. If the sales team are pushy I'll just leave. Doesn't mean that the service is better in the states, it's a cultural difference

Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it, it’s something I really do miss about the US :)

Very true!! I do wish I could bring some of the California sunshine over to all of the UK :)
@SheRunTheWorld I do love where I live , I think we're designed for rain, not so damn much 😁

Haha all fair points!!! Real pickles and BBQ especially for me
Hope you didn't miss your flight back.
Lovely channel ❤
Thanks so much!

Very true! I’ve definitely heard the north is more friendly ☺️
Happy sunday 😊
You too!
Merry Christmas.
You too!
Namaste 🙏😊
☺️
People of all ages go to Glasto , most teenagers could not afford the ticket price.
I didn’t specific teenagers, anyone can go of course. I just personally feel too old to go to a multi-day music festival!
@@SheRunTheWorld...omg you are old before your time...love your channel but loosen up a bit love ❤️

The small talk issue is a London issue!
I think you got the sports thing completely wrong ...we love loads of sports in the UK and Europe....just the Sports we like and participate in are World Sports...plus whete did you get half your sports from, they came out of the UK 😂
Hmm I disagree. You guys don’t have half the professional sports we have in the states!

And now i miss the basic right to be a human in the united kingdom, current prime minister is a joke
Thanks for watching

I’m nowhere near 21 years old! And yeah I understand why they don’t have certain American foods in the UK, I can still miss them tho!
It is fair to point out the things you miss
