This man is 74 and looks like he's in his 40's ! He's great, and a great actor !
I love Rick's takes on everything. Seems like such a good dude.
He is ❤
He’s a high ranking 33° Freemason if you only knew what they did behind closed doors it’s time people start waking up and not idolizing people that they do not know their actors .freemasons worship Satan behind closed doors this is how they make it as big as they do the symbolism is all you need to say to know that they’re in the club
So glad that he didn't try to virtue signal by showing how he only listens to dead black blues players from the 1920s. So fake when people do that.
rick almost got the story right, dave had an album of songs the beatles did live for the bbc, not the decca tape. and he traded that to john for the butcher album.
Alright Rick, showing love for one of the absolute best, Queens of the Stone Age. I can dig that
His background stories on each of the albums in his bag proves he's more than just a pop singer from the 80's. He's a rocker period!
Rick is a rocker from way back - during the late 60’s and early 70’s he was in a band called Zoot.
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
Finally, someone acknowledges the Church’s “Starfish” album
Rick has also said in the past that The Blurred Crusade was one of his all-time favorite albums. He’s definitely a fan of The Church.
I have the CD 😁
Respect to Rick for giving some love to The Church! I forgot he was Australian... you can still hear it a little :D
How does he still look that good in his SEVENTIES?! love that guy, great songwriter
I was thinking the same thing. He is 74 years old. I wouldn’t guess anything older than mid-50’s.
Dude looks great at 74 yrs old for sure
As a kid of the 60’s growing up here in Australia I still remember listening to songs from Zoot & after with your solo career Rick. I still have I think Explosive Hits ‘73(?) with “Speak To The Sky” on it. One of my absolute favourite tracks as a kid! Still loved & missed back home Rick. 😎👍🏼🇦🇺
Ok Amoeba, I have watched alot of Whats In My Bag but this is hands down your best. I grew up hearing Rick on top 40 radio, cool stuff, but wow I am floored on his knowledge. He just schooled your viewers with knowledge, stories and his own perspectives on the history of music. Thanks for giving him the time to flesh out...
Rick we met (1984 concert) back in Indy at the tennis courts. We ran into each other as you were walking back to your tour bus, from a sound check. It was a beautiful summer day, you were very charming and said hi to me. I responded and asked for an autograph. Pulled some paper from my shorts……no pen😮 you asked another girl for her pen, took it from her asked my name (Vickie) wrote a sweet note, and signed your name!! Still have it. Thank you for being and staying that super cool person. You had my heart ❤️ from that Indy summer day😊. Take care and keep doin what you do.
How old were you?
@RickSpringfield651
Awww, I bet you say that to all the ladies ❤
I’m not Jessie’s girl either 😮
@@dhurley8522
I was 26 years old on that bright sunny day in the city of Indianapolis ❤ good times‼️
@RickSpringfield651
I’m in North Carolina, talking privately, how exactly would that work??
@@victoriapitcock6602 Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
What a talented guy. A great musician, writer, actor and extremely knowledgeable. Wonderful episode. Thanks.
❤ so much love for you Rick Springfield! You are such a cool, talented and inspiring dude! I had photos of you on my wall in the early 70s and played speak to the sky 45 on my hand me down record player over and over! Lol! Love your taste in music! I’m a huge church fan! Saw them in the 80s at the 9:30 club in dc! So glad you included them in your vinyl pics! Thanks for a great episode!
You bloody nailed it Rick Springfield- Brilliant picks and way to call out The Church and AC/DC - Aussie Aussie Aussie!
The main ACDC guys were BRITS. Lol. American laughing.
@raleighman3000 Yes they were born in U.K but they were raised in Australia since kids.
@@TheLordOfSilence75 Brian johnson is totally brit, and bon and the young brothers were born there.
@raleighman3000 Yes I know. Bon was raised in Australia but Brian wasn't. He grew up I think in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The Youngs grew up in Burwood, Sydney. Aussie for me!
Great picks and even better stories... thank you Rick!
The Church Starfish is one of the most underrated albums ever
Rick’s always been cool, it’s just taken some folks longer to see it. Talented pop songsmith and a great live performer too. 😎👍
Cool and humble guy who has much love for other talented artists.
new found respect for Rick Springfield. It's evident in the way he speaks about his experiences. Great series, Amoeba!
“Inside Sylvia” is one of the purest rock ballads ever laid to tape. It’s insane how many perfect pop songs are on “Working Class Dog.”
He loved that dog of his that was on the cover. He was devastated when that dog passed after this album broke. I gotta update my Springfield collection. I gotta hear ' you better love somebody' and 'human touch'
I had forgot about The Church until I saw this with Rick. I love the way Rick is through & through into his art & reaches out in so many different ways to people. Learning so much more about him than I knew before with a video like this & he loves The Who too :-) Like several of the artists he mentioned & learned about others :-)
I love hearing his passion for all music. He's geeky heart shows with the way he appreciates the contributions of so many varied artists. Thanks for this showcase of awesome music theough Rick's eyes.
Rick is an awesome performer, writer, actor and all around great artist!
@RickSpringfield651IDK how you look so good for your age, but damnit man, you must be sipping the Ponce de Leon Bimini adrenachrome😂 seriously though, Rick you are still doing great things with serious radio and the 80s tour
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
This guy was an icon for the 7 year old me in a house with 3 older sisters. Great picks.
At the time of this video Rick Springfield is 74, and he looks fantastic.
If Botox and face fillers are attractive, then he is an Adonis.
@@anthonyfrombelowI disagree. Yes, he’s had work done.
But it’s artful . I mean, it doesn’t look done. It makes him look as if as he’s in his 50s. Which is a good way to look when you’re on the cusp of your mid- 70s
Holy cow this one was interesting as heck. I had no idea that Rick Springfield was Australian.
I love the stories he puts behind the choices. That’s really fun to hear.
Rick bought the John Lennon owned and Beatles signed ‘Butcher Cover’ LP Sells for $234,000 at Auction in 2019😲
What a fun video! I’ve not seen your channel before but I’ll be watching more for sure!
❤️💜💚
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
This is soooo cool. I could listen to Rick and his stories / takes on music all day long. Fantastic!
I know, right!?!
Many happy memories walking to college in the 80s with my headphones on listening to Tao
Wow, that was kool to see him unfold all of his influences and what it meant to him. Here lately I’ve been seeing a little bit of Rick on videos. I didn’t realize what a great guitarist he really is!
When I was a kid in the early 70s Rick had a pop hit called "Speak To The Sky" that I love to this day.
I have the 45 from 1972. I think it s on Capitol records.
Rick Springfield! Thank you, Amoeba!! Thank you, Rick, for being a fan of The Church.
Rick is so great! Listening to Jessie's Girl in 1980 through a 9V transistor radio (the "Mighty 690 AM" in San Diego) is one of my fondest kid music memories!
Wow, the mighty 690… Haven’t heard that in ages.
So glad that he didn't try to virtue signal by showing how he only listens to dead black blues players from the 1920s. So fake when people do that.
Rick has always been a top favorite of mine. Thank you for this piece.
Rick is such a great musician !! I love when Rick talks about his guitar heroes and guitar idols. His appreciation for other musicians is just precious and it shows that he really is knowledgeable.
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
Rick’s passion for music is deep - love this guy sm! 💗
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
Rick is awesome. Love his music ❤
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
❤ so much love for you Rick Springfield! I had your speak to the sky 45 when I was a little girl in the early 70s and played that record over and over on my hand me down record player! You are such a cool and talented dude! Thanks for including the church! I saw them in the 80s at the 9:30 club in dc! Awesome episode! Awesome 😎 music pics!
What a musical treasure. Rick Springfield's awesomely cool.
Omg! Loved EVERYTHING in Rick's Bag!! ❤ Even Wholy Fuk! And Love Rick! So Good!
Cannot agree more about the Kinks. Brilliance ✴️
I love the fact that he's so knowledgeable and seems like a good dude. I started opening tabs with half the artists he mentioned. Opened up a whole new universe of music. Who knows where i get from here. Cheers, everybody!
Awesome Video Rick---Wow, between that Butcher Cover and all of the Star Wars stuff you have--must be worth Millions.
I’ve always been a Rick Springfield fan, I always thought he was a cool dude. However after getting a sneek peek into his music taste and seeing who his musical influences are, realizing that we both enjoy some of the same bands/musical artists just makes him that much cooler 😌
@RickSpringfield651YOU DO A GREAT VERSION OF JET BY WINGS 🍏
So great to see Rick doing Amoeba's 'What's in my bag'. Rick was my first concert and is always great live!
My first concert, too!
Lol, wow ! He was my first concert also. My aunt took me to his working class dog tour. I will never forget.
@@jaywillingham4085 I don’t remember the name of the tour, but the concert I saw was after his (dreadful) movie came out. My friend’s parents drove us 100 miles to see him. They dropped us off at the show and picked us up when it was over. Good times!
@RickSpringfield651 The real Rick Springfield has much better grammar.
@RickSpringfield651 I’m thinking you really need to get a life, dude. RS has better things to do. Also, he’s got a great command of the English language, unlike you.
I love how he got a record simply because he liked the band name.
and that band fucking kills 👍
Me too.
That's how we used to have to find new bands. A band name, an album cover, a record label that we know we enjoy other bands on.
@@gatchrocks so true. I bought lots of albums based on album covers. Grateful Dead Blues for Allah being one of them.
Holy fuck! Holy Fuck are great.
Nice Church Album ! Star 🌟 Fish 🐟 !
I love that he loves T. Rex/Electric Warrior. Electric Warrior and The Slider are masterpieces. Rick Springfield als mentiones Queens of the Stoneage and the influence of Cream on them. Great music taste.
I absolutely agree!
Tanx is pretty cool.
@RickSpringfield651 Hey Rick ! I was 16 when a local radio station played Speak To The Sky here in the Boston area . They were on AM and had an expansive playlist including album cuts . Those were the days. My wife and I have always followed you . I have your 45 on Capitol from 72! Take care.
Love Rick Springfield and love this video!
AC/DC is another all time favorite of mine.
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
We need a podcast from him talking with the legends. His stories are entertaining.
That The Church album is so good. I listened to it all the time when it came out. I live the song Spark so much…the lyrics are amazing.
This was awesome. Total respect.
Could listen to him talk and tell those stories for hours.
Rick Springfield is one of my all time favorite rock singers
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
Rick is a good artist and a great guy. Has follow him all my life(i am 58 now)and have all of his albums. Good taste on music he has😁👍
This is one of my favorite episodes. Learned several things I had no clue about.
Just amazing stuff could listen to Rick for hours, thanks for sharing Rick more of this would be awesome
Rick is honest about his Bowie influence. Classic choices.
Rick doesn’t even mention his awesome cover version of “Under The Milky Way”. Humble dude. Love him.
Love this! Rick is very knowledgeable and has great taste. Thanks for this video!!! ❤
Rick seems like such a cool guy and he has great taste in Rock music. The Church! One of my all-time favorite bands. Loved them in the early 80's, love them now! 👍 Would love to have a conversation with Rick about music. Great job here, Mr. Springfield!
@keithkoenig5320 Rick is definitely a fan of The Church, and not just of Starfish and UTMW. He’s said in the past that The Blurred Crusade was one of his all-time favorite albums.
@@avocate2017 "The Blurred Crusade" and "Heyday" are fighting for second place for me. "Priest = Aura" is my favorite Chirch record, but they have released a ton of great music over the years.
@RickSpringfield651 Again, you are a cool and bona-fide music fan and I am old enough to remember you from your Pre-Working Class Dog days! Loved your picks on this video! Peace and Best Wishes to you always, Rick! 👍 ❤
@RickSpringfield651 Kansas City, Missouri. I took my sister to one of your casino shows here a decade-ish ago and ended up Rocking just as hard as she did!
Rick if you are reading the comments, you have great musical taste. Also, love your version of "Under the milky way". Good job!!
One of the *best* songs *ever.*
Rick Springfield is more than awesome he is fantastic with his performances and his music. I don't want to admit this but I know any of the records that rick springfield was explaining to his fans. Thank you for sharing your stories about the records. Rick Springfield looks so fantastic and I love his smile and his performances in his concerts. He is my BIGGEST ROCK STAR singer and hero because of his music
💝💯👍🙏🎚🎤🎸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I WISH RICK WAS IN MY BAG. ❤
Oh that’s funny…I bought my 45’s in a sewing machine store! I never stole one though!!! Shame on you Rick! 🤣 Thank you for this. So great to hear who your influences were. And btw…I love ‘Comic Book Heroes’!
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
Really nice episode. I like Rick.
I read his biography and I came away with a newly high regard for Rick Springfield. It turns out he's not just a pop pretty boy like I thought he was back in the 1980s.
It's funny how relatable I found his take on so many things. In some weird way I kind of think if we had crossed paths before he had achieved fame, we might have been pals.
He rocks that jacket better than most guys 50 years his junior.. His musical taste is spot on.. The Church to Hendrix.. He’s a really good actor too..
Looks like he’s in great shape for 74!
What a dude! Let's all go to Ricks place for a vinyl spinning party!
The first girl I kissed was and still is OBSESSED with Rick. Hi Denise!! I gotta say I have a whole new appreciation for this man...His picks are awesome.
You were amazing when I seen you in concert Thursday thank you so much for making a stop in Bakersfield it was the best thing for me right before the hospital❤ I love you Rick
Thanks for being an amazing fan over the years, Thank you so much I LOVE YOU.❤☺
@@RickSpringfield-cy3mc your so worth it, love you to
This was so lovely, and it made me happy. He's the real deal, and a big part of it all...AND NOW I JUST WANT TO GO HANG OUT WITH RICK SPRINGFIELD, we could just sit around and crank Hendrix records. Rick, I'm so happy you're still out there and breathing with us man. You taught me a couple things in this video too, Thank you.
I love you on TV and still listen to your albums..YOU RULE RICK.
I love that Rick Springfield is secure enough to show his genuine respect for other groups and outwardly says “he tried to model” some of his own music after some other particular artists. Rick seems like a cool dude. I like that.
I just watched a one on one interview where he talks about his battle with depression. He wrote a book about it. It's there for him, and I have it too. I understand exactly what it does, and of course, people who suffer with it have different degrees. Treatment can help. He's having a resurgence, and I think it's great for him to get on and capitalize on some of that good will. He's a real nice guy. He was in LA a very long time ago mid 70's, and struggling trying to make it when he met Linda Blair. She had just done The Exorcist. They hit it off dated a few years, and remained lifelong friends. She kind of saved him. He is grateful to everyone. I was a fan of his big hit, and now I'm a fan of his in his 70's. He's proof you can make it last. The two albums he cites as being very instrumental in his first good records he did, Ziggy and Elvis Costello, are the top of my list too. I agree with other things Rick intimated about like being connected more to John from The Beatles. I feel the same way. Not dissing Paul in any way. He's amazing.
Say what u will, the man’s got impeccable taste.
In 6 years time Rick will be 80!! Get your head round that. 😮
I love you ❤️ Rick and your music.🎵🎼🎶🔊
I like Rick and I enjoyed this video!
Much respect to Rick, knowledgeable , talented and a real dude.

The Church - Great band!!!
Starfish - great album!!!
Such a cool guy!!! Always been a fan 🎸🎸🎵🎵
I thought for a minute that Rick was rocking a Comic Book Heroes jacket 🔥🤘😎
T Rex Ziggy and ACDC are 3 of my top favorite albums. And this week i just heard he bought the signed Yesterday and Today album. I just got a copy of that album this week. I also feel affinity for Rick because i bought his Speak to the Sky 45 when it came out. 😃
My mum was a home nurse in Australia and took care of Rick's elderly mum and she organised Rick to sign a picture for my mum, he's a class act, lovely guy.
I love the church ,ive seen them about ten times, good on you Rick, i actually like a lot of Zoot stuff ,great
Thanks for sharing your favorite music! Love you keep rocking!

Rick I know who the shadows were! I always consider them the British counterpart of the ventures. Just an amazing instrumental group. Very famous for the song Apache
He never ages
