- My playthrough of Kaidan's Daedric quest expansion, “Ashes of His Past” and its epilogue “Absolution by Dragon Fire.” Obviously, if you haven’t played this quest and plan to - don’t watch this video!! It's 100% spoilers.

Both of these quests are from the amazing Kaidan Immersive Features mod and are off by default due to the heavy themes and just because this isn’t everyone's cup of tea. What the Immersive Features team did here is nothing short of incredible.

A couple things of note: I made a couple of adjustments to the music and animations to either have the video flow better or because something happened during the animation that wrecked the mood (like Kaidan mentioning my bounty mid kiss on more than one occasion -_-). I only did this a few times.
Additionally, I edited the fight between the gang and Ros just to up the drama so it won’t be exactly like that in your game.
Ashes was devastating - I loved it! I felt like crying the whole time. Seeing Kaidan going through it and walking beside him in it (no matter how hard he tries to push you away) was so moving and as a player deepened my love and respect for him. It makes the Dragonborn’s relationship with him feel more real too. Real couples go through hard times and have to support each other if one is down. Real couples in loving relationships can also deeply hurt each other and it is up to them as individuals and as a team to make amends and move forward.
Absolution was so sweet - I loved it! It was all the fluff needed to balance out the angst of Ashes. It is great that this quest is here because without it I don’t think I would have felt closure from the events of Ashes. I love how the takeaway is that Kaidan is more than his past and a better person than he gives himself credit for. It's not enough to just confront your past, you also have to also fight for your future.
I made this video for me because I love the quest and I adore Kaidan and I know I will want to go back and watch this like a movie in the future haha. I also like playing around with video editing and such so this was a fun project for me. I hope you enjoy it too :D
As someone with depression and ptsd over some pretty awful things that have happened in my life, I know what it's like when you feel as if you're not worth anything, because nobody can hate you like you hate yourself. You feel you're doing everyone a favour by letting the walls crush you, even when you're screaming inside.
I have never seen a mod articulate so much of what I went through after my initial trauma crash, when I finally had a moment to really process everything after a breakdown - and all I wanted was to disappear. I mostly buried things and dissociated, tried not to yell at folks. Sometimes I'd just shut down and go numb.
The most important thing was having those times where I poured it all out, expecting ridicule, and what I got was love. Now, I will always have ptsd, but what I do know is this: I'm still here, as best as I can be.
To whomever needs this, processing isn't linear, and sometimes things don't patch up the way we want - but if I'm still here?

we need to talk about mental health Openly without judgements - it is EVERY WHERE -- currently there is a minimum 2 yr waitlist for KIDS effected by Covid to get help... i could rattle stats of this Crisis but the fact we have 80% of kid pop. in trouble should be a wake up call to action OneLove!!

I love Kaidan so much that I refuse to play without him with me.
This video.... it broke me. Especially when his voice broke about how tired he was. The music during that scene, and the one when they hug at the campfire after the fight made it so much more passionate. I loved seeing a different side of him other than his sassy sarcastic normal self, but this made me tear up more than I like to admit...
Well, Kaidan's behavior is frightenly realistic. I'm not the person, who gets upset easily, but seeing Kaidan becoming a drunken hysteric at 20:43 is not comfortable(but truly speaking, that's the drama his quest needed, so I love it 😅)
Yeah same it was so heart breaking for me! And now that ashes is over I still "grab a drink" with him at taverns and inns but its not the same. I feel like I need to keep an eye on him now 😢

When he asked if he could hold you how many lines of dialogue can you choose from I don't exactly wanna say no to him because of how heart breaking it is one of my friends suffer with PTSD and when he has emotional outburst like that I just grab hold of him and hold him tight and talk to him and eventually he will calm down the idea of not being able to let him hold my character makes it worst because it's obvious he needs it my internet is back so the video kinda blurry to me so I couldn't read the dialogue
I love how the writers depicted one of the many forms of PTSDs.

oh my gosh... I haven't played Kaidan mod in Skyrim for like almost a year because of studies stuff, but I know some of his story and all before the updates. but after I see this, the new update. I cried! oh man this is so good and real... the voice, the immersive stories of his... It's so emotional to me. I literally cry while doing my homework with my headphones on, lmao. I'm curious though, how do you get all those companions to follow you? I am the harbinger of the companions now but I can only get one follower at a time with Kai and my DB. Love your content! Wow. Watching this made me want to crawl through the screen of my phone, spawn in the game, rip Rosalind and all her pawns to shreds and beat the melancholy out of Kaidan. Wich is funnily enough a sign that I'm starting to care about this fictional character. I dont get pissed off like this unless I care. Actually considering to download this mod now and experience it for myself. (Still not a fan of Kaidans possessiveness though. Do I have to romance him to get access to his full story?)
For Ashes? Yes you need to romance him to get all of the content for that. If you aren't a fan of him being more possessive/jealous I would recommend either not using immersive features or just keeping off the "angst" and "spice" switches in his MCM :) (they are off by default)

I'm using High Poly Kaidan on nexus as a base and and I have made some personal tweaks to make him my own 😄
@@LavendarrrI been tryna find a base to make my own personal tweaks as well but for some reason creation kit saids it can't load multiple masters and I don't see in the config to raise the number (masters like Skyrim and the dlcs and all) and I don't know how to go about programming a custom one or what to do so for now I'll have to wait to make my own personal replacer

I have a quick question. What is he talking about when he says he almost killed the dragonborn? I can't seem to find anything regarding it anywhere else.
He means that he put you in grave danger. He let you come to the temple where you got paralyzed by ros and not only that but brought you to the attention of a deadric prince. But mostly he is talking about what ros did to you.

I'm playing on Xbox X Series, and I was wondering if you can play the extended daedric quest ashes of his past and absolution by dragon fire? I got everything else. The sword and family background, marriage, and the regular Rosalind quest where Kaidan just says a few lines about putting his past behind him. There was no hug or yelling at my player at all like I saw in your video. I must be missing one mod too since I can only have Kaidan plus one companion at a time, and I saw you had 3 of the companions at once plus Kaidan.
Yes you will need a follower framework in order to have more than 1 vanilla follower with you. Just make sure you don't import kai into it. I use nethers follower framework (NFF). And I heard that there are known issues with ashes on xbox and that it will be fixed in a future update.
As soon as that thing said Dagon I would have been all over it. lol no patients Edit: Really? Shouting while sneaking? I'd be wanting to fus them out of the cave.

How do i start the "from the ashes of his past" quest
There are a number of prerequisites: You need to have been to shadowgreen cavern, the shrine of mehrunes dagon, finished Kai's personal quest (all of this past), and be at relationship level 60 or higher.
Everytime he spoke while listening to his note i was like "oh shit what are you doing here" it scareed me lmfao
Heyo, I was just wondering, I saw your modlist in another video and I wanted to ask whether or not it was based off of another modpack? One with a nice installer, because my modding proviciency is not 'that' good :). Adding more mods is doable because I doubt that any modpacks have Kaiden included. Thanks for your time
Hey! Yes my modlist is probably most similar to NOLVUS which has an installer. It doesn't have Kaidan but now that just about everything Kaidan is in one "all in one" installer, setting him up on your own should be very easy :)

Can anyone tell me the requirements of this quest I am lvl 80 already in relation and have visited shadowgreen cavern and completed his quest, I really don't want to bring stupid companions with me, I don't want vanilla followers with me.
I haven’t done the extended version of this quest but I think it triggers after you go to the shrine of mehrunes Dagon. There is a quest you can pick up in dawnstar to put the razor back together that will take you there
Must be dragonborn, complete his friendship, be in a relationship.
Make sure the ashes quest extension in the mcm is active.
Then go to mehrunes shrine.
Followers are optional and aren't needed for this quest to complete.

I have an issue where I can't pass the conversation without crashing at "you pledged your sword to me" - I tried everything. I am on Xbox, it's like he wants to play an animation of sort, but can't, and just freezes and the game crashes. Any suggestions please?

Hi, loved the video but I have a question, how do you start the ashes from his past quest? is there any requirements? And i am also not able to get the talisman from kaidan to make the key to the temple, am i supposed to wait a certain amount of time ?
Hey! You need to be in a relationship with him and have completed his personal quest. I believe that's all you need to start Ashes but I could be wrong. And the talisman might be on a timer but it wouldn't be longer than 48 in game hours I think. I haven't played for a while so don't remember the finer details. Kaidan has a website that has guides - kaidanmod.com :)

Did you need to use a separate mod do get the fratpack to follow you all at once, or is that part of Ashes?
You will need a follower framework to have more than 1 vanilla follower. I use and highly recommend Nether's Follower Framework!

There are a couple other requirements to do ashes - you can read them in the IF MCM
@Lavendarrr Ah, I didn't have it enabled.
The quest actually triggered after marriage, oddly enough. I initiated the quest by going to the Dagon shrine and got him to talk about the Blooded Dawn, then the next rest stop he asked to marry.
It actually ended up being a great bit of accidental storytelling because the Dremora showed up after we entered Autumnwatch. Kaidan finally finding happiness, only for his past to catch up with him and in the home he'd wanted us to live in.

So her spell never actually knocked me out that way. knocked over, yes, but after that I got rid of her in a few hits. i also went in without the companions. am i supposed to do the quest before reaching a certain level and have the companions with me to get that last few scenes ?
I edited the footage of the fight because her spell didn't affect me either. I knew she is meant to paralyze you so I kept still even though I could move. And no there isn't a level requirement! I think precision makes it so she doesn't actually paralyze you. that and/or TDM

Well load order or a conflict is usually the culprit with these things but if you have ruled those out it wouldn't be a bad idea to pop into the Kaidan Discord and ask for help in the "kaidan help" channel

Hopefully you've found a solution by now, but I had this issue with Precision and True Directional Movement being enabled. I was able to continue by disabling these mods before the fight and reenabling them after :)@@Mia.Bahdia
Just downloaded everything I needed for it for pc but that quest doesnt start for me. Only the original blood and fire. And there is nothing about it in the MCM for me. Am I missing something or does it need some sort of patch?
Did you use the AIO installer? if so, you should have everything. The switch that turns on ashes is in the IF MCM
I have that problem too! I think to get the new quest you need to start the romance stage with Kaidan. -sigh- I’m currently working on that.

Idk I only got skyrim like a week and a half ago but it’s already my favourite thing atm, including Kaidan. my dumbass really thought finding the letter was the end of his quest 😭😭

How do you activate this? Does it randomly start or does it require pacific conditions.
There are specific conditions! You can see them in the MCM which is also where you "switch it on" or allow it to trigger. If memory serves, you need to be in a relationship with him where both your DB and Kai have professed their love. You also need to go to the shrine of Mehrunes Dagon. If you run into issues triggering it, I recommend going to the official Kaidan Discord (you can get the invite on the kaidanmod.com site) and asking there. There are many moderators there that are happy to help :)

Its armor of the confessor by Dint re-colored black. The original mod is on dint's patreon and the black re color is on nexus :)

They are were moved into immersive features so if you have the latest version of that for xbox you will get those features

@Lavendarrr I have come across another problem. I downloaded the immersive features, but I can't enable it. It says this creation can not be enabled since it depends on files that aren't present, and I have no idea what to do.

@@lawnie8966 Hey no worries it's no bother! I use the high poly kaidan replacer on nexus and then use Proteus to add stuff likes scars, moles etc to him in game. @Lavendarrr That doesn't really help, as it won't let me log in. If some other xbox players are having the problem as me, it needs to be fixed. I can not continue the quest when it crashes all the time I talk to Kaidan with the new extended dialogue
Oh discord won't let you log in? That's odd. Still, the discord is the best place for solutions so i would keep trying. I don't play on xbox so unfortunately I can't be much help. The discord has the MAs for EE and IF as well as many staff members that can help you troubleshoot. I have heard that there are known issues with Ashes and the Xbox port and bug fixes are on the way. I think they will be changing the audio file type to something better suited to xbox amongst other bug fixes but since everything has to be ported over it takes much longer to get fixes out compared to PC. @@emmapartington9022
